It is. The syrups come from different companies though and Slurpee Canada is finding out for me!

I have heard back that the slurpees from Coca-cola are gluten, dairy and soy free. Here is what they sent me:
Coca-Cola:
Because our flavour formulations are considered a very valuable trade secret, we are unable to discuss the source of the flavours. The caramel colour in our products is derived from corn or cane sugar.
It may be helpful for the guest to know that Coca-Cola is gluten free. Also this product does not contain soy or dairy allergens as ingredients, and is produced on lines that do not process these allergens.

After a week you probably won't be able to tell the difference. On top of reading labels, you need to ensure that you aren't cooking your food on contaminated crockery, there are also many processed foods that don't have any suspicious ingredients but are notorious for cross contamination because of being made on the same lines as other foods. Stick with whole foods for a month, then reintroduce processed foods so that you are able to tell what it is that is causing the problems.

I use a wide variety of words depending on the audience and my mood at the time. Here's a nice little list for you:
I'm currently reacting really badly to something I ate
I ate something that I clearly shouldn't have
Glutened
Cross-Contaminated
CC'd
The gluten got me
Poisoned with gluten
Never again!
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
and my most recent "I must be allergic to children I'm getting rashes ALL the time"

Thanks, I'll try and find that brand. I think soy lecithin is ok, unless you have a soy intolerance. I found a topic about soy lecithin posted on this board in my search to see whether lecithin is safe. It would be nice if Tout Naturel listed "soy lecithin" if the lecithin they use is soy derived - it would make my life so much easier.
And I know what you mean about missing chocolate. I don't even know when the last time I ate chocolate was.
I can't have soy either
and from the rest of the comments on here, looks like chocolate remains out until I find a super expensive pure chocolate.
-
I use Safeway's Old Fashioned Peanut Butter. It's ingredient list is thus: Peanuts. That's it. I am also wondering about lecithin, I have simply been avoiding it to save time, but if some is okay then I might put in some effort as maybe there are some chocolate bars that I can eat again. Man I miss chocolate.

Short answer: Yes, there is hope. Do the trial!
Long answer: I too, did not get positive tests for my symptoms. I saw remarkable improvements by first being an extremely poor student and not being able to buy more food and thus being stuck with what was around the house- rice and potatoes. Astonishingly, I felt a lot better. Then I got paid and ate some KD and was immediately sick again. I talked to my sister who also was gluten free and she guided me through the avoid list and gave some helpful tips. Through this forum and other online research and a negative blood test, I have been gluten free and HAPPY, JOYFUL, ECSTATIC etc for an entire year. (Bar some tummy trouble which has since been attributed to soy and milk)
Best advice in a nutshell found on this forum: Screw the tests- if you're feeling better without gluten- that's all that matters- your health and well-being.

I was wondering ... Even though some cereals say they are gluten free..does it mean they are wheat free?...Ive heard the mixed tocopheryl in cereals is made from wheat...anyone know?
I can eat a gluten free cereal and have symptoms for days and look on box and see the words mixec tocopheryl.
A quick internet search brings me to the conclusion that tocopherols can be derived from many different sources- the main ones being soy and wheat. Either your gluten-free cereal isn't truly gluten-free or you have a problem with soy derivatives as well.

If you are still in the testing phase and have still to get a positive (test or reaction), I say enjoy your gluten foods whilst you can! You may find the reaction appears a couple days later. I had suspicious food this weekend (one or two bites then I noticed a strange "flavor" and stopped), I'm still waiting for a reaction but I know my own reactions have been known to appear 4 or 5 days later and are normally rather obvious in their appearance.

I went through similar in the past few weeks, I discovered that I can't have soy or milk as well as gluten. Perhaps you are sensitive to another product like soy, milk, corn etc? I've never done one properly but you might benefit from doing the elimination diet to help you find what is causing the problems. Don't ask me how to do one... There are loads of people here who might be able to help with that and I'm sure your doctor can "help" too. (I'm pretty unimpressed with mine).

ahem... Earth Balance.... hehehe.
So, it seems like I will be going on a hunt for flavorful oils, herbs, spices and Earth Balance soy free spread.
-
I thought I answered this topic already, what happened to my response?
ETA: Oh, never mind, it was a similar thread yesterday: http://www.celiac.co...ter-substitute/
Hope those answers help you some.
That's what I get for being a little lazy today. I briefly thought about searching for a similar post but couldn't be bothered... and my veg had already been tossed in the pot. Yes, those answered did help. I am wondering now if the Earth Farm? (bad memory....) soy free replacement is available in Canada, the website seemed to be for the US.
I used Almond Milk to help stick the herbs to my cauliflower and broccoli- it was actually quite nice.

Hi, I am wondering if anyone knows of an alternative to butter that does not contain - gluten, soy or dairy? If it's a lost cause, can you give me ideas on:
How to flavor my veggies so they are a little more enticing
How to replace butter in recipes appropriately/ get over not being able to eat buttery things
Any tips appreciated, even if it is "Suck it up, Buttercup!"

It was an Ensure High-Protein drink. Here is a link to the ingredient information. Open Original Shared Link As far as I can tell, it is indeed gluten free and completely loaded with soy on top of soy. I'm working on ridding my kitchen of soy products. Not much so far has had to go. I'm dreading parting with my Chapman's Icecream. I'm keeping that until after my allergy tests. I'm going tomorrow to speak to a doctor about it and to see if there is anything else they can discover that I'm allergic to before I stumble upon it in a nasty manner like this soy. Then in a couple of weeks... maybe when the weather is gross again I'll try out some shredded wheat.
-
You say you felt better after going gluten free. Instead of doing a gluten challenge why not do a soy challenge. Eliminate all soy for a period of time and then reintroduce soy to judge your reaction it.
Having drank that one soy beverage and being sick for a week with previous similar episodes I believe soy is evil and I never want to touch it again. More so than gluten.
-
I know it's more likely that I have both. But as I have never tested for soy allergy and my gluten tests came back negative I thought MAYBE as many gluten things have soy that it was the soy I was reacting to all along.
-
I am just wondering your thoughts on this. I have been running on the assumption that I am gluten intolerant. All my tests were negative a year ago after being gluten free for 2 weeks. My symptoms did improve on a naturally gluten free diet. On some replacement foods my stomach had mild symptoms. When having gluten free deep fried foods I would have severely adverse reactions- fryers were confirmed absolutely contaminated with gluten so I figure it was a case of super contamination. However, recently I tried a gluten free soy beverage and had a massive week long reaction that seems to fit with a severe soy allergy based on some internet searches. I am wondering if maybe I have a soy allergy and not gluten intolerance at all because many gluten products have soy as well. Do you think I should try a purely gluten challenge (ie: shredded wheat (100% wheat)) to see if there is a reaction or not? I had another look at the ingredient list of all the items I tested out gluten on a year ago to see the reaction and they all had soy products in them as well.

Which store? I haven't seem them in Calgary yet.
Chex has been spotted by someone on the Calgary Celiac Community Facebook group in Coop North Hill location. Also, Udi's at Safeway (Westbrook Mall at least) is on sale for 4.89- sale ends tomorrow (found them today and stocked up on a whole TWO LOAVES!)

Yes, it is common for symptoms to appear a couple days later. It's what makes it so hard to pin point what is causing the problem when starting out or when you have no idea that gluten can even do that to people. It also makes it difficult to know which food you ate that was CC'd. Pain in the butt!
I have no idea how to alleviate the pain but I like to think that I eat extra healthy and drink extra water during that time to help it go away faster- flush it out. But in reality, I am so mentally not with it that I have no real memories of my CC days.
-
The symptoms you have sound all too familiar and common to this board. I'm not diabetes savvy so I too cannot offer any helpful advice but you could be on to something with having both diabetes and celiac (or the celiac caused the type 2).
