  1. Hi everyone, Is there a general understanding that gluten free wheat starch is safe or not? I've read that Caputo tests its gluten-free flour (Fioreglut) to below 4ppm. It contains gluten-free wheat starch. Has anyone tried this flour? I've heard that it's a real game changer when it comes to making pizza, bread, etc. Any info regarding this flour is...
  2. I would definitely seek further testing. From what I've read, celiac disease is often overlooked and miss-diagnosed (specifically, false negatives). Regardless of the outcome, you'll know you covered all your bases.
  3. Sorry to hear that you felt so sick. I'd have to think that it was indeed the fish food that ultimately affected you. I say this because my daughter and I (both Celiac) have eaten M&M Peanuts (btw, we live in Canada) many times without issue. Obviously, there could always be the chance that the M&Ms were CC'd BUT based on what I've observed and experienced...
  4. Thank you for the link. I couldn't find anything about artificial flavoring though. Could artificial flavoring be derived from wheat, barley, rye or any other natural product?
  5. Hi everyone. I've read that artificial flavors cannot contain gluten. Does anyone know if that's a fact? I'm asking because my mother in-law called a candy manufacturer today(I believe it was Hershey's here in Canada) and they couldn't guarantee that those types of Kisses she was calling about contained gluten because they contain "artificial flavors...
  6. Not sure if this applies to your daughter but my daughter reacts after she's gone to sleep -wakes up in intense pain+vomiting.. So, if I suspect she may have been exposed to gluten ( i.e.at school) I would keep her up as late as possible to have the reaction occur while she's awake. It seems to lessen the intensity. For some reason, it's more severe if it...
  7. Thanks for the reply! I thought it would be gluten free but figured it'd be best to double check here. Lemon Jello Cheesecake sounds tasty!
  8. I haven't found anything definitive on this so I'm hoping someone could help me with this. Not sure if it makes a difference when it comes to the ingredients, but I live in Canada (Toronto). TIA
  9. Thanks! And no, it doesn't have to necessarily be labelled gluten-free. I'll check the Kisses here. I think it's time we take a drive down to the US. Although we (in Canada) have good options when it comes to gluten-free packaged food, it seems the US has just that much more that it'll feel like we have a whole bunch of new food options....especially...
  10. I think I will do that next year (order candy from the US). My daughter hasn't had Smarties since she was diagnosed with Celiac and the ones here (Canada) contain wheat so buying candy from a US store is what we'll do next Halloween. In the meantime, I'm trying to find treats that although don't actually have "gluten free" on the package, ingredients do not...
  11. I wish there were comprehensive lists for candies sold in Canada. Every list I come across is US based. Also, apparently, not all similar candies contain the same ingredients. i.e.Smarties in Canada contain gluten, those in the US do not. No idea why
  12. Here are the ingredients for the Sundae (and Lingonberry sauce). They also look safe wrt being gluten free.
  13. Thank you. Here is what I found (from Ikea Canada). The frozen yogurt alone (without cone) seems to be fine, correct?
  14. Does anyone know if the soft serve frozen yogurt at Ikea (if it matters, I live in Toronto, Canada) is celiac safe to eat? I assume it would be, but not sure.
  15. Tried your recipe today and it's great! Thank you! Now I'd like to experiment a bit with the next one. I see you've suggested adding a sweetener such as maple. Is that maple syrup or some other form of maple sweetener?
  16. I don't think they're labelled gluten-free here in Canada but I trust they are. I'm sure my daughter (she has Celiac and hence we are all gluten-free in the family) will love them.
  17. I did email Nestle re their Haagen Dazs ice creams and I'm pretty happy with their response: "Thank you for inquiring about our gluten-free products. We always want to hear from our consumers and appreciate the opportunity to respond to your inquiry. To help our consumers make informed choices, major allergens including ingredients containing gluten are...
  18. Wow, had no idea Haagen Dazs had gluten free options anywhere. I hope the same is the case here in Canada.
  19. Mc Donald's soft serve ice cream is also safe, correct?
  20. There are quite a few to choose from that we like but the one we like best right now.. Loaf: Northern Bakehouse All other types of bread: Delicious Without Gluten<--- this is a recent discovery for us and wow, is it great. Both are Canadian Celiac Association certified
  21. Are all soy ingredients similar when it comes to allergies? In other words, if you are allergic to soy, would you react to all types of soy?..ex)soy lecithin, defatted soy flour, etc? I'm asking because my daughter doesn't react to those 2 types of soy(defatted soy flour is found in kinnikinnik's gluten-free pancake mix and soy lecithin in other types of...
  22. It's the ingredient list to the same one we'd like to order from. The only issue right now is 'Hydrolyzed Soy Protein'..but i understand that if it was created using wheat, it would have to state that. Not 100% sure though. I will definitely take a look at Find me Gluten Free. Thanks for that.
