ARCHIVED Running Out Of Foods To Eat
Bubba's Mom replied to allergyprone's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
He did order blood tests. I know one was the genetic test. His office called the day after I saw him and said he ordered more blood tests. They faxed the order to the lab, so I don't know what they were? Haven't gotten the results back yet. I think the holidays are slowing things down? I did get my vitamin/mineral levels run by a different Resident after... -
ARCHIVED Running Out Of Foods To Eat
Bubba's Mom replied to allergyprone's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I'm in Ohio. I just found a new GI, who redid the scope since I seem to be getting worse since my first scope and Dx six months ago. I haven't gotten the results of the tests he has run yet. I'm hoping he has some answers for me. He gave the names of a couple of PCPs that he thinks are well imformed and able to help me figure some of this stuff out. I... -
ARCHIVED Running Out Of Foods To Eat
Bubba's Mom replied to allergyprone's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
When my hubby asked if my problem might be psycological I asked him how I was able to "fake" the bright red stomach that was observed when scoped on Dec. 20? He has seen me get violently ill after ingesting small amounts of soy oil, etc. without knowing I had. AFTER vommiting I looked at the labeling and found the ingredient there. It's really hurtful... -
Hello..and welcome! I'm so sorry to hear you had to stay home and miss out on the festivities. Your hubby saying you were trying to use "toilet issues" as a free pass to stay home must have really stung? I've walked in your shoes..and completely understand how humiliating it would be to have an "accident" in public. At my worst there were times when...

I've found this discussion very interesting! I recently went to my allergist and requested food allergy testing because I got a shortness of breath when walking through the bakery section of the grocery store. He did the testing, and I didn't react to any foods. He explained that there are allergies to foods that they just don't have good tests for....

ARCHIVED Running Out Of Foods To Eat
Bubba's Mom replied to allergyprone's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I'm still at the stage where everything I ingest makes me sick. I'm 6 months gluten-free. I then started reacting very strongly to soy..in all forms, which has kept my system upset. IH I thank you for posting your experiences. It's helpful to know that reactions to so many foods can be caused by an injured intestine and leaky gut, which takes time... -
Hello and welcome to our new posters! Attitude makes a big difference in how you adapt to your new lifestyle. Always try to look for a positive. Be aware that some of us feel relief/happiness when first DXed..but later have some days where we feel very challenged. It's perfectly normal, and we are here to lend support. Happy 2012..may it be the...

ARCHIVED Doubts About Not Testing
Bubba's Mom replied to alex11602's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I understand how frustrating it is to figure all of this stuff out..and the double whammy is having family members telling you to do things you aren't comfortable with. If there was a reliable, absolute test that would give you all of the answers it would be great, but my allergist said that test doesn't exist yet. It's really a lot of trial and error. The... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Shampoo
Bubba's Mom replied to BobbyKat LittleCub's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If you want gluten-free and widely available at a low cost..try Sauve brand. I use the coconut shampoo and have had no problems. If you want a different scent be sure to read the label. Sauve is very good about labeling what's in their products. Welcome to the forum! -
ARCHIVED Vestibular Ataxia, Gluten Intolerance?
Bubba's Mom replied to hk1's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I've experienced many of your symptoms from gluten. Once I was completely gluten-free I found that soy was also causing migraines/ataxia. If you're still eating gluten you can ask your Dr to run a full Celiac blood panel. You have to be eating it regularly for the test to be accurate. Be aware though, that some people test negative but still have gluten... -
ARCHIVED Corn Problems?
Bubba's Mom replied to bbdailey's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've been reading the book "Against the Grain". It tells the effect of various grains, including corn. If you think you're having a reaction to corn, reading that book will be a real eye-opener. Maybe see if your library has a copy? The Chex cereals are made on equipment that also processes wheat. It's possible to get a batch of sereal with trace CC... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Health Market? I Don't Think So......
Bubba's Mom replied to silk's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It's wonderful that you noticed the problem. Your attentiveness may have saved you and a lot of other people from getting sick? I congratulate you on your approach to the problem and the way you worded your concern. I'm very happy to know that they took the issue seriously enough to fix the problem. One person truly can make a difference. -
ARCHIVED Eggland's Best Eggs
Bubba's Mom replied to Bubba's Mom's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thanks SO much for those links about soy and eggs! It looks like I'm not the only one to react to the soy that's fed to the chickens? Makes me wonder if some people that have egg intollerances might actually be reacting to the soy rather than the egg? -
ARCHIVED Eggland's Best Eggs
Bubba's Mom replied to Bubba's Mom's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Well..I've been able to eat the cheaper eggs I've gotten at Krogers all along with no problem, so I didn't think it was the egg that made me so sick, but rather whatever they did to it to make it a "super egg"? If they can make the claims that their eggs are 10 times higher in vitamin E, double the omegas, and 35% more lutein, etc., it stands to reason... -
I've found that I also have an intollerance to soy since going gluten-free. In fact, my symptoms from even very small traces of it are more severe than gluten. I haven't been able to eat much due to nausea and a lot of healing I need to do, so when I do eat anything I try to go for high nutrition. When I went to buy eggs a couple of days ago I saw EggLand...

ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed
Bubba's Mom replied to ARC86's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Recovery time is different for everyone. It depends on how much damage you have, age, diet in general, and so on. You may notice less bloating and reflux fairly soon, but other things take longer. My best advice is to eat whole foods like fruits and vegetables, unprocessed meats, dairy if you tollerate it. If the tips of your villi are damaged, you may... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Elimination Plus Discovering Other Intolerances
Bubba's Mom replied to giggleburger's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It's possible that you have Celiac..or at least gluten intollerance? You could have secondary intollerances too? If your small intestine has damage, particles from the foods you eat can leak out through the wall of the intestine and get into your bloodstream. That can cause inflammation and all sorts of reactions. That could be where the coughing comes... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Present In Dairy?
Bubba's Mom replied to giggleburger's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have found sour cream with gluten and a long list of other additives. I have switched to Daisy brand, which is very pure. Now that I'm a devoted label reader I always choose the brands that have the fewest ingredients. -
I understand how you feel. I'm right there with you! It takes a lot of detective work and label reading at first..and when we are first DXed, most of us aren't feeling very good. We're having to spend a lot of time and energy we don't have, learning how to cope, and cleaning, and cooking from scratch. Our vitamin/mineral levels may be out of whack too...

ARCHIVED The "I'm Not So Happy Today"- Topic
Bubba's Mom replied to Ellie84's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Sounds like neighbors from H***! As I was reading I thought having surveilance cameras/voice recorder might be a good thing? I have no idea what that would cost though? -
ARCHIVED Running Out Of Foods To Eat
Bubba's Mom replied to allergyprone's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
My goodness..that's a pretty long list! If you've been gluten-free this long and are sure you're not getting cc, you might have something else going on? You *could* have a small intestine bacterial overgrowth(SIBO)..or maybe Candida? It seems like something is causing leaky gut syndrome? I was told it's hard to diagnose those problems, but they are common... -
ARCHIVED Stress Or Arguments Gives Me A Severe Celiac Flare Up!
Bubba's Mom replied to heidi g.'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've been dealing with this myself. My hubby travels a lot, so is usually only home on the weekends. He gets angry and resentful that he has to clean up after himself if he cooks something glutenous, and gets extra snarky if he sees I've marked some food items with my red marker, which means it's just for me. (like my separate peanut butter) It seems like... -
ARCHIVED My Boy Went On The Radio About Celiac
Bubba's Mom replied to domesticactivist's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
He did a wonderful job! You must be very proud of him?
