Hi there!
Has anybody tried them yet? I'm scared to death to put anything different in my mouth : ) It contains buckwheat flour now.
Thanks!

I had horrible issues with it until I got rid of dairy. As soon as the gluten and dairy went away, so did the constipation. Orange juice actually helps with it. It draws water into the matter and helps it pass. I have a big glass of OJ every morning when I get up!

I've read there have been studies done that show corn is as toxic to us as gluten. It's a cross reactive thing that happens and our bodies don't realize it's not gluten and starts freaking out. I was sick all last week from corn. I'm finally starting to feel better. I cannot eat it or I get stomach issues, face breaks out, headaches, fatigue....a lot like the gluten issues I used to have. I say avoid it all together, when you can!

Hello,
Anybody else had a reaction to old bay? I had it on chicken wings (I made at home totally gluten free otherwise) and seasoned them w/ old bay. Had loose bowels for two days. Waited a couple weeks and tried it again...same thing.
Thanks!

Tons of water and rest. I try to stick to whole foods only, nothing processed. I also won't dare eat out or allow anybody cook for me until I'm over it. I got sick last week. I'm just now feeling better. Now if my skin would clear up, that would be wonderful : ).

I cannot eat corn anymore. It gives me migraine headaches, bloating, and gas. Is not as bad as the gluten reaction but my body doesn't like it at all. It's also all gmo at this point, so I guess we really shouldn't eat it anyway!

Hi friends,
I learned last May that i was gluten intolerant and spent the summer discovering hidden gluten and having a hard time while traveling. Once home I was able to have greater control over my diet and I hadn't been sick since! Yay for veggies for breakfast! After a few glorious months without any reactions (and also eliminating corn, soy, and chocolate) I was feeling pretty chuffed. I felt like I had everything under control. I was well on the road to healing and good health. Life was fine. And So I went to a restaurant where I used to go with my family, my 4 year old son's favorite place. Despite my conversations with the manager I got gluttened. Yuck.
At least the reaction was not as intense as it had been. Instead of being in bed for 3days with depression, joint ache, etc in addition to the digestive ills there was only the digestive ills. Since we traveled on Monday I was able to push through the discomfort and pack and travel.
The problem is that since then I am still feeling sick. I brought my own food to the airport. I drank from my own water bottle there. I have been doing my own cooking since then. Granted my young kids, husband and mother are all eating gluten but they are also schooled to avoid cross contamination. But something must be happening. I am getting worse, when I only want to get better!
I have read threads about cross contamination with pots n pans, with cutting boards, etc., but I haven't had to change these things at my house so why would we need to change them here? And I can't figure out what is going on. Our first day here I ate turkey lunchmeat (a possible culprit since the I couldn't read the ingredients, but last summer was OK...it's the roasted turkey breast from Trader Joes) then homemade chicken soup. Yesterday I had leftover soup and homemade beef stew, again made by me from fresh veggies and meat. I also made paleo bread which I had for breakfast today. My other two breakfasts were shredded sweet potato with an egg and gluten free bacon (I did read the package which said no gluten and also didn't have corn or soy or dairy).
Ugh. It was so nice to live symptom free! I had actually forgotten how bad it could actually get. And now I am paying the price again. Yuck. It is hard not knowing why, as I don't know what to correct. I just want my stomach to feel regular again. It is so hard to go back to living with pain after months of clean healthy living!
Thanks for listening to my vent! And I am open to listening to your ideas about cc or whatever might be the problem.
I got sick last week also. It was bad : (. My belly hurt until Tuesday, six days after it happened. My body didn't react the same way as before, but it was bad...for sure gluten. I ate at BJ's and had the gluten free pizza that wasn't. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

my brother recently told me that a gal he dated is celiac and cannot drink red wine because the wine barrels are sealed with flour paste -
I inquired of a friend who manages a winery - this is her response, after questioning her wine maker:
Apparently it's common practice to seal the barrel heads with flour paste. It's a mixture of unbleached flour and distilled water used to assure a leak-proof seal. Here's the web site with more info
http://www.stavin.com/barrelsystems/insert.htm
Does anyone have additional information on this topic ??????
Thank you.
I drink fish eye cab often and never had any gluten reactions. I've emailed them and they confirmed there is no gluten. I'm sensitive also!

Has anyone had symptoms similar to this after consuming vinegar? My eyelids and skin below my eyebrows puffed up and turned bright pink, I felt fairly dazed and had a hard time moving my arms, got nauseous and was ill, and then for the next 3 days felt completely lethargic and listless. I'm pretty freaked out by the reaction but I never went to the doctor because I wasn't really sure what happened. My other question is has anyone with vinegar issues been able to eat other types of vinegar (such as apple cider vinegar)? Thanks
Could be a corn issue. Just recently connected some gluten yoe reactions I was getting to corn, which a lot of vinegar is made from. Apple cider doesn't bother me.

Hello!
I'm having surgery tomorrow because of a serverly atypical mole on my back. I had Stage I Melanoma in 2004. They aren't putting me under, just a local. Any problems with that as far as gluten goes? If I need pain meds, what can I take without getting sick? I also cannot have dairy or eggs either.
Thanks!

That stinks. Something got me also. Huge stomach also, now my skin is freaking out and I'm getting moody! Oh what fun this is. FYI, Better double check Gas-X...think it contains gluten!

Hello everyone!
Anybody had issues with Rao's marinara sauce or Venice Bakery pizza crusts? I had both, which was a new food for me, and instant stomach issues. Still recovering two days later. Both are marked gluten free.
Thanks!

Hello!
Does anybody have a list, that is current, of gluten free alcohol by type or brand? I'm searching now and finding a lot of outdated info and conflicting information as well. We are taking a vacation to Key West in three weeks and I'd like to drink something other than wine. I will not and do not drink Vodka. It makes me sick. I'm normally a rum and juice kinda gal : )
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
P.S. Anybody that has been to The Keys recently that has anything to add, feel free! We rented a condo w/ a full kitchen.

I am traveling to Key West in April and wondering if anyone has any recommendations for where to eat? I'll bring some food with me for the hotel for snacking (cheese, rice crackers, nuts, peanut butter), but for daily lunches or dinner, just wondering if anyone has recommendations? The few postings I found on this topic were quite old. I appreciate your help!
We are going in May and I was wondering the same thing! Please let me know what you find after you get back. We are renting a house w/ a kitchen. Good luck!!

Thanks for that! Yes it does make it hard to figure things out! This Celiac just loves throwing curve ball at you!
Yeah I agree. I started to realize other foods I was reacting to as well...can't eat eggs or dairy since going gluten free. Can't breath with dairy and constipation, eggs make my heart race and my throat get itchy!

Since I went gluten free I have never knowingly eaten gluten. I've only gotten exposed to gluten through cc, until Sunday. I ate something the family I work with offered me. They have never before given me something that would make me sick. It was my fault because I forgot to ask what type of chocolate to make it. But OMG. I have been so sick. I thought it was bad with cc. But this is 1000x worse. I hate my life.
I'm so sorry : ( Hope you get to feeling better soon. I normally take an epsom salt bath and drink lots of water to try to detox my body. I takes me a good week to get everything back to normal. Hang in there, I know it sucks!

Hello!
I've been gluten free for nearly two years. I've become more and more concerned about a reaction to food to the point I'm avoiding things I may be able to eat. Can somebody please ease my mind or confirm my fears about what I may eat? I keep eating the same stuff day after day and it's getting old!
Here are my foods of concern:
Pickles, Boar's Head. I know they say all their stuff is gluten free but it has vinegar, that is my concern.
Sauerkraut-Boar's Head in a bag.
Rum, I use to drink Malibu and haven't since. I only drink red wine now. I cannot drink vodka, it kills my stomach!
I feel like all I eat is chicken, fish, red meat, fruit, and veggies! Please give me some advice!
P.S. I cannot have nuts, eggs, or dairy either!
Thanks so much!!

It's really starting to hit me I will never be allowed to have certain things. Going out with my friends is no longer fun I dont like wine or beer and can never find potato vodka at restaurants office parties are always terrible and there are never foods I can eat. I can't have my fried Mac and cheese from cheesecake anymore. This is very depressing I feel left out from the world and no seems to care. I also just found that I have a heart condition and must limit my salt which is what makes most gluten free processed foods tolerable. Any ideas so I can get myself out of this funk?
I know how you feel. The holidays make this very hard also. Everybody tries to cook me gluten free and I don't want to eat it. We all know first hand how many hazards are lurking around every corner. I would love to go out to eat and not have a panic attack doing it. I've been gluten free for almost two years and I feel so much better physically, but I feel like I miss out or get labeled as the weird o. I had a friend tell me to just forget about it for a day and eat it....if she only knew how sick I get and how much pain I'm in when it happens by mistake! Then I have the occasional person tell me that's why I'm small, I'm a picky eater. I've gained 6 lbs off gluten. I agree, it sucks. Don't think we have a choice, so guess it is what it is.

the specialist at our local childrens hospital told us our daughter in no way had issues with gluten as her ttg was normal the two times it was tested, and the fact she was growing
well we decided to trust mommy instinct, and 2 days gluten free i have my happy, spunky, funny 2 yr old back, no 2 hr tantrums, no clinging to my side
we are going back to our original gastro, he suggested gluten-free no matter what the tests said, and he was right!
I don't care what a test says...it can be wrong! If she's better off of it, keep it that way! Glad you trusted yourself!

So, on Friday night, we went to dinner and I was very careful about the handling of the food. I won't name the restaurant, because it is not their fault....it's my own stupid fault. I woke up Saturday morning and my stomach felt all bubbly and yucky.......so started the wonderful day I had....D started around 11am....but this time the mental issues were 10 times worse than the stomach issues.....I literally sounded like I was under the influence. I would start a sentence and have to speak very slowly to remember the words I was intending to say. I have never had this before. My husband and I were going out on Saturday night to see a show, and he asked me to look at a GPS map on his phone, and I could not figure out which direction we were headed on the map. It was scary. I slept until 11am on Sunday morning, and I still felt worn out. This reaction took everything out of me. Has anyone experienced a reaction like this before? I am really sensitive-I get hives in the grocery store-we believe this is from the bakery in the store. UGH.......
I've had very similar things happen. I had a friend ask me if I had been drinking because I was slurring my words. I tried playing a board game with my husband and couldn't do multiples of 5! My memory gets really bad as well. I do not get hives from the store but I've had weird rashes appear prior to going gluten free. Mostly were on my stomach and looked like a heat rash. The one constant is that I bloat REALLY bad and it hurts! The next day I'm yucky and feel sore, like somebody punched me in the stomach. I get so tired also, feel like I could sleep all day and still need more...sucks!

Hello!
I went to Chick fil a today for an iced tea. I noticed a sign on the menu that all the french fries are now fried in canola oil vs the peanut oil. Anybody tried them yet? They still have the fries on the gluten free menu and everything looks the same...just curious.

I know a lot of you here have the big D, but I have and have always had quite the opposite. I can go days, even weeks without going. I have had every test known to man and nothing is "physically" wrong. They say it is just the way I am wired and should improve now that I have been diagnosed. That some celiacs are constipated. I have only been gluten-free for 10 days. The nausea has improved as has the bloating but the constipation seems to have gotten worse. I eat plenty of fiber and drink plenty of fluids. HMMMM... any tips of the trade would be appreciated. Thanks
I had the same issues you are dealing with...I'm sorry : ( Fresh orange juice (I juice them myself) every morning does the trick for me. I also cut back BIG time on dairy...since doing that I've noticed a HUGE difference! Sometimes prunes would work also.
Good luck!

I have been having a heck of a time lately. I was glutened last Thurs. I had all of the symptoms that I always get. I have been getting a new symptom though. You know how with celiac, you have mucus or oily drops floating. (TMI) I know. Do you ever just have the oily/mucus discharge after a bout of D from being glutened? It's freaking me out a little b/c it's always been in the stool but now sometimes I feel like I have to go and thats all that comes out the oily stuff.
Thanks so much!
Yes, I use to have that before going gluten free. It was really bad after having a pasta dinner...go figure!

Hi!
Have any of you ate them recently and if so, any reaction? I called them and they said they are gluten free, but do not certify the plant. I'll trust what other stomaches say : )
Thanks!
