I understand about wasting food, but I would toss them if there was any chance they were beside any gluten containing desert. That's just me, because I'm very sensitive to CC.
If you watch gluten eating people, they are somewhat messy with how they get things out of containers and such. I'm not saying they are slobs in anyway, don't get me wrong. They just don't have to worry about crumbs. My family can have a ton of crumbs on the taablecloth. They also don't get it that I dont like their plate to cross over mine.
I usually get me out two or three to save, then share the rest. Anything I make to share, I save some for me. Then I take a portion out and put in a safe dish to take to the party.

Does anyone know if the vaginal creme, metronidazole by Prasco is gluten free? My pharmacy said they were "resonable" sure the ingrediants are gluten-free, but after using it once, my sides are in pain and cramping. So, not sure if it was my food or this. I had rice, greenbeans and chicken. I've tried to google it and look on gfdrugs.com. I have't found anything yet. Thanks

Just a simple apple with peanut butter and black coffee.
I count my blessings that I can have peanut butter. I think a peanut allergy would be far harder to live with than a gluten intolerance.
I have a peanut allergy and it is hard to live without! The real kicker for me was finding out I'm allergic to tomatos! I can find gluten-free bread as a relacement, but not a summer tomato. I loved hot toast with peanut butter.

I don't like using the microwaves at work. Sometimes I break down and use it, but today it was a cold lunch.Today I put in one long container small dark green leaf salad with blueberries and blackberries, sliced baked chicken and rice. I don't mind eating cold rice. All with a natural balsamic dressing.

I make a bacon and cheese quiche. This year I may include a few things to make a "brunch" type meal. Ham slices, deviled eggs, not sure what else yet.

Love the above ideas. How many mouths are you feeding?
Deviled eggs have made a huge trendy resurgence. My favourites are flavoured with a touch of horseradish and a bit of brandy.

Would you have time to make potato skins? They are making a comeback, too. They may need to be reheated but do not need to be eaten piping hot.
Ooey gooey honey garlic chicken wings, meatballs or pork ribs are delicious. Heck, so are mozzarella-stuffed meatballs. Any meatballs!
Spicy roasted walnuts are delicious as long as no one attending is allergic to nuts.
I make a yummy app using poached shrimp served on horseradish beet coulis. Sounds tricky but it's embarassingly simple. I throw some coulis on a platter, add some peppery arugula and arrange shrimp on top. Very pretty and unique.
As far as great dips go, Green Goddess is making a comeback. Yesterday I made roasted carrot hummus - incredibly simple. Or how about an herbed ricotta dip?

Thanks guys! I'm going with the deviled eggs, some guacamole, humus, raw veggies, and chips. I would love the roasted carrot humus recipe. I'm taking the rest of my food with me for the salad, and main meal. Not sure if I want to bring desert or not for right now.

I need a quick easy appetizer for a progressive dinner tonight. I thought raw veggies and dip, but wondered if you all had something different. For some reason my mind is drawing a blank.

How about horseradish root? i like the ginger idea as well.

I use a store brand white popcorn kernel. I put enough oil in the pan to just barely cover the kernels. Add salt! I shake the pan alittle also. You need to cover the bottom of pot with the kernels, not piled up. My kids love my popcorn and do not want to eat microwave popcorn ever. Good luck!

I went corn free and soy free. It wasn't until I went soy free, that I had a low pain day. When that happened, I asked myself "what did I do differently today" I didn't use my using Burts Bees hcapstick that day. It has soybean oil in it. I stopped that and all soy and have some pretty good days. However, I think I have a hard time still digesting raw veggies and I have to stay away from apples and pears. I have since added in some popcorn here and there and do okay with it. Corn sryup still nails me. I experimented with a low oxilate diet, then whole food diet.

I haven't had a good experience with Chebe lately. It's so sticky, any tips? Would love to make some of these.

Just a quick comment . . . you can't use the Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup for green bean casserole. Check Pacific Foods Cream of Mushroom or Progresso's Creamy Mushroom (it's got slices of mushrooms...which doesn't work at my house unless I puree it because heaven forbid we see a mushroom in our casserole!
)
When I used the progresso mushroom soup, it was kinda loose, so I used cornstarch to thicken it. I also used the funyuns. My kids loved it more than the campbell's.

Samie- I use the Campbell's Green Bean Casserole recipe, but here's what I do so it's gluten-free:
I use La Choy soy sauce or Tamari sauce, I either make my own condensed mushroom soup or I use the can of Progresso's mushroom soup and drain my green beans and nix any extra water. As far as the French's Fried Onions, I use (get ready for it....).....FUNIONS. They work perfect. My DH and my in-laws say they like it BETTER with the Funions and they're really the only ones I fix the GBC for; I just make it gluten-free b/c I don't make ANYTHING that's NOT. LOL. Hope this helps ya!
This is how I made it last year(progresso and funyons, however, I'm now soy free. I'm not sure if I want to make my own soup or just fresh greenbeans. I'm looking forward to the stuffing. I'm making it with bread this year. Thanks for the suggestions everyone! What's the best way to toast the bread for stuffing? I am used to cornbread dressing, so I need a little help with the bread stuffing. Thanks! I know the recipe I'm going to use, but haven't decided how to handle the gluten-free bread best.

Thank! I only cook gluten-free now and wanted this mostly for my children.

Mine did not turn out so well last night. Any suggestions on the dough part? I used Chebe, and I didn't like it. Trying to master this for the up coming holidays. Thanks!!

I have former co workers that want to get together at a McAlisters Deli. I thought they might have an allergen menu, but can't find one. I could just get an ice tea and talk? Thought I'd ask, I've not seen this one mentioned before. Thanks.

Does anyone know of a sauce that is soy and peanut free. I have rice wrappers I'm dying to try! Thanks!

Why can I not find a pretty lipgloss and cream for my face?!!! I've emailed and called companies for over a year!! No one wants to be nice or informative.

Yes, soon the tables and the floor will be their job. This was only the first week. They're not terribly skilled at it, unfortunately, but this class does seem to be one that is VERY excited about helping. Perhaps their skill will grow. I'll keep the gloves in mind. Part of our curriculum focuses on environmental responsibility. It's hard for me to use baby wipes and gloves on a regular basis knowing how much extra trash that generates, and it's hard to figure out how to explain it to them. That's just my mental block though. I know if I were talking to someone else in this situation I'd encourage them to do whatever they needed to do to stay healthy. But somehow it's hard for me to do that for myself...
But yes, I get the freaking out over birthdays. Being surrounded by gluten brings up a lot of anxiety now. And we haven't even gotten to birthdays yet. Yikes.
I did a little searching online and found they make earth friendly "green" food gloves, you might look into that. I'll think about this situation. I'm seriously thinking of changing jobs because of all the gluten. I'm of course Celiac, but also allergic to wheat and barley.

I know there are other teachers here, as well as others who might have ideas...
Last spring I eliminated gluten in utter desperation and was amazed at the difference it made. I wouldn't say I'm functioning at full speed at all, but I'm so much better than I was. My reactions to CC are not as violent as some people's descriptions, thankfully, but I get really tired, get headaches and brain fog, joint pain, and digestive ick. Oh yeah, and I get cranky/depressed. Basically, I feel like I've been hit by a truck, but I lived in that condition for over 10 years before figuring it out, so I'm kind of used to pushing through it.
The challenge is, I teach 4 and 5 year-olds. We had to eliminate gluten in our house because we have a 3 and a 5 year-old, and the CC from them and just from having it around was getting to me. However, I really can't make my classroom gluten-free. And the kids eat lunch there. And snack. And this year breakfast is available in the classroom as well. Is there any way I can manage this so that I'm not CCing myself constantly? I'm having kids wash their hands and faces after eating (I also brought in baby wipes so they can use those if sending them to the bathroom down the hall is not working). I clean the tables and sweep after lunch. I wash my hands as often as I can, and definitely before I eat anything, but we're at the point in the year where I really can't take breaks, so I still have to eat in the classroom, and am often helping them with stuff while trying to eat. Something got me this week, of course. Is there anything else I can do, or is this a hopeless situation?
Thanks!
I'm a teacher aide in kindergarten. It is rough! I'm lucky that I don't need to be in breakfast and my teacher passes out snack. One thing we do that I like is to give each child a baby wipe after snack and they clean the tables. I make sure they get the crumbs off. I wear food gloves to sweep. At lunch I wear food gloves and from the start teach the children how to open their own milks etc. I carry soap with me to the lunchroom and after I help every child, then I take the gloves off and go wash my hands. I would suggest the gloves and see if the children can wipe their own table after lunch. I also am teaching the children how to clean the table and sweep own their own at lunch. We make it a job and rotate it. For now I wear gloves doing this, but soon they will now how to do it on their own. Good luck! We had two birthday parties this past week and it makes me want to freak out!

I am looking for suggestions of what to eat while sick, specifically for adults.
I have been off gluten and yeast for just over a year and I've managed to find replacements and solutions for almost every occasion except one.... SICK FOOD!
I am sick this week (flu) and I'm realising that I am completely LOST!
I haven't really been sick since I've been off gluten (that's a nice change!!) and as a result, I haven't found any replacements for satisfying, quick, and easy to make sick foods! The kind of foods that feel good to eat when your sick...
SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!
Note: I can't eat toast (yeast), and I can't eat canned anything - soup included...
Also when you're sick as an adult, there is no way you are about to make a complicated or labour intensive meal when you can barely get out of bed and only have one arm available to use because the other is holding a kleenex to your nose! So quick and easy is what I'm looking for!
All I ate this week was corn pasta and potatoes....
Many thanks in advance
I love jasmine rice, but I also eat potatos when I'm sick.Love the ginger snap idea if you can do that. Do you eat dairy? I know some people cannot eat eggs when sick, but scrambled eggs? I hope you feel better quick!

I usually make chicken and rice soup or egg drop soup. If I don't even feel good enough to make those I eat plain rice, bananas, rice cakes with peanut butter and Pamela's ginger snaps and ginger Ale if my stomach is upset at all.
Could you post your recipes for chicken and rice soup? I was sick on my stomach 2 weeks ago and longed for campbells chicken noodle. I have made it, but it tasted like something was missing. Thanks
