    Knitty Kitty -
    Wow thanks!
I know I'm not the original poster on this thread but this was super helpful to me! I have yet to read through everything but off the bat everything you listed here I can relate to.
When I got a virus last year I started drinking a ton of tea with licorice root in it to coat my throat. After that virus subsided, I was left with asthma and the nightshade intolerance. It's been a year since then but I still suffer from the nightshade issues & very minor asthma (does not require daily treatments).
Linking these two things with the thiamine deficiency might be a game changer for me.
    Thanks for sharing.

@Posterboy recommends Benfotimaine, and according to him "the fat soluble form (Benfotimaine) has like 6 or 7x the absorptive ability of the kind found in commonly available B-complex." I've been taking this myself.

    To All,
Here is the Research...Entitled "Pharmacokinetic study of benfotiamine and the bioavailability assessment compared to thiamine hydrochloride"
    quoting from the article...
    Abstract
"Benfotiamine is a lipid‐soluble thiamine precursor which can transform to thiamine in vivo and subsequently be metabolized to thiamine monophosphate (TMP) and thiamine diphosphate (TDP). This study investigated the pharmacokinetic profiles of thiamine and its phosphorylated metabolites after single‐ and multiple‐dose administration of benfotiamine in healthy Chinese volunteers, and assessed the bioavailability of orally benfotiamine administration compared to thiamine hydrochloride. In addition, concentration of hippuric acid in urine which is produced in the transformation process of benfotiamine was determined. The results showed that thiamine and its phosphorylated metabolites exhibited different pharmacokinetic characteristics in plasma, blood and erythrocyte, and one‐compartment model provided the best fit for pharmacokinetic profiles of thiamine. The transformation process of benfotiamine to thiamine produced large amount of hippuric acid. No accumulation of hippuric acid was observed after multiple‐dose of benfotiamine. Compared to thiamine hydrochloride, the bioavailability of thiamine in plasma and TDP in erythrocyte after oral administration of benfotiamine were 1147.3 ± 490.3% and 195.8 ± 33.8%, respectively. The absorption rate and extent of benfotiamine systemic availability of thiamine were significantly increased indicating higher bioavailability of thiamine from oral dose of benfotiamine compared to oral dose of thiamine hydrochloride."
Without the Fat Soluble component are body's can't absorb it well (and why you should take it with food) as a Thiamine Salt (Thiamin HCL)... you overcome this by taking Megaodoses...
The Hormones Matter Site summarizes it well...

I hope this is helpful but it is not medical advise.
Everybody stay safe and stay well!

It's not easy. I try to explain in ways they can relate to, like you know I can't just go down the flour aisle at the grocery store, because I would breathe in flour and that goes down the same way as eating it.  I could not help with remodeling the upstairs bathroom because of the gluten from the wall board and plastering was in the air...  I explain that you have to be more diligent like a peanut allergy, and most get it with these examples.
But at a recent family thing, a sister in law was sticking her fingers that she had just used to eat a sandwich with, into a bag of candy (which I don't eat anyway but regardless...), and asked if I wanted one because they were marked gluten free, and I said, thank you but I'm sorry, no, they're cross contaminated unfortunately because they've been touched after you ate other gluten food.  And she gave a snort and said "you might as well just live in a bubble .... ha ha ... like bubble boy".
Well, I had defended her insensitive comments to others for over 30 years.  No more.  I will say hello and light niceties, but I just cannot talk to her like I care anymore, that was just over the line.  I guess it hit the core of how we feel and how our life becomes, but I just do not have to be in the vortex of someone who will go to that level.  Some people have to have karma teach them to see things from someone else's shoes, but most don't, they get it and are very understanding when they learn the facts of the disease.  And to those people, it is worth a little time to educate a little if they want.

That's why I try to stick to just whole food. All the processed gluten free things are worse for you than whole wheat.

I don't eat anything unless it's whole food or labeled gluten free, certified gluten free is best.  I do get my nuts from Nuts.com, they have a gluten free section, labeled gluten free but not certified.  They ship super fast and everything is fresher than I've ever tasted nuts before, except those I picked and shelled myself.  You can sign up for their newsletter and they have discounts from time to time and free shipping over a certain amount.  Be careful of any freebies they offer from time to time, they are sometimes gluten free, but sometimes not.

You're breaking my heart with how much I felt just like you are saying ... the whole death sentence thing, just a matter of time ... futile ... that poison gluten is EVERYWHERE, no control!!! But it's been almost a year and a half for me since diagnosis, and I must say I don't feel most of that anymore.  I think it takes a lot of time for you to figure out work arounds for every challenge that comes up ... how am i going to enjoy that party? where can i eat out? You stress at first and then come up with an idea, and try it out. Sometimes it's a fail, but you always learn and go forward ("imua" in Hawaiian means go forward, it's an excellent philosophy for this).
It's the choices that you do have control over, and you develop wisdom and better results with experience.  My conclusion, from my research and talking with the doctor, is that the big nasty list of other diseases are higher for those not diagnosed or not following the strict gluten free diet.
I was lucky to find good naturopaths that have experience with Celiacs.  Fixing a few vitamin B deficiencies and some phosphathydyl serine (an amino acid) before bed help with the obsessive thinking.
    Take care.
