ARCHIVED Lesson Learned
DonaldandAlanda Evans replied to Lgood22573's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
McDonald's french fries have no more gluten than distilled vinegar or distilled spirits.....all of witch are in question.....all of witch I consume with no issues whatsoever. I've only been on this site a couple of months and have already seen these questions asked more times than I can count. -

Right when I'm starting to feel better gluten free; I caught a bad cold......Has this happened to anyone else? I feel like I've lost ground and I'm starting all over again! -

Tell them you have some follow up blood work that you have to fast for.....it's a lie.....but a white lie. -
ARCHIVED Pain Upper Left/ct Scan/small Bowel Study
DonaldandAlanda Evans replied to deesmith's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
An abdominal CT scan will show pretty much everything, whereas an endoscopy is only so long. Plus, I'm assuming the prep for the endoscopy cleared everything out and the prep for the CT is just a drink. -
ARCHIVED Lesson Learned
DonaldandAlanda Evans replied to Lgood22573's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I ate 2 large orders of fries yesterday.....didn't bother me at all. I did get sick from Wendy's fries a few weeks ago. -
ARCHIVED Time Off Work?
DonaldandAlanda Evans replied to masterjen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
When the doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with me, I went on FMLA. I eventually quit my job before I was diagnosed. I am now colecting unemployment. -
ARCHIVED Blood Test Positive...biopsy Needed Or Not?
DonaldandAlanda Evans replied to GraceAnew's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I personally declined the biopsy. I was at the point where I was sick of medical procedures, and wanted to start the road to recovery. Every single blood test there is for Celiac, I was positive.......and that was enough for myself and my doctor. I have an appointment at the 3 month mark to re check my antibody levels to see if they have gone down. If they... -
ARCHIVED Positive Or Negative?
DonaldandAlanda Evans replied to dhiltonlittle's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The gliadin IGA is an antibody that attacks the gluten itself. The TTG is an antibody that attacks your body. I would ask them to re run the TTG test and maybe an endomysial as well. -

I really like the Koala Chocolate Crispy Rice Bars. Not sure if that's what your looking for, but I think they are great! -
Since diagnosis of Celiac Disease and the subsequent diet, I have had a drastic reduction in symptoms. I went from having upwards of 15 bowel movements a day to having 2. The bloating happens less often, and overall I have more energy. A few things still remain that bother me. My bowel movements are solid now but still remain a tan color (when will this change...

ARCHIVED Skechers Shape Ups
DonaldandAlanda Evans replied to DonaldandAlanda Evans's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
They do feel different......Almost like my heels are stuck in sand. They really aren't that supportive but I think thats the point. They make you use muscles that you wouldn't normally use while walking. -
ARCHIVED Other Condtitions With High Gliadin Iga
DonaldandAlanda Evans replied to dhiltonlittle's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
When my antigliadin came back elevated I wondered the same thing. I came up with a few things like wheat allergies, working around a lot of wheat and then scary stuff like hepatic disorders. I wouldn't worry too much until you get the rest of your results because the most common of all is gluten intolerance. -
ARCHIVED Skechers Shape Ups
DonaldandAlanda Evans posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've been walking a lot trying to get back into shape after being bed ridden for so long. My chiropractor told me to get Skechers Shape Ups and they are really great. I recommend them to any of you looking for a easy workout........the down side is, they are very ugly. -

ARCHIVED My Blood Test Results
DonaldandAlanda Evans replied to afreeclimber74's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Those numbers look really high for someone who has been off gluten for a year. When I was diagnosed my gliadin IGA was 32 and my IGG was 66.......and I was eating gluten regularly. (also had positive TTG & endomysium). -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Multi Vitamin

ARCHIVED Went To See A Dietitian
DonaldandAlanda Evans posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I can't believe how pointless that was! She told me I could eat rice krispies and I didn't need to worry about cross contamination from the toaster. She then went on to explain what gluten was and what contained gluten......as if reading directly from Wikipedia..........I'm sure some of you have had great experiences with dietitians, but I can't say that... -
ARCHIVED Normal Vitamin Levels
DonaldandAlanda Evans posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
So I got the results of my latest labs, and I'm kinda thrown off by them. I'm still getting the typical GI symptoms (not as bad as before I went gluten free) but I also am getting symptoms like numb weak legs, fatigue, shortness of breath.......I thought those symptoms for sure were due to vitamin deficiency but my labs came out normal. Calcium 9.3 ... -
ARCHIVED I Need Help!
DonaldandAlanda Evans replied to reeetz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
ohh yea one more thing. Is your liver worth a diagnosis? Elevated liver enzymes is a marker for liver damage and a gluten challenge will probably damage you liver even more. Just food for thought. -
ARCHIVED I Need Help!
DonaldandAlanda Evans replied to reeetz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would look at your liver enzymes normalizing (if they could find no other reason) as a sign of Celiac. My liver enzymes were 4 times the upper limit before I was diagnosed and normalized after a week of going gluten free. My doctor didn't know that elevated enzymes could be a sign of Celiac Disease and tested me for every liver disorder out there......... -

ARCHIVED Fast Food
DonaldandAlanda Evans posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
So after starting to feel a little better, I got a craving for fast food. I decided on Wendy's because it seemed like they had the largest selection. I went a little overboard and ordered everything I thought I could have. I consumed a classic double cheese burger w/ no bun and no mayo, a large fry (my wife asked about the deep fryer and they told her it...
