It's Indian Night/Deep Fryer Friday
Pakoras with chutneys (mango and tamarind)
Aloo Gobi (Cauliflower and Potato curry)
Masoor Dal (Curried Lentils)
Butter Chicken
Jasmine Rice
Caramel Custard for dessert (It's in the oven now and making my house smell all nice and custardy).
-
French toast (made with Simona's Challa I baked yesterday) and bacon. It's only 3:50 here and I'm going to go start cooking because I can't wait any longer!
-
Tonight is exciting!
Salmon we caught ourselves a couple months ago and potatoes and acorn squash I harvested out of my garden this afternoon!
-
I am so freaking excited to start cooking dinner tonight!
Butter chicken
Jasmine Rice
Aloo Gobi (Cauliflower and potato curry) with the cauliflower and potatoes from my own garden!
Pakoras with tamarind and mango chutneys
All homemade! I love cooking Indian food but only find the time once a month or so. I've never made pakoras before but I bought a deep fryer so I can have all my favourite deep fried foods at home where I'm safe.

For dinner:
Corn spaghetti with marinara sauce, corn on the cob and hamburger patties leftover from the other night.
For dessert:
Homemade hot chocolate, homemade oatmeal raisin cookies and cashew clusters from Costco.
-
Turkey lettuce wraps.
-
A bowl of butter with a few potatoes in it.
That sounds really good.
My husband teases me about hoarding butter. It's cheapest at Costco so whenever we are there I'll grab a few pounds whether I need them or not. Right now I probably have 9 or 10 pounds of butter scattered in our 3 freezers and 2 fridges.
I like butter

Probably pancakes tonight. Maybe corn spaghetti and sauce with some ground beef or turkey. Not feeling very inspired as the older girls are with family in Vietnam for the summer and my husband is out of town for work and the other kids and I aren't huge eaters.
-
Tonight is our Vietnamese girls' last night at home before they head back to Vietnam for a 2 month holiday with family. We are going to make sushi, tempura and chicken kaarage. (I bought a deep fryer yesterday!).
Can't wait!!

Since there are some bacon fans here, has anyone tried brushing bacon with something sweet such as maple syrup and roasting in the oven? Lovely - sort of like bacon candy. Also good sprinkled with black pepper and pomegranate molasses.
So, cook it first or brush it when raw and then roast it?
Dinner wound up being bacon and pancakes made with Pamela's mix. Man do I love that stuff for pancakes.
-
Bacon.
I honestly haven't though further than that for tonight and it's 5:00 now.
-
Last night I made cheeseburgers on my little George Foreman grill, corn on the cob and a baked potato. Tonight, I have no flippin idea! I'm sooooooo tired of cooking!
Anyone have any good crock pot recipes? That would be so much easier for the summer.
All gluten free!
-
Split pea soup with mennonite sausage, cheese and glutino "ritz" on the side.
-
Tonight will be BBQ chicken and ribs, baked potatoes, rice, corn and then if the rain stops we will go roast marshmallows on the fire pit I got hubby for Father's Day.
-
Leftover breakfast casserole for me and the big kids. A fresh batch of rice flour biscuits for everyone. Probably fruit and cheese to go with the biscuits for the little kids (they don't like eggs).
-
Tonight will most likely be breakfast casserole and either gluten-free biscuits or cinnamon buns. A bowl of fruit on the side.
-
Chili, Corn Chips, Cheesecake and Chocolate Chip Cookies while watching the Canucks win the Cup!
Tonight is brought to you by the letter C!
-
Cinnamon buns. Amazing, wonderful, perfect cinnamon buns. I'm trying really hard not to eat them all so there are some for the kids to have for breakfast.
-
-
Pasta (reg for everyone else, gluten-free for me) and sauce with ground turkey.
Salad
This week I will be feeding the family a lot of gluten meals because my 2 year old is going in for testing next Wednesday and I want her good and loaded up on antibodies if she is in fact celiac... please send lots of prayers and good vibes our way that she is not!
-
Baked chicken thighs, rice, cauliflower... maybe some asparagus. Nothing exciting here.
-
Turkey soup from the bones of last week's turkey and gluten-free cornbread. Maybe some salad.
-
Tacos tonight. Easy peasy.
-
Tonight is leftover from the roast turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and corn we had last night.
And I have a gluten free crazy cake ready to go in the oven so hopefully that is good.
