  1. My nutritionist recommends Eden...but I'm now off all beans which is a great tragedy in my life. *sob* She says I can trial them again in about 6 months. But on a positive note, dropping beans and corn seem to be helping with the pain issues I continued to have after going gluten-free!

    I have other food allergies besides being celiac. I use some Bush beans, but mostly Lucks, ( in the south) I do great with Lucks! Good luck! I know other beans have been mentioned (Eden) and they are gluten-free, however, the cost is much.

  2. Well, i still have the big "C", but it maybe slowly resolving itself. Things are slowly moving, not my usual, but better than nothing. Still cramping a bit, but less often than before.

    My stomach still hates me, making me go nausous rather easily. No idea why its still doing this.

    No fever.

    My lady parts have also been irritated. I do not think that it is a uti because it is only slightly irritated at the end of urination, kinda like using a rather rough tp over the area. Everything else is normal. I do wear long panty liners when i go out, but i do not when i am in my apartment. I have been occasionaly taking cranberry pills just in case though.

    The last time i felt like this was when my gi doctor said to take benifiber twice a day. The irritation is what i used to get as well.

    I take showers nightly an d those seem to help. Pills tend to give me belly aches.

    I had to start using organic liners and pads a few years ago. I don't know if this is your problem,but made a world of difference for me.

    When I need a laxative, I use Fletchers Lax for children. gluten-free and gentle.

    Yogurt would help yeast, but also put good bacteria in there, if you can eat dairy. I hope you feel better soon.

  3. When Udi's first came out with their hotdog and hamburger buns, I was excited to get some for my daughter who had gone without for so long. What happens when you do without for years? Your taste buds change . . . you develop a new norm. She hates buns on her hot dogs and hamburgers. "It's too dry. It soaks up all my ketchup" :P

    What do you do with a package of hotdog buns? I make little garlic breads out of them for spaghetti night . . . she loves them. She loves the buns, just not on her hotdogs. :lol:

    Udi's and Rudi's are interchangeable here. All depends on which one is on sale. I love that I can get them both at my local Kroger and it's cheaper than Whole Foods.

    I've used the Ener-G bread for bread crumbs. It was fine in the finished product but even the smell is bad . . . way too yeasty or somethin'.

    I sometimes use the hotdog rolls for sub sandwiches. I agree,sometimes I'd rather have a hotdog without the bun.

  4. I think Udis is best (especially the buns) thawed in tinfoil at room temp, then gently warmed in tinfoil. I toast the slice bread slightly for a sandwich. I've tried a few gluten-free breads and Udis is one of the best. I'm looking forward to trying their new dinner rolls and muffin tops! I think each of us have a different way to warm/heat and eat our gluten-free bread. My gluten eating family members do not like any gluten-free bread I've had. they will eat Udi if it is a grilled cheese sammy. Enjoy!!

  5. Thanks! :) I did want my children tested, my daughter is all for it, but my son does not want to. They both saw what I had to go through and how sick I became. I'm pushing for them to go. They will all be living with me and eating some gluten-free because that is all I cook. However, if tested, they eat enough gluten outside the home to count. I lost both my parents and all grandparents, so I won't know which side I recieved this gene. None of my family members from either side has Celiac. I have 4 siblings and they are neg for celiac. I do have a sister with lupus.

    I'm loving being a grandmother..he is so beautiful and we are so blessed!

  6. Hi everyone! I'm a grandmom! My son welcomed his son on August 30! My thoughts beyond loving every minute of it. I'm wondering if the Celiac gene hit him, you know?

    My children do not show signs and their DR said to wait for signs or symptoms before they are tested.

    How many of you are concerned about passing the gene on? This baby boy is such a blessing and while holding him, I wondered silently...did I pass this on to you?

    Anyone relate??

  7. I have never heard of washing chicken breasts before cooking them, but I do wash apples with dish detergent and then rinse them well before eating.

    Why do you wash chicken? Just curious. Does anyone else do this?

    Growing up my Mother rinsed off her chicken and told me to do the same. She washed bone in chiken with skin on. If I'm roasting a whole chicken, I tend to rinse it off inside and out. I think my Mom thought it was best to rinse it of blood etc. I buy organic thin breast usually and do not wash them.

  8. I would also look at any lip products you are using for any other allergen that could be added to it. I found out I had a few food allergies and had to throw out lip products that had nut oils and soy was a big one for me. I was eating so very little and still hurting, it wasn't until I found out soy and certain fruits were a problem for me that I started to feel better. Hang in there.

  9. And something else I found out is Turner Stadium is one of, if not the only stadium that will allow you to bring in your own food/drinks. It has to be in a soft sided cooler and they will check it.

    The gluten-free counter was pretty cool. They had a very limited menu of course but they had good looking stuff. And the price was what all the other venders were. I didn't get anything because I was already sick from being too hot. One thing I did notice is that there is a huge possibility of CC. It was like a vender cart type thing and attached to the other side of the cart, was the Budweiser beer cart. <_<

    Budweiser :( It would be great if they put a gluten-free beer on the other side! However, good to have a choice out too!

  10. I've had a few different experiences with Panera, which used to be my Sunday lunch spot. When I was newly DX, I asked if they would change gloves because the asst manager on duty refused to make my salad from the back. When I felt ill afterwards the girl who took my order asked if he had, he admitted he had not taken the request serious. That being said, I watched the line servers prepare orders while I waited for my daughters to go order. It didn't really matter if he had changed gloves because the croutons and tortila strips where right beside the lettus. I know others have eaten at panera and been okay. Mine does not bake in the store. I think it really depends on the Manager on duty at the time and what they will do for you. I know mine has a book which tells you what is and isn't gluten free. I would contact them and when it is a slow time, go in and talk to the managers.

  11. I haven't eaten at my local wendy's because I saw the cook make burgers,then add chicken to salads. He cut the breaded chicken for a salad and then the grilled chicken on the same counter with the same cutter. I know I could ask to change gloves etc, but I'm worried how the salads were prepared even before the chicken. Has anyone had success with a salad from there?

    I can't have the chili because I'm allergic to tomato.

  12. I was in pain for 11 months after going gluten free. I broke my diet down to whole foods, dairy free, nightshade free, and no grains at all. I was desperate to feel okay again. I kept a food diary and that helped. I found out certain fruits my body could not digest well. I was food allergy tested and that helped, but I still had the bloating etc. I found out that soy was a problem for me. I realized one day, after lunch, I still felt okay! Soybean oil was in the lip balm I was wearing and I had forgotten it that day. I would look at corn, dairy, soy and nuts. Look at the top allergens as perhaps a problem for you. Hugs! I know what it's like to keep being in pain. I'm gluten-free for two years and I still have good and bad days. hang in there!

  13. I usually order the chargrilled chicken garden salad. I have asked the managers(of the three I eat at) and they tell me the salads either have a seperate room or station. I don't eat out much, but this is usually safe for me. Enjoy!

  14. Just wanted to share that my kids and my gluten-eating husband really liked the new Rudi's gluten-free tortillas - we tried both regular and fiesta. I always hate to buy new products for fear they won't be liked and it will be a waste, but these were a big hit!

    I tried them on vacation and loved them! I've asked my local organic market to order them for me. I warmed them in the oven wrapped in foil. They were much more softer than what I've tried, i doubled checked to make sure it was gluten-free.

  15. Another vote for Red Apple Lipstick. They have a lipstick "exchange" program whereby you send in your old used lipstick for a discount on their stuff. I sent in 3 lipsticks/glosses and bought 2 lipsticks and 1 gloss. I love them. I have Ruby Slippers and Strawberry and both are very flattering colors.

    At first I wasn't sure, but saw that the "celiac Diva" used these and reviewed them. They were very fast in answering all my questions. I'm gluten-free of course, but also nut, soy free. I have no problems with the lipsticks at all. I will tell you some are lighter on the lips than other. I have both and I love both. they have a few shades that are shimmers. I love that. The are a very sweet couple that really care about putting out a great product.

  16. Have you tried Red Apple Lipstick? I love their lipsticks, glosses and balm. They are gluten-free, paraben free, vegan, etc. They have amazing customer service and when I bought my first couple I cringed at the price (I have never been one to pay a lot for cosmetics since I don't wear them very often) but I've gotta say they are totally worth it.

    Red Apple has developed eyeliners and are about to introduce eye shadows. I guess they hope to roll out all sorts of gluten-free cosmetics but are taking it very slowly and doing lots of testing to make sure the products are of high quality but pass all the tests they give them. I've been so impressed with their lip products I will happily buy any other products they develop!

    I agree with Red Apple! I have three lipsticks and two glosses. I love that the shades are pink! They are super sweet, check out their page on Facebook.

  17. So, I went into my local store today and they not only had this, but the Wallaby's cheese ups! If you haven't tried those you should!

    I bought the cider and it was cheaper than woodchuck. 6 pack at 6.99

    It taste like the suckers at Halloween, very granny smith apple. Way tart like the suckers, but without the carmel.

    It wouldn't be my first choice, I like Woodchuck, but a nice try.
