  1. I think it's a definite possibility that it is a cross contamination issue. If I were you I would definitely not eat from the cafeteria for at least 3 months and then only eat there if you talk to the cooks in detail about how they cook and prepare the food. Cross contamination is extremely easy. I hope you can figure it out soon. Being in pain...
  2. I don't know much about lactulose, but my daughter was prescribed Miralax which is the brand name for polyethylene glycol. I found out that it's not very good for you and can cause some pretty bad side effect - at least in the long run. I took her off of it and since going off of gluten I have been able to control her constipation with diet. I am a different...
  3. Just a little encouragement about the food. There are quite a few web sites that have amazing gluten free recipes. It's taking awhile, but I am starting to find some gluten free recipes that would rival any gluten one. Check out glutenfreegirl.com and glutenfreegoddess.blogspot. They are both great writers and cooks/bakers. I hope you transition well...
  4. Hey there all. I just thought if you hadn't read it yet you might like to read this article by Scott Adams My link. It is an interesting study done on an older spelt grain that does not seem to have the same effect that all other gluten grains seem to have with people intolerant to gluten. Read it! It is interesting.
  5. Oh! This is so sad! I am seriously ready to cry for you and your little ones. I definetly think that it is probably Celiac that you all have. Very, Very often blood tests come back negative when people actually do have celiac disease - even the biopsies have false negatives some times. It does seem that many poeple on this site have had good results with...
  6. Thanks for the links and for sharing some of the experiences and symptoms that you all have been going through. It has been helpful! I hope with time all problems resolve for all of us - hopefully less time rather than more.
  7. Terrified Mom, I do think I had 100% eliminated dairy and soy (as much as is humanly possible anyway - i don't know if some how someone who had touch dairy/soy had then touch him... etc...), but I am wondering if I should take it back out again now that we have been off gluten for a while. I had assumed that because we had no change at all before that it...
  8. My second daughter's symptoms where pretty much exactly the same as what you listed for your son, with the exception of the frequency of the stools (she would go for 4-6 days with out a BM and then have many BM's over the next day or two that were all very loose and sometimes watery). I wish we had done the biopsy, but at the time I didn't know much about...
  9. Thank you for sharing what you have been trying and implementing in your life in an effort to truly be well. I too have found that the cross contamination is a huge issue and when I buy a product other than fresh produce, I call the company and quiz them about their practices and where they get their products from. Isn't it such a challenge? I am also...
  10. What specifically is peripheral neuropathy? And also what is ataxia? I have seen it mentioned several times.
  11. Can I pick your brain? What did you learn about grains? Please share what you have found out.
  12. Oh yeah, we did go to an allergist too with no results.
  13. Tank you all for the replies so far. Just to clarify, my son is now 10 months, but the hight of all the problems started when he was six weeks old. To answer the dairy thing, we did go off of dairy for several months (and soy too), but nothing changed at all. I did take my daughter to a GI doc and we had to wait so long to see him that we were in the...

    ARCHIVED Help!

Did you take gluten out of your diet? The blood tests often have false negatives - especially if you were not eating much at the time. If you haven't yet tried it, I would try going off of gluten for awhile and see what happens. Try a really simple diet - mostly veggies, because if you do happen to have a gluten problem your body may not digest a lot of...
  15. Hey there. I was hoping that some of you could give me some advice about my 10 month old son. He started having problems at six weeks old. Some of the symptoms were colic, acid reflux, not sleeping well (he would only nap for 10 min at a time and at night he would wake every hour to half hour), bad smelling bowel movements and gas, blood in bowel movements...
  16. What did you use the Metagenics and Glutagenics for? Are those suppliments? And what did you use the aloe juice for specifically? I am having a very hard time getting better. I have been gluten free for going on 6 months now. Thanks for any info.
  17. Thanks for the encouragement newgfcali and black sheep. I maybe do need to try going off of dairy again. I have taken dairy and soy out of my diet three times in the past two years. I surprisingly enough didn't seem to be having any dairy problems specifically at the time I took gluten out of my diet (surprisingly because I had been lactose intolerant since...
  18. I looked up what the ingredients where that they use in the gluten-free pizza at Pier 49, and found out that what you suspect is right - they are pre-made crusts that they buy from another company. In fact you can buy them yourself (but they are kind or expensive).
  19. My symptoms have not gotten much better after being gluten free for 5 going on 6 months now. The Doc thinks it's possible that I could have MS as well as Celiac. We'll just have to see. Mostly it's just hard because I'm trying to figure out how to get all these test done and get to all these appointment while feeling crappy and having an infant, 2 yr old...
  20. Oh! Newgfcali, you are great! I didn't think you were bashing the whole company at all. I was just teasing a bit. I'm sorry - I hope I didn't make you feel bad. I should have added some "ha ha's" and "lol's", because I was really just saying that in good humor. Besides, I want to hear what you all think about different products - it's really helpful. ...
  21. Okay everyone! Do not keep bashing Bob's Red Mill! They really do make some really great gluten free stuff, and the best thing about it is they have a dedicated facility for all their stuff that says gluten free on it. There are not too many companies that do that. I know that many of you have had a particularly bad experience with the all purpose mix...
  22. Oh! I must have missed your post about Entero Lab. I guess it's a no-go.
  23. If all other tests fail, you might want to check out Entero Lab (they have a web sight). I have heard many other people say good things about it (they test for many of the most common allergies). I would have done it for my kids, but I couldn't get our insurance to pay for it and we don't have the finances for it (my husband is a full time student right now...
  24. I was taking a whole food vitamin that contained wheat grass and barley grass when I first whent off of gluten and realized that I was reacting to it. Since that experience I stay away from all of the gluten grain grasses. I believe that the Garden Of Life has a gluten free superfood/green drink mix (I haven't looked into it recently, but heard about it from...
