  1. I talked to my hubbie about it and I told him he could get his gluten fix when he's at work. He eat's out all the time because of his job so he shouldn't have a hard time with being gluten free at home. My kids are just going to have to eat what I make for them. I'm cleaning my house out this weekend. Thanks you guys!

  2. 73. Sleep in a separate room so you don't feel guilty about "gassing" anyone.

    74. Catch up on seasons of shows you missed or always wanted to watch.

    75. Take naps in the darkest, coldest room in the house.

    76. Wear the most comfortable clothes you own. You're going for comfort not speed!

    77. Make a HUGE pot of REAL chicken stock and white rice.

    78. Just slow down and relax. Spend time with family. Life can get so crazy we forget to some times. Sad we have to get sick to be able to justify JUST SITTING.

    79. Snuggle under a thick blanket and eat smoothies : )

    80. Let your loved one's take care of you. You always take care of them and they in turn like taking care of you.

  3. I wish I could tell you. I'm also trying to figure out what to do next. Know you're not alone and that there are MANY people who know how you feel. Everyone on this board is wonderful and they'll help you. Also, no question is a dumb question  Try talking to your priest and see if there is a way for you to use a rice cracker instead. It's important enough they might let it slide.

  4. I've been diagnosed with IBS, spastic colon, acid reflux disease, and an over active gallbladder (chronic D) by a GI. I had an ultrasound of my stomach etc, but there was so much gas in there the tech had a hard time seeing. Never had a "retake." Blood test came back borderline. The last GI I saw asked me where I was from. I said Mexico. To which he replied, You don't look Mexican, if you're Mexican you definitely don't have Celiac. Really? I didn't know if I should slap the man on his head or drop kick him. NEVER WENT BACK.

I've been diagnosed with fatty liver even though I limit my oil consumption to a tablespoon a day and eat as low fat as I can. I work out at least 3 days a week. Every other part of me loses weight except my stomach, which makes me look like I'm pregnant. I don't drink, smoke or do drugs. Anemia, eczema, frequent kidney infections, hipoglicemia, extreme exhaustion (I have 3 kids,) and depression by a general Dr. I'm glad that I didn't end up having Autoimmune Hepatitis like they originally thought.

My OBGYN told me to up my water intake because of frequent bladder infections. At one point a Gyno thought I might have uterine cancer.

I've tried to stay gluten free for months, but keep getting cc. I am the only gluten free in my house and I have little kids so there is MAJOR potential for cc. Took a recent trip with the hubbie and had major CC somewhere along the way. MAJOR reaction. So bad my husband who thought I was a hypochondriac asked me to see a Dr. SO, my dilemma!

I'm SO dizzy and have major brain fog. My grammar skills and spelling have tanked through the years so I wonder if I'm some how brain damaged and to what extent. Do I see a neurologist?

My joints have hurt on a consistent basis my whole life and my knuckles swell on and off. Do I see a rheumatologist?

Is there ONE Dr. that can help me with all this or do I have to keep seeing different Drs for different things and pray they can collectively heal me?

Is there a GOOD Dr on Maui or Oahu for that matter!! I'm at a loss. Please help me out.

  5. Did you end up getting a copy of your file? If you didn't you or your husband (whichever is calmest) should go back and get one. ALWAYS ask for a copy of THAT day, that way they can't give you sass about having to request and have it take days blah, blah, blah. That way you can also compare your bill vs. your record. Next Dr who pulls the same just say thank you and walk out. You're already going to pay them for the visit, no need and stay and be abused as well. There comes a point when you KNOW their speech is coming. I think those of us who've seen enough Drs. by now KNOW when it's coming. I think back on all the Drs who made me feel like I was crazy and wonder at the amount of people they have done the same to. I've walked out of Drs visits and looked around at the waiting room full of people and wanted to run to them and say "Run!" I hope the best for you and hope you find a good Dr. who actually cares.

  6. Don't ever worry about what a Dr tells you unless you have DEFINITIVE PROOF. In my very early 20's I was told I might have colon cancer once by my GI. All he really did was run blood work and push a bunch of pills at me saying all I had was an over active gallbladder, IBS and acid reflux. He never did anything else other than charge me for multiple office visits. I didn't go back to see him. Also in my 20's I was told I might have Uterine Cancer. Didn't pan out. The list goes on. Drs are taught how to treat symptoms, not how to actually CURE or prevent, so you have to go through a couple to find one that actually cares or isn't toooo burnt out by the time you see him. Hang in there. And I to agree on the double billing by Drs, etc. It's been done to me several times. Hang in there, things will get better :D Oh, always ask for a copy of your chart. Compare what you were billed for and what they actually did. I've been charged for stuff they never really did.

  7. Not having support at home makes things much harder than they already are. Hang in there. I think it's an awesome idea to see if your mom will give you a food allowance. You could also just ask her if you can do the shopping since she hates going and I'm sure she's so tired after working all day, etc. etc. I used to make the grossest food when I first started cooking. I still do some times actually. One thing you do have to do is cook when you have celiac/or are gluen intolerant. You're going to have to start cooking sooner or later. Give it a try. You could also make double the food and freeze portion size containers for quick meals when your parents do takeout. I did that for a little while.

  8. I think having anxiety and anxiety attacks scare me the most of the side effects of being glutened. I can deal with cramps, with migraines, D, bloating, etc. Anxiety is a whole other monster. You can feel it coming, creeping up and standing next to you. The thing that helps me when it's getting there is laying down on the floor face down. Slow steady deep breaths. I start concentrating on my feet. Feel each one of my toes, then up my foot, ankle. Work my way up until I calm down. I try not to cry because once I start crying I hyperventilate and it's hard to get past that. I also keep any white noise away. Crickets, fans, clocks. Staying gluten free keeps the anxiety away. It's amazing how those things on a gluten free day don't even register. Nothings tastes as good as being healthy feels is my mantra. It helped me kick the gluten during the first week.

  9. I would just really like to say thank you to ALL of you for being there. Thank you for responding to the posts and sharing. I'm the only one in my family (so far) with celiac. I don't really bother telling my husband anything any more because he blew me off as a hypochondriac years ago. I understand where he's coming from. Kind of like the way I feel about Drs. You hear so many different diagnosis and when nothing really seems to make you feel better you start to think maybe you really are just "making yourself sick" as one Dr put it. You guys are all wonderful and I'm glad I found you : )

  10. Because I am addicted to Cover Girl's lashblast mascara I called CoverGirl to find out IF THIS mascara was gluten/wheat free. I was told that it was gluten free as were most of their products. I asked where the vitamin E came from (wheat germ,) and the CSR said that it would say on the label if it were derived from wheat, barley, oats, etc and that this lashblast mascara was synthetic made.

I looked on the label and it doesn't really say. SO, is it or isn't it gluten free? I guess I still don't know enough about deciphering labels and am becoming distrustful of companies.

  11. Hi! I'm new and a bit lost and lonely. I've been almost totally gluten free for the past week and my body is freaking out. I've eliminated gluten from my food, but I've had a couple set backs with lotion and conditioner. I have a major acne breakout, I'm bloated, constant dizzy feeling, migraine, constipated, my hair is falling out by the hand fulls, super itchy, my joints hurt, I'm ALWAYS hungry and I'm extremely tired. Is this normal?
