I have and my DS and I couldn't tell the difference. Yummy! I have to say that Yorkies are my favorite part of Christmas dinner!
I'm at work now, so I'll have to wait til tonight to post recipe, links and flour notes for you.
Yeah!! I can hardly wait for the recipe. Thanks

Has anyone made gluten-free yorkshire pudding?? I'd like to try for Christmas. What flour would work best?
-
Whenever I make the Glutino cake mixes I use buttermilk instead or regular milk...it makes it really moist! It may need to bake a little longer though.

Very interesting!! I have a terrible time giving blood. It takes them 30 minutes to find a vein and then it is sooooo slow. They also told me I could never donate blood...it would take too long. I was just diagnosed recently, I don't know if it will improve.

Ursa,
Thank you!!!! It looks amazing. My father is from Germany, so cake is a big deal in our family. My birthday is in a few weeks and I was just thinking about missing out on cake, well, thanks to you, I'm going to have black forest, one of my favorites.

I'm pretty sure of my daughter's trigger. She was 2 1/2 at the time. The family was together at my Mother -in-laws for a family birthday. My son and daughter were playing with their cousins and my niece bit my daughter. It broke the skin, you could see my nieces imprint of her upper and lower teeth on my daughter's arm. A few weeks later the vomitting started.
I'm not sure of my trigger. I found out about my celiac after my daughter's diagnosis. In doing my research, I've had mild symptoms my whole life, worse at times, better at other times. Negative blood work, but Marsh 4 biopsy (completely flat)
-
I had negative blood work. When they did the biopsy I was marsh 4 ( completely flat). My Entrolab results are in my signature.
-
Wow, that is scary - i just can't get my mind around how bloodwork could show nothing but i guess that is me just thinking that if blood is drawn, a definitive diagnosis can be made for anything in medicine.
I see in your signature your genetics - my DD's are the same, DQ2 and DQ3, as yours with almost the same subtype - she is 2,7. My question is what are you doing with your son, who is so far negative? I'm wondering whether to just do the gene testing for my 11 month old or just do the celiac blood panel. . . do'nt want pesky insurance problems if they are not necessary. . . just put her on the Gluten-free Casein-free diet since the older DD has a casein issue.
I'm 37 and have no problems but I'm convinced the DQ2 came from my side of the family with a 1st cousin with celiac and an aunt with lupus. my DD's testing said that she has a copy of the gluten sensitivty from both sides - so my husband has something to. Neither one of us has symptoms - he's 42 - and we are free of health problems. I don't know whether to get us tested or not. I'm more concerned about my DDs.
Sorry it has taken so long to respond, I have been away from the site for a few weeks. Just this past week I decided to order the Entrolab kit for my son. He is so tiny for a 6 year old and given his sisters and my Celiac diagnosis well, I want to see what they come up with. After that I may take those results to my doctor and possibly have him looked at by a GI doctor. I believe that your son would automatically have the DQ2 gene, since you have it , which make him a possible candidate for celiac. My ped doesn't think you should mess around with a child's diet unless you are sure of food issues or diseases. Is is such a tough decision to make. Your daughter's numbers from Entrolab are very high, so she needs a change in diet though. Good luck!

Hi,
Last year I saw Dr. Michelle Peitzak (sp??) speak at a Celiac conference. She said you should introduce gluten not before 6 months of age but no later than 9 months of age. Hope this helps.
-
I had testing done from Entrolab, my numbers are in my signature. I always had neg blood work. I had a biopsy done in May and I am Marsh 4 ( completely flat) and the doctor said it is one of the worst cases he has seen, yet neg bloodwork.

1. How often does your child get glutened? Maybe 2x per year if that.
2. How long do symptoms usually last? Major vomitting for 3-4 hours, then sleepy and faint, clammy skin, irritable, stomach and throat pain.
3. Can you always identify where the gluten came from? Usually
4. How do you help them through a glutening? Cuddles, cold cloth, rice or bananas
5. How long has your child been gluten-free? Since Nov 2005

Mine blood work was negative, but I was Marsh 4 ( completely flat ) in my biopsy.

Is it gluten free?

I too am overweight... about 80lbs. I have steadily gained for the last 6 years, no matter what I do it won't come off. My daughter was diagnosed 1 1/2 years ago and in doing my research I was sure I had it myself. I had the blood work, it was negative. I had Entrolab testing done and I was through the roof. My doctor decided to do a biopsy given I have been anemic over the years...sure enough completely flattened villi...but neg blood work.
I have been gluten-free for 6 weeks and I have lost 6 pounds with no other changes. I still have ankle and foot swelling, but not as bad.

I use buttermilk in place of milk in any cake recipe... it makes it nice and moist.

Hi to all
I just joined your site oh about 5 min ago.
Yes i am from Ontario Canada (Guelph) I was told i was celiac when i was seventeen. i took me a while to be willing to go without gluten ( it helped that i found out you can claim your food on incom tax). i have 3 children (14, 10 and 10 yes twins) part of the reason i kinda began eating gluten again. i'm not sure if any of them have this disease or not. I'm curently dating a vegan so if anyone out there has any suggestions please feel free to let me know good dinners for the vegan/celiac ( this food must not caontain anything that has a head)
Thanks for your help
Kareen

I hate to say it but what you experienced is pretty common. Good luck, it will all work it self out.

See my numbers below. I had neg blood work, positive biopsy.

I thought I would post here, even though I am 6 months gluten free. Jan. I thought I was gluten-free, but seems I was gluten light-wow if I only knew then what I know now! So truly not gluten free until Feb.
Feb. I was OK with all of it, I was relieved to know what was wrong with me all those years. Still ate out way too much and took too many chances-this lasted until about March when I really started feeling better and then got glutened. Learned my lesson-no more. I made the switch to paranoid gluten girl and will eat it only if I can see it being made and I can verify it is Gluten free. Through April felt the best I have ever felt. I had a little set back at the end of May, Thyroid issues, but we are getting those under control.
I went through the whole mourning process, though I really didn't think I would because I never really was a big fan of bread type foods-they always made my stomach hurt. Now I am over that and have discovered the joys of gluten free cooking. I have made lots of meal substitutes that to me are better than the gluten counter parts. I have found I prefer my cooking to the prepackaged stuff, but I have always been that way. And I am not a fan of Chicken, though I eat it almost every day
So the moral to my long windy post it-hang in there, it gets better. I now have so much energy that I drive my poor ADHD husband crazy! Life is what we make it. This is so doable.
My substitutes list:
For shampoo, conditioner, lip balm, and lotion I use Desert Essence. The entire line is Gluten free and Organic
Make up is Bare Minerals. I hate make up anyway, so this stuff is perfect
Namaste is the BOMB! My family devours the brownies and I am the only one gluten-free
I can make better fried Catfish than any southern joint.
Redbridge Beer is better than no beer
Malibu Rum is Gluten Free
Whole foods hamburger buns are good biscuit substitutes.
Glutino Mac and Cheese is my fave!
Coconut flour pancakes are the best thing after a soccer game
We are very lucky to have the resource. I cannot imagine what is must have been like in the years before the internet!
Kat.
So Bare Minerals is okay? I've been meaning to call them. Do you like the product? Is it worth the $$ ?

I'm glad to see some restaurants are at least trying to create gluten-free dishes
. I would still worry about cc though.

THANK YOU CYBERPROF!!! The yorkshire puddings were amazing. My family (non celiacs) loved them. Just like the real thing. I followed the recipe exactly and they turned out perfect first time.
I haven't tried the second recipe that was posted, but thanks for the reply.
