  1. I read this as I was eating popcorn. I love to buy the 100-calorie bags and add a pinch of garlic and parmesan!
  2. And really, you can't blame the server. It's not something I was really aware of until I was diagnosed, as is true of many other people. It's frustrating, yes, but let's be proactive instead of just getting frustrated.
  3. As a server, I can say that I've been the one who's needed to educate the whole staff. It isn't something a chef, owner, GM, or server is trained on, and I don't foresee that changing any time soon unless WE are the ones to educate and bring awareness to the issue.

  5. Just picked up a 2lb bag of this at the local co-op. It has garbanzo and corn flour among other things. I'm wondering how long this will keep and if you guys have any amazing recipes I can make with it? I'm new to gluten-free cooking for myself. I'm tired of the expense of pre-made gluten-free products. Thanks, guys!
  6. Wow, yeah. I've never noticed that before - I have horizontal lines on all of my fingertips. The thumbs are the most prominent.
  7. I'm 22, and I've recently noticed some cut-like lines across the tops of my cheekbones. They're pretty far from my eyes, on the top of the bones. Has anyone else developed these? I really don't think they're due to aging or not taking care of my skin, because I'm not hard on it at all, don't smoke, and use facial cleaner and moisturizer every day. I didn't think it possible that it was connected to Celiac until I read this post and found some others elsewhere. This one attributes the indents to "allergies." It's so easy to attribute everything to Celiac when you're first diagnosed, I guess. Haha...
  8. This is blowing my mind! And they really have stopped since I've gone gluten-free, despite the definite rise in temp outside over the last week. It's great to actually be in tune with my body and be able to see these changes both physically and emotionally. You guys are superstars!
  9. I wait up almost every night DRENCHED in sweat. My boyfriend woke me up last night to make sure I was ok, because my hair was soaked. Has this happened to anyone else, and how do you cope with it? I was diagnosed on Tuesday and started gluten-free diet then. Do you think this is part of Celiac?
  10. I'm not overwhelmingly improved yet. I still get horrible nightsweats every night. But, I am noticing a bit more energy than I've had over the last two months. So glad to hear that you're starting to feel better! Here's to it continuing even more in that direction. Congrats on the two months

  12. tinkity - I actually started eating fish again as well! As for the brand you mentioned - I'll definitely check it out. I'm trying to stay positive about all of this, since it's kind of forcing me to stay away from processed foods (though I'm still a sucker for Envirokidz Panda Puffs!!!!) Above all else, though, I'm so thankful to have found this forum. It's great to know that I can get responses from people dealing with the same thing, especially since I don't have insurance and couldn't afford it otherwise. You guys are all rockstars!!
  13. tTg test came back negative. Doc says to stay gluten-free and come back in to see her, but I'm so confused and frustrated.
  14. I was diagnosed Tuesday as well. Was gluten-free for 4 months, then had to redamage myself on the gluten challenge for 2 months. Now that I actually have a diagnosis, I realize that half-assing this just isn't a reality. Some things that I stocked up on today: Grapes Strawberries Grapefruit Oikos Greek Yogurt (the smaller 4 oz size with a few cut up strawberries makes the perfect breakfast) Envirokidz Panda Puffs cereal with almond milk Envirokidz Peanut Butter Rice Crisp bars Salmon filets Frozen veggies Wild and basmati rice Eggs That alone has been great thus far. Card-wise, I'm a huge fan of Envirokidz cereals (you can find them at most supermarkets) and check out your supermarket's gluten-free section, as most have them! Trader Joe's is AMAZING. They handed me a giant list with everything I could and couldn't purchase there.
