  1. Raven, I wanted to take the time to congratulate you on your success with this diet. We both have come a long way since eliminating gluten. Marcia
  2. This article discusses the group of studies by researchers below and explains how autoimmune antibodies are eliminated just by eliminating gluten. Open Original Shared Link [1]
  3. I had myoclonus and petite mal seizures and both appear to have been eliminated by going gluten, diary, soy, egg, corn and chemical free. My stomach was killing me so I had to eliminate all of these at once, so I have no idea which one was the culprit. Or if some combination of these caused it. However, I know I will get myoclonus, insomnia and horrible...
  4. Dr. Kent Holtorf, MD, is Medical Director of the Holtorf Medical Group Center for Hormone Imbalance, Hypothyroidism, and Fatigue in Torrance, California.* He specializes in treating CFS and FM patients. This article says that doctors are 10 - 20 years behind on current research ... Marcia Open Original Shared Link
  5. Your digestive issues could be from the Vicodan. All pain meds tear up my stomach. And make me feel like I am disconnected. I hate it when doctors make me feel worse. I have pain in my right hip and foot from a herniated disk, but the excercises the PT has me doing actually make it feel better, not worse. Did your PT help you with these to make sure...
  6. Melissa, Definitely see your doctor, but keep in mind that gluten could be causing a lot of these symptoms too. I think you have a couple of things going on here ... You said you just had your first period 8 months post partum. That's a very long time to go without a period. I entered menopause (no periods) last June and the waves of symptoms...

    ARCHIVED Gluten Ataxia

Jenny Here are some websites I have found on gluten ataxia. Number 5 tells you what kind of MRI they recommend to diagnose this. On a personal note, I came down with CFIDS / FM back in 1990 and at that time my symptoms included ataxia, myoclonus, fatigue, pain, brain fog, etc. I'd had problems with ataxia, balance and periods of blacking out as a...
  8. Jayhawkmom, Wow. A 20 point drop after only 2 weeks is impressive. Are your numbers (69) extremely high or is that the norm ? Can you tell me what the reference range for your test was ? Has anyone had low IgG or IgA and still had their problems resolve with gluten-free diet ? Is it possible the numbers used for detecting celiac are too high to...
  9. I posted this on the Braintalk forum, but thought I would check with this group too. I'm trying to see if antibody levels provide valid scientific data .... I have seen many people that have gotten better after getting the gluten out of their diets despite "normal" results. We know EGD's can be innacurate, but I thought it would be interesting to look...

    ARCHIVED Orthorexia

Shai, Unfortunately, it is impossible NOT to feel out of place even if you are just trying to eat healthy in the US. Much less watch out for food intolerances. It takes awhile to feel "normal" about eating new foods, but I've been at it for about 18 months now and I don't even have to think about what I am eating ... It's become my new norm...
  11. Darlindeb, Thanks. I sure hope you are right. I am still in the process of defining how much gluten it takes to nail me. My symptoms are clear, but the sources are still fuzzy ... Marcia
  12. I get these in my right eye. And they are sooo annoying ... Marcia
  13. I'm apparently very sensitive to gluten. At this point, I have a 100 % gluten free house, never eat out and don't buy foods that could be contaminated. I'm feeling much better (no ataxia, ADHD, myoclonus, "D", "C", cramps, orthostatic hypotension, rash) , but still working on the fatigue and brain fog. Last Friday nite, my daughter borrowed my car...
  14. Thanks, I was looking for an easy yeast free bread recipe. I can't handle sodas, what do you think of using mineral water ? Is the carbonation to give the bread it's lift ? I have been experimenting lately with flour I make in my coffee bean grinder out of red lentils. It's high in protein and so far isn't overwhelming the flavor, not like...
  15. Karen, I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I was close to my mom too. I don't know anything about the colonoscopy results. I just wanted to say I know how you feel and hope everything turns out ok. Hugs ... Marcia
  16. "especially when you have had general anesthesia it is normal for you to feel drugged for a day or so. Endoscopies aren't long procedures so they didn't give you that much and it should wear off soon, just rest and relax and sleeping always helps me. after my jaw surgery (like a 7 hour surgery under gen-anesthesia) i felt so drugged for the next like ...
  17. Thanks. I'm anxious to hear what others think too. I'm confused by the "subtle flattening of the duodenal folds " part. I thought it was villi they were looking at, not folds... Not that I know the difference ... Research is out until I am more awake too ... Good luck with your GI visit in March .... Marcia
  18. Hi again. I had my EGD yesterday. It says that there is some subtle flattening of the duodenal folds in the 2nd and 3rd part of the duodenum, possibly partially treated celiac as the patient is on a self imposed gluten free diet. And erythema in the antrum compatible with non-erosive gastritis. (biopsy) I didn't get to talk to my doctor yesterday...
  19. Guhlia, I love your daughter's face paint ... Thanks for filling us in on Stax, I wish I had read this before responding the last post. It explains why some are being glutenned by Stax. I just called Gibbles since the info isn't online and will be getting a call back. They make a popcorn that is not gluten free and if the chips are packaged on...
  20. Felidae, I can just imagine one of them trying to sneak in a Twinkie and an alarm going off and then they release the gluten sniffing dogs. We have quite a few eating Stax ok, but some that are not ... I got this from the Lay's website "Our LAY
  21. Thanks Jay, I copied this in from the Blue Diamond website ... For health conscious consumers or people suffering from Celiac disease, try Nut Thins
  22. We should tell them that this is only going to last 1 week, afterall most people are accustomed to being sick for a week. But after the first week, tell them "We are sorry, but you will have to stay here one more week". Do this repeatedly until they crack ... Then we have to let them go ... We can't keep them the standard 11 years it takes...
  23. wow, I can see where your symptoms would overlap ... And then the drugs have side effects too, so until you get off them, you'll never get this all figured out ... You sure have been through a lot lately... I hope this is the answer for you ... Marcia
  24. Welcome to the board. Good to know another doctor doesn't insist on you eating gluten and making yourself sick for the biopsy. Good luck on your biopsies ...let us know how you do ... marcia
  25. I hear ya !! When they told me the CT was normal the other day, I just said "Great" and hung up ... Good enough for me ... I see you were diagnosed with h.pylori and something else back in Dec. I hope you are feeling better soon... Is this a quick treatment regime ? Marcia
