  1. I used the recipe that's on the package of King Arther gluten-free flour. I found it in the regular flour aisle of my grocery store. Be sure you get gluten-free if you want to try it.
  2. Talk to your PCP and ask for a full Celiac blood test. A lot of your symptoms *could* be Celiac, or gluten intolerance? It's not something most Dr.s think to test for. Continue to eat gluten until your tests have been run. Your PCP will tell you if you need to see a GI for the tests. Good luck to you! I hope you get some answers.
  3. I get dizzy and off balance from gluten. I went 100% gluten-free last July. I accidently got "glutened" and the symptoms came back stronger than ever. Some Celiacs don't get GI symptoms, and some of us get neurological AND GI issues. The rash you are now experiencing sounds like it could be DH? If you can get in and have a biopsy, which is taken from...
  4. We have a couple of threads here.."What's for breakfast", and "what's for supper" that can give you a lot of clues. You'll see that many of us eat leftovers for breakfast, but you could have an omelette with left over veggies, cream of rice cereal, rice with a little cinnemon and sugar? When you say you have trouble digesting raw foods it makes me wonder...
  5. I'm so glad you got into a good Dr. The pill cam sounds interesting. Do you have to stay near a monitor when they do it? I was wondering how they captured the images. I hope you'll keep us updated on what they find..and what they'll do about it? I'll be seeing Dr. Murry at Mayo once they review my records and set up an appointment. The last GI I...
  6. Thanks for sharing your story! I'm glad that you and your daughter adjusted to the diet so well. It's heart warming to know the school is so helpful too.
  7. Brilliant! VERY well done.
  8. I'm so happy that you found a Dr. that has some answers! I've had my share of Dr.s that can't figure things out, so they assume it's "all in our heads". There's a couple of them I'd like to slap up side the head with proper DX papers. I hope the injections help you. I had them years ago after falling and damaging my tailbone. They made a world of...
  9. After going gluten-free I had nausea, or migraines after eating some foods. The nausea progressed to vomiting after ingesting soy. I removed all soy from my diet (not easy..it's in supplements too), and I found that dairy was giving me headaches..that progressed to migraines. Took that out. Then reacted badly to canned chicken broth..and found I was reacting...
  10. I got that book from the library after someone recommended it. The modified wheat is scary! I wish my hubby would read it, because it's obvious to me that he has a problem with wheat. They have been tinkering with soybeans and corn too. I wonder how long it will be until we see other Celiac-like diseases because of the genetic engineering on those...
  11. For me it's brown rice. I used to have it at least once a week. Now just the thought of eating it gags me.
  12. I'm wondring if the gluten/gliadin test was negative because you weren't eating gluten? It sounds like you had a dramatic improvement gluten-free? I haven't experienced any withdrawl symptoms from gluten-free foods, but I've learned that if you're craving something, it's usually bcause your body has an intolerance to it. The brain is a mysterious thing...
  13. How frustrating! I hope you can figure out what's triggering her symptoms. It seems like the Dr.s are NO help!
  14. I'm taking Source Naturals daily Essential Enzymes. Each capsule contains 500mg of an all-vegetarian, broad spectrum blend of enzymes. Take one capsule with water at the beginning of a meal. If meal is very large or unusually high in fat take 2 capsules. Contains no yeast, dairy, egg, gluten, corn, soy, or wheat. No sugar, starch, salt, preservatives, artificial...
  15. Have you tried taking digestive enzymes when you eat? Maybe your food isn't getting broken down like it should, and is creating gas? Probiotics help balance and heal the gut too.
  16. Your BF seems to have a lot of the Celiac symptoms? If he goes gluten-free it will be a lot easier for both of you. I SO wish my family was on board with going gluten-free. Isn't it funny how he sort of wanted you to "make" him go gluten-free? It works best when the gluten-free eater is doing the diet because they know they should..or have to...
  17. You have to add good fats..like Olive oil, nuts, avacados, and coconut oil. If you're eating mainly fruit, veggies, and meats it's hard to get enough calories. If you tolerate dairy, cheese is good for adding calories too.
  18. I also had gallbladder pain while pregnant. I had a very severe episode that took me to the hospital. They were going to remove it even though I was PG, when one of the Dr.s wanted to try to reposition the baby to see if it would relieve the pressure. It did, and I went for many years without problems. Your history sounds a lot like mine. If you are taking...
  19. It's so hard cooking gluten foods and not tasting them for seasoning, etc. At first I made gluten-free pasta and regular for my son and hubby. Then it was cooking one day and I caught myself grabbing a spaghetti noodle to taste and see if it was done. It's something I've done for years and never paid much attention. That incident made me stop cooking gluten...
  20. IMO you should wait for the results of the tests before going gluten-free if you think they'll want to do an endoscope. They want you to be consuming gluten to get a good biopsy. If you think you won't be getting a scope..go ahead and go gluten-free. Be aware that 20-30% of us test negative in the blood work, but have positive biopsies when scoped. If you...
  21. It's hard to answer your question because there are so many variables. Your own reaction changes each time. It depends on how much gluten you ingested, how much damage/inflamation you have in your system, hormones, and a variety of other things. You could have a reaction that lasts hours, days, or weeks. All would be considered "normal" reactions. Generally...
  22. I wouldn't touch anything marked low gluten with a ten foot pole!
  23. I'm glad you got the answers you needed to go forward into your healthy new life. Thank goodness your damage wasn't too much..just enough to get a firm DX. I'm almost positive my hubby has Celiac. He has lots of the symptoms, along with hasimoto's, and a family history of many immune disease. He had a brother with type 1 diabetes. He refuses to be...
  24. If your daughter reacts with symptoms that are more neurological than GI..it would take longer to see a difference. It's been my experience that Neurological issues generally take longer to heal. It's good you know that gluten gives her problems. It's so hard to figure out some of the food intolerances.
