Dave, this is something I would like to know as I've never been able to find this out. All I can say is about three months ago I found I could eat oats (pure, certified gluten free) again seemingly without pain and probably rather overdid it. Then, a month later, the burning stomach and neuro symptoms (muscle twitching) started up. There could of course be a completely different cause but until I get my blood tests back at my bi-annual visit to the gastroenterologists I won't know.
Sorry to hear. As I stated earlier. I won't eat anything with oats or soy. I get worse rashes (DH) now when gluten and leaves a permanent mark. They were minor, but since going gluten-free they got worse. So I rarely take any chances being glutened.

Very true, for most oats. Some growers specifically avoid fields, silos, trucks, etc that have processed wheat and produce “pure oats” that are gluten free. I’m very sensitive but can eat those. Some with celiac still react to those because of the avenin.
I've never heard of avenin. Does it damage the villi?

The information I can find on the Hepatitis B vaccine indicates that the problem is seen with people who have celiac disease and are not on a gluten free diet.
Dah. Nothing was working right for me except vision and hearing until I was diagnosed and off gluten.

I thought I read somewhere here about celiacs needing an extra Hepatitis B vaccine. Because the celiac autoimmune response can suppress its effectiveness.
Any word if this is the case with the mRNA vaccines for COVID-19?

Hi
Ive posted once before. My son is 3 and recently diagnoses with celiac. We had our gastro appt last week and the dietician advised for the first 12 months after diagnosis to avoid oats also- even gluten free version. They said its because the protein composition is similar to gluten? They said we can reintroduce them after 12 months. I wanted to query this advice because my son has gluten free porridge every morning and really enjoys it and i like him having a healthy start to the day, as opposed to sugary rice type cereals. Can anyone advise further on this advice. Is this advice similar in other areas? Ive ready online that oats are ok as long as gluten free but my dietician has said otherwise.
Thanks in advance
I don't eat anything with oats or soy/soybeans. Farmers sometimes plant wheat, then harvest it, and plant oats or soybeans in the same spot. This 'could' contaminate oats or soybean. In addition, I think food producers handle wheat, oats and soybeans in the same facility and could cause cross contamination. I'll probably never eat oats or soybean again. I'm so sensitive to gluten I won't take the risk.

Has any got any info on the COVID vaccine from the government and it's affect to being glutened and the bodies autoimmune response?
I have a message to my GI doctor's office but only hear crickets.

Meal Replacement Shakes in powdered form, Non Dairy Vegan Protein Bars, Mountain House makes Breakfast gluten-free options of Freeze Dried Eggs, Sealed Nut Butters in jars, Dried Veggie chips, Canned Progresso soups with gluten-free options, Canned tuna/salmon/meats, Bags of dried seeds/nuts. NON dairy bars and shakes tend to have a longer shelf life depending on the fats used in them, storing them in a fridge or freezer extends it to years. Same with Nuts and seeds store them vacuum sealed in a freezer for long term, or keep a large stock and use them on rotation so you always have a few months supply of fresh (I do this) I also keep stocks of like Miracle Noddle MRE soup and noodle kits not a lot of calories but good comfort food. NOTE, seeds and nuts keep longer raw, I normally buy raw and roast them few lbs at a time as I need them, not like they have to be roasted. But this way you do not have to worry about them going rancid as fast.
Long term Emergency intended options from mountain house and Augason Farms, Click the Gluten Free check box but all the plain meats are, the plain eggs, and they have some gluten-free entrees

^has some GREAT options for EVERYTHING......I am going to get some of the veggies lol simplify soup making. Hindsight stick with Augason Farms over Mtn House, they claim they do testing for the gluten-free catagory. But Mtn House has some more options, bit of a trade.
Thanks!

I live in earthquake CA. After recently being diagnosed and seeing Harvey I was wondering what are good gluten free disaster kits or options. I'm looking for meals that will fill me up like a regular (or close to) meals and will last for at least two weeks.
I see some on Amazon. But wondering if there are more lower cost options out there from other places (like REI, etc.). I don't live in a house where I can stockpile and takes up a lot of space. So I'm looking for products where I can add water (freeze dried). Maybe put in a backpack.

I feel your pain. Gluten free and corn free is difficult. I eat Erewhon rice Crisps or Barbara's makes a rice crisp cereal as well. You can also try yogurt. Read the ingredients some have corn syrup or corn starch. Just an fyi for you high fructose corn syrup does not contain any corn.
I'll have to try Erewhon Organic Gluten Free Cereal. Thx.

Yum, what's wrong with eggs and bacon?
i just got some gluten-free granola yesterday that I tried this morning and it's not too bad but it's got gluten-free oats. Can you do oats?
Love bacon and eggs but don't think it would be a good idea to eat it everyday
Not sure about oats. I didn't handle KIND Raspberry Granola (w/oats) well. But that was when I was adding milk.

Before being diagnosed I was almost a 100% Raisin Brain cereal eater. So I switched to Bakery on Main, Gluten Free Granola. I was having nausea, lose stool, and would get dizzy about 30 min. after eating it. Doc said to switch to Soy milk. That didn't really help either. Now I just put water in it. But I think the corn in it is also causing me issue. Can anyone recommend a filling gluten-free and corn free cereal. I don't want to eat eggs and Canadian bacon everyday. It needs to fill me up for about 3 hrs.
