  1. I am either gluten intolerant or have Celiac's. basically the doctor could not give me a definitive answer. regardless, gluten makes me lethargic at times...that being said I am almost 5 months pregnant and have found myself eating gluten a lot more than I normally would. I feel that it isnt effecting me as it did before...so stupidly, I grab gluten stuff when I am out and about. I am now terrified that my baby is going to have birth defects. I think I was under the impression that the placenta would protect him/her, but now am worried that I am not absorbing all the prenatal vitamins since I am eating gluten. I am freaking out and could really use a non-judgmental response. I have two other children who are healthy and thriving so I am just confused too. Thanks very much.

  3. Initially I lost 40 lbs...now I am 220 lbs and need to lose 60 more lbs. I feel that I dont eat much, I have cut out potatoes and corn considerably. I have been active but still my stomach is like a pigs. It drives me crazy and makes me so depressed. I eat a lot of fish, some nuts and fruits and veggies... I know I need to eat more veggies and exercise more. I have never had a problem like this and feel hopeless. Thanks for listening!

  5. I start my new job Wednesday and my boss will be taking me out to lunch. I dont really trust anything at a restaurant unless it is a salad so I am sure that is what I will order. Seeing how I cant have dairy or gluten I dont want her to think that I am just some pain in the *** person who is super picky. Do you tell people right away about your Celiacs even if you dont know them very well?? Thanks!
  6. mine was very low and I now take liquid Vitamin D...no wonder I was feeling so depressed and overall sluggish...
  7. since being off dairy and gluten I have lost 40 lbs. I still want to (need to) lose about 50 lbs. right now my weight has bee at a standstill...I hope the weight loss will kick in again.

  10. Lately, I have been binging on cheese even though I cant have dairy and pretzel rolls and other tasty gluten filled breads. I feel like I am out of control. I know this is harming my body but I cant stop. I was only diagnosed a few months ago and in the beginning I was really careful but now I think I am just so angry that I dont care anymore. What is wrong with me???
  11. Keep the appointment. I am in the Chicago West Suburbs and was thinking of going to U of C but my insurance is nil. I have emailed them and they are super helpful. Definitely take advantage of the center and keep us posted. Also, you need to be an advocate for yourself...try not to listen to naysayers who cloud what you know you need to do for your own health.   13. I am having extreme cases of itchiness right now...unbearable. It started on my ankles and I thought they were bug bites but they have moved to my stomach and forearms. I was recently diagnosed with Celiac and it has been a transition to say the least so the other day I binged on pizza and other gluten crap which was stupid, I know. What correlation does iodine have with DH? Isnt it difficult to avoid salt since it is in everything? Excuse my ignorance!! I am just so happy to have this forum to ask my questions to! This place is a Godsend for me.
