  1. With positive lifestyle changes, and certain natural supplements, I have been able to reduce the amount of prescription medications I take. I currently take two, Wellbutrin for adult ADD symptoms, and Avapro for hypertension. I was surprised to discover that  the side effects of some medications mimic those of gluten sensitivity. It is important to state gluten sensitivity, not full blown celiacs, as those folks know what happens after ingesting gluten. With gluten, I have found effects are somewhat delayed, and more obvious the longer you have been consuming gluten. I couldnt find any studies on Wellbutrin, although  the side effects are similar to gluten, but there are studies done on anti-hypertensives. If you have found that goinfg off these meds improved you 'gluten sensitivity" please respond.  Oh, and a very happy American Thanksgiving to my friends in the U.S! tsthttps://www.glutenfreesociety.org/high-blood-pressure-drug-side-effects-mimic-celiac-disease/

  2. I have tried lots of supplements to deal with the pain, bloating, and inflammation in my stomach. This was when I thought I had IBS. Now that I am gluten-free, my gut feels much better, but I am 60, with many years of gluten consumptuion, and have always been a 'slow healer'. I just started using Cat's Claw. Its available in many forms. Just a week in, and the abdominal distension is much less, stomach feels more comfortable. Didn't feel this good the other times I went gluten-free, which is one reason I gave up on it thinking it wasn't working. Give it a shot!

Does anyone else notice that while your intestines are healing, especially if you are recently gluten-free, that hard liquor exacerbates the intestinal inflammation? For me wine and gluten-free beer or okay, but cocktails make me bloat. With the holidays approaching, I would like to know what I can say yes and no to!

Thanks Ennis. I am trying to go alcohol free anyway. I have tried lots of supplements to speed up the healing of my intestines, just started using Cat's Claw. Seems to be working!

  4. Hello again group. I haven't posted for some time. I am one of those gluten sensitive(not celiac) peeps that after being gluten free for several weeks, decides they are not gluten sensitive after all!  Then, weeks later, all the symptoms show up again! I am on a gluten free FB group and its not uncommon. My doctor, my family, and a few of my friends dismiss 'this gluten thing'.  Also, I am on the road a lot and where I travel, gluten-free options are few and far between. Thank God for Subway! After another recent episode of 'glutening' on the road, where I got the most bloated, nauseous, sore and tired, and brain fogged out that I ever was,  I decided no more messing around. Its my body God dam it!   Its been three weeks, and I am feeling pretty good. Just like I knew I would (DUH). My concern is that my big bloated belly (I am a guy by the way) just does not want to shrink to a more 'normal' size. I do lose weight when I am gluten-free, but everwhere else except my midsection. I even took the drastic step, for me, of reducing my beer consumption, and switching to a gluten free brand that is finally available where I live.  I am hoping that will help. Other than that, it feels much better. I wish I could exercise, but with two arthritic knees, thats pretty tough. Anyway, thanks for all your comments, hope everyone had a nice summer, and God Bless!
