  1. With so many newbies recently, I thought I would resurrect an old and now "infamous" thread started by broncobux. This thread shows how, eventually, you will be able to deal with this disease with a bit of humour.

    Happy reading!

    Hugs.

Hi, a newbie here. How great it is to hear all this humour. I actually surprized myself last week with my own sense of humour, when after readiing about what Ophra did to that author, I told my family I think I'll write a book and get it in her book club called, "I Got The West Nile Virus-Encephalitis-Celiac Disease Blues". Right then I realized I had a sense of humour afterall. Of cousre they didn't think it was that funny. Oh well.

    smiles,

  2. Hi, I'm new here. I wondered if anyone else had their celiac triggered by west nile virus or any other virus?

Up until two and a half months ago, I thought I was only dealing with the encephalitis, which I have a mild case of, but still debilatating at times. Some of the symptoms are very similar. A few months after the initial WNV/encephalitis symptoms (which I got by being bit by that tiny creature the mosqito) I started with a slew of symptoms so out of proportion, I thought I was dying, and no doctor would help, even with the blood tests of the WNvirus in their hands. One doctor said, the good news is you are immune to west nile virus, and then wanted to prescibe muscle relaxers and a neurologist wanted to give me prozac. No thanks to either, I wanted answers. It took me over a year to find out about Celiac disease. Since I went wheat and gluten free over 2 mos. ago, alot of my symptoms have improved, but not enough to feel anywhere near normal, but I guess that's still a dream, to be "normal" again. I hear it does get better. I only hope it does before my relationship falls apart. He's been so patient for the most part, but it's getting to him, we argue alot. I can't seem to get him interested into reading about this, or looking for support himself. He supportive in paying for doctors, and I not having to work outside the house, however, he cannot grasp the emotional support that I need. Sometimes I think he's embarrassed in front of his friends, until we meet someone who understands what we are going through, then he's very open.

Anyways, just curious about the above question. Great to have this support systom. I found there is a support group in my area too which meets bi-monthly. I look forward to attending.

    Thanks,

    Elsa

  3. did anyone ever tell you what causes it? does yours get worse sometimes after you eat? [it may be a coincidence] is your pain just in the shoulder?

a few years ago I did accupuncture For about 6 months for fibro pain, it helped for a few months then nothing..I hear that a lot

Well we knew I had a vit B definciency, however since I began taking them I had not noticed a difference (I started them at the same time I went gluten free approx 2mo. ago). I believe I had not noticed any change due to the malabsorbtion. We actually thought it had something to do with my line of work, I lift my right arm alot (it's in my right top shoulderblade area). It mostly came on at night or when I had not eaten properly. I had stopped working a month ago, still no relief, in fact it was getting worse and that's when she started the cupping treatments, with great success. I have also had it in my right groin area but thought it was caused by pushing a box with my leg last month (I never mentioned it to her), so when you mentioned pain in thoses areas, and someone else mentioned how the B deficency targets one side, it blew my mind, and reminded me to take my B's, in fact I doubled up tonight.

I do find that accupuncture really works for me, I've done it off and on for the past 6 years. However, I went to 3 different accupuncturists before finding one who "understood" what I am going through now.

My celiac was triggered by west nile virus/encephalitis 2 years ago and up until 2 1/2 months ago I thought that was the cause of all my symptoms. You can just imagine the trouble I've had finding someone who would listen.

    Peace & Goodnight,

    Elsa

  4. hi guys, I've been getting weird burning type pain in my right elbow, the right side of my back [bra strap area] and the right groin. I've had a CT scan and ultra sound in the last month..both ok..it feels like its on fire with pain..oh ya..I also have a weird bumpy rash on the right side at the rib area

thanks bunches..starting to scare me..could it be food realated?

Wow, I'd been experiencing the same symptoms, except it was my shoulder, not my elbow. I've been taking B 12 & B complex (both under tongue) for two months, and have not noticed any change (I must admit I forget to take at alot of times). I get accupunture treatments and she did some cupping on that area the last two weeks, and I've felt much less pain in those areas.

I've wondered, does anyone else do accupunture?
