  1. That's really weird to me...he's concerned about your child not being able to eat a few things that could possibly be causing serious damage...but he's okay with putting a bunch of chemicals in him?
  2. Mmmm...Pizza Hut The little powdered donuts that come in a 6-pack (those must be Entenmann's) KitKat Twix Twinkees Lot of stuff, all bad for me anyways. Ummm....are Sour Patch Kids not gluten-free? I've eaten them. And...bismarck donuts...in case anyone doesn't know, those are the chocolate ones with the cream filling. We need a...
  3. Egg nog is good. If you drink it straight (like the kind you get from the store, not a milkshake) then it can be pretty thick. Mix something like 7UP with it if you think it's too thick.
  4. Pink cheese, I think you just discovered a new food, rice guy!
  5. I love it when "mainstream" companies say gluten free on the package. It makes me so happy!!
  6. I don't claim to be an expert on these. But they are both autoimmune disorders and once you have one autoimmune disorder you are more likely to have another. I have celiac disease and Mixed Connective Tissue Disease.
  7. I just got a notice in the mail to set up for a year follow up endoscopy. But I just got done paying $600 for last year's. If it cost me less or no money then I probably would do it just out of curiousity.
  8. Me too, Jen. I used to just eat Triscuits with slices of cheddar cheese. Or Easy Cheese. Mmmm....
  9. I was cat sitting for my parents when this was supposed to be on and they have this channel, but I don't. So I rushed over there in time to see it, found the channel amongst the hundreds of channels and the show was actually on! I was so excited, I sat through the first two stories and they obviously weren't celiac, then the third one came on and I'm like...
  10. I think they just say that to cover their butts, but I still eat it.
  11. Maybe this is already getting better. I was diagnosed on my first trip to the doctor.
  12. So, why do you think the coffee's not safe? Could you have been glutened from another source?
  13. I think people have posted that Progresso's is the gluten-free one. I haven't been able to find it in my store though.
  14. I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be a downer. But I just wanted to point out that Oprah's show probably gets tons of e-mails from people with any type of disorder, disease or cause and I don't think that a show entirely about celiac disease would hold the average person's interest for very long. I do think that it would fit well into a show covering a wider range...
  15. I know! Maybe because of the term glucose. When people read ingredients and see whey, they say "Oh, you can't have this" even though whey is really milk, but it sounds similar to wheat.
  16. I get cramps in my feet and legs, pretty badly sometimes. I actually am planning to get into the doctor soon to have my vitamin levels tested. He could be deficient in a lot of things as the intestines weren't absorbing while they were damaged and may not heal for a while still.
  17. Restaurants aren't a public service required to provide for everyone. They are a business, and many don't have that many different types of food. If I owned a restaurant and the government told me I had to provide for every possible food allergy or intolerance, that would be a financial nightmare and impossible, I would close up shop and now no one could...
  18. The one time I used my GIG card the waiter didn't even look at it. He just held it while I talked and then gave it back to me. but I did have a good experience at that restaurant. I've only been out 3 times since I've been gluten free, the past 11 months. I really miss being able to just go out and eat whatever I want. Anyways, I just wanted to point out...
  19. I have a little problem with the board that is annoying me. I use the "view new posts" option all the time, but if I've done a search online, say to figure out if something is gluten-free and I click on a link to the board, when I go back later to actually read all the new posts, it's only from the time that I had looked at that link. Not the actual last...
  20. I'm trying to start a support group in the Tacoma/Puyallup area. I haven't really been able to find anything down here. Does anyone know of a support group in the Tacoma area? GIG lists one, but then the address is Seattle and I e-mailed them and didn't get a response. If you are interested let me know and I would also appreciate ideas from anyone who goes...
  21. I eat the Taco Supremo salad a lot and haven't had problems. That comes with chili, but I think that their salsa is not gluten-free and it also comes with that but it's in it's own container so you don't have to use it.
  22. I'm not trying to alarm you or make you think that you may have another disease in addition to celiac. But I just wanted to let you know my experience. I have celiac disease and mixed connective tissue disease, which is another autoimmune disorder. The mctd didn't start up until after I was diagnosed with celiac disease. People with one autoimmune disorder...
  23. I just posted about this on another post. I was talking about when I see this commercial I yell back on the tv (well, maybe not yell exactly) "Bread is poison!". Yeah, that commercial kind of annoyed me, but I realize that most people can still eat bread, although maybe they shouldn't.
  24. Jack in the Box has come up with a new add saying "Bread is back!" I believe referring to the Atkins diet losing popularity and a new sandwich they have and I always yell at the TV "Bread is Poison!" and I try to get my husband to agree with me. I don't really get that bothered by most stuff on TV, I more get depressed when I hear people at work talking about...
  25. When I hear people say "I'd die if I couldn't eat wheat" it kind of makes me feel freakish, but on the other hand it makes me feel good too because I can't eat wheat and I'm able not to and I'm doing pretty good. (Except for the occasional depressed times.) So it makes me proud of myself, that I am able to handle it alright. My boss told me that he was impressed...
