YEAH!! I'll be here....I'm never going to forget all of you and I'll never forget how everyone here got me through this!! I love you guys. I have alot of goals for where I wanna be in 5 years. For sure I wanna be taking everything I've learned throughout this experience and somehow helping others who are going through a similar situation. ... -
ARCHIVED Entrolab ?
Rachel--24 replied to confused's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yup...thats about it. In my time on this board I've seen many people go to Enterolab for answers (including myself). The vast majority of people tested come back positive. Initially I was OVERJOYED and very much sang the praises of Dr. Fine and Enterolab. This can be seen in my earlier posts. Since then my views have changed...in part because... -

Welcome to the board!! As previously stated....dairy could be a problem for you. Did your Dr. tell you that you should eliminate dairy until you have healed some?? If not I would suggest trying that and you may get some relief from your symptoms. When your villi are damaged you become lactose intolerant until the villi grow back. The enzymes for lactose... -
ARCHIVED Quinoa....yuck
Rachel--24 replied to singingserena's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Quinoa is GROSS! I thought maybe it was just gross because I hadnt washed the soapy chemical off....but NOPE....its just "naturally" gross....saponin or no saponin. -
ARCHIVED Why Did I Pay For A Gene Test?

Jerry...If I remember correctly it took me 3 weeks to get my Celiac results....I had Kaiser too. My condolences. -

Exactly.....its just that determining the cause for its VERY ANNOYING presence aint all that easy. Yeah...I've been on the candida boards for a few years now. There is only one mercury board that I've spent time on but when you're on these boards you can see that there truelly is a link. Those with mercury toxicity also have candida.... -
I dont live in your area so cant give any recommendations as far as doctors...but unless you're continuing to have symptoms it seems like you've already got the correct diagnosis. If you would like to be "officially" diagnosed you would need to resume eating gluten....for several months. If gluten makes you feel bad I dont think this would be the wisest...

ROFL... Alison...if any of my friends saw that!! This is my secret identity...noone around me knows of my fascination with scientificness. If I started trying to explain some of this stuff...I think I'd get alot of these looks. -
ARCHIVED Why Did I Pay For A Gene Test?
Rachel--24 replied to JerryK's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Alison, It definately comes down to the Westernized diet. Logic tells me theres more to it than the average diet being gluten-filled though. For one thing, leaky gut is the biggest factor in developing an immune response to gluten. Candida overgrowth is the biggest factor in developing a leaky gut. The good 'ol American diet is a "yeastie's" best... -
ARCHIVED Why Did I Pay For A Gene Test?
Rachel--24 replied to JerryK's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Personally, I dont believe the gene test has any significance in determining whether or not gluten is causing any problems/symptoms. Unless you are of Asian decent you are pretty much guaranteed to come back with gluten sensitive genes. I've yet to see *anyone* not have a pair of these genes. Therefore, I'd say unless you are wanting to know if you carry... -

Donna....I'm raising my hand cuz I can answer this one!! YES....in general mold should never be "cleaned" up without some type of protection.....like gloves and a mask. This could very well be the cause for your sore throat and other symptoms. If you have a problem with molds its even more important to take extra care when dealing with... -

I couldnt agree more. Dan, Enterolab cant diagnose Celiac. Its only going to tell you that you're intolerant to gluten (its pretty much a guarantee) ...you already know this much from your bloodwork. I wouldnt spend the money to find out what you already know. If you're looking to find out if you've got Celiac.....Enterolab cant answer that... -
ARCHIVED Breathing Test To Tell If Celiac?
Rachel--24 replied to janelyb's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
True...but keep in mind that Dr. Fine hasnt published anything yet. His test is not widely accepted...so basically its still poo-poo'ed by the vast majority. I tested positive in his testing....accross the board....and I had very high malabsorption to go along with it. In the end it wasnt gluten that caused that malabsorption. Gluten wasnt my biggest... -
ARCHIVED Breathing Test To Tell If Celiac?
Rachel--24 replied to janelyb's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
The test wouldnt be useful for diagnosing Celiac. It would only be useful for follow-up with regards to malabsorption. Since malabsorption can occur in anyone for any number of reasons....it cant determine whether or not Celiac Disease is the cause of malabsorption. The article doesnt say the test is used as a diagnostic tool for Celiac...just as a follow... -
ARCHIVED Breathing Test To Tell If Celiac?
Rachel--24 replied to janelyb's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I've heard of this type of testing for lactose intolerance and bacterial overgrowth. I cant see how it would be possible to diagnose Celiac with this method of testing?? You cannot determine if antibodies are being produced by the immune system with a breath test. It would seem impossible to diagnose Celiac in this manner. Is it possible that... -

Congrats on the kefir babies! I looked into buying some while I was actively doing the candida diet. It was a long time ago and my brain was so fuzzy.....the whole idea of finding someone to purchase them from seemed too difficult and I gave up. I had emailed one person and they never got back to me. Oh well...I would have reacted to them... -

I am so clueless as this was my first experience with this type of testing. I think I'll ask Scott how ART differs from the other testing....I'll let you know when I find out. It was really cool...I wish I could explain it....but I cant. I couldnt access the B. Hominis section of that site. I looked at some other sites. It says... -

How funny...I still have that card HN sent me. I never went back there to get my last test results. One day I'll pop in there and thank Dr. Rick for sending me to the other Dr. and let him know how I'm doing now. I also went shopping yesterday. Remember when I thought I lost my new jacket....and ended up buying another one?? Well...I wanted... -

Oh yeah...more of what Scott had sent me about our session yesterday. He listed a couple products that tested well for these issues. The injections are interesting. I've read about these injections in one of my candida books. They have been helpful for people who are highly reactive to molds/mycotoxins. I'm gonna have to see what more I can... -

Yeah.....this is something I've always suspected but especially now that I'm aware of the mold/yeast situation. The metals would be tied up with the fungus....I wouldnt be detoxing it. -

Its not hard to figure out who I am. I'm the one who always wear baseball hats, cant take any supplements and cant eat any foods. Yesterday I didnt have a hat on because it was Sat. and I wasnt coming from work...but usually I look like my avatar. So if you see a girl with a hat like that (and looks kind of brain-fogged)....its me. I... -

Donna, me too...I always wanna root for the underdog. With her...she just seemed to get involved in all the wrong things but she also had some kind of vulnerability about her.....like she was just always wanting to be loved. Andrea, You should always be concerned about mold when there has been any type leaks. You dont always have to see mold....its sometimes not apparant. It can be in the walls or hidden elsewhere. A girl on another thread was posting about all her symptoms going away when she left the country but she got sick again when she came home. She thought...
