Celia the Celiac's Achievements

  1. I was diagnosed with Celiac two years ago. I've ben gluten free for about a year. We all know it's very hard to stay gluten free and have probably been exposed in some way or another. My stomache bloats so bad at times I can bearly breathe. I'm from Texas. You know, the South. None of the gastro doctors around here know much about Celiac. When I was diagnosed, my doctor just said don't eat wheat barley rye or oats. I mean....that was it. No....this is what's going to happen if...no...the reason you have osteoporosis is because you have celiac...no supplement info...nothing

  2. I haven't been on here in forever! Everything's changed. I had to go in and find my password it's been so long lolol

    Well, this is the deal....

I don't really feel very comfortable laying everything right now...but I'm having major bloat issues...if you know what I mean. When I say major....I mean....I'm very embarassed to even go to work tomorrow because something happened...that I had no control over...I don't want to spell it out for you guys. I'm practically in tears. Why have I been cursed with this poop! And on top of that...my stomache's stapled and I have stomache dumping syndrome. I'm starting go get very very depressed over all this...

  3. Hey all. It's been a while since I've been on here. Just alot going on. My gastro doctor is going to scope both my stomache and colon tomorrow. Since my stomache's stapled and banded, I've had to drink liquids since yesterday. Boy it's been so hard!!! Being Celiac and only drinking home made chicken broth and green tea....I had a really bad headache yesterday but today I seem to be ok so far. Today I've got to drink all this liquid stuff to clean out my colon so I'm worried about just how weak I'm going to be. Yall keep this Texas Chick in your prayers as I've had continuous problems all resulting from my Celiac.

    Check in with yall later,

    Celia

  4. Okay,

So I decided to eat my daughter's homemade chocolate chip cookies. Alot of them...all at once. What's up with that...anyways....that was yesterday...

    today....

Everything that comes out of me is undigested food. Okay....I'm stupid...and I'm freaking out!!!!!!!!

  5. This might be TMI but I'm going to discuss this anyway. I've had a really bad Kidney Infection. Well the Dr. put me on Bactrim 1600 Mlg a day. Well it being a Sulphur drug my bowels are now impacted. I've tried everything to...unimpact them...any suggestions? Me being a Celiac, my main symptom is Constipation anyway now plus this....

  7. Okay,

I was in a rush on my lunch hour and guess what I did.

I bought a pint of Chricken fried Rice OMG

    I've never cheated. Now I'm scared !

I don't want to have a seizure or something like that.

So far I have a bad taste in my mouth that won't go away even if I scrape my tongue and I feel funny...kind of dizzy. I hate this....

  8. L-Glutamine---

I called and spoke with a nutritionist last week. I told him about this problem with gas and bloating..that I was Celiac...blahblahblah

Anyway he said he was treating another guy with Celiac that had the same problem. He said start taking L-Glutamine...

I said that I thought that was for people that lifted weights. He said oh know.....so much more. SOOOOOOO

I went and bought some. He said to be specific and only take the powder...that it's oderless and tastless and you just mix it with your water. Well after three days I have no more problem. I realize everybody's body is different but this has been a for sure cure for me. Hope yall can find the same relief.

    Celia

Hell... I don't know...let me go get it hold on...

It's Bluebonnet Free Form L-Glutamine Powder

I was diagnosed last year but have been gluten free for about 5 months now. My reactions to being "glutenned" are pretty bad now. I have to be very very careful. I got glutenned about two weeks ago and was in the bed...very dizzy and disoriented...

  10. I think you may be right, that it's related to hypoglycemia. The time I had the dizziness and confusion was after being glutened, but I also had shared a pint of Haagen Dazs with my hubby the night before. The combination of the two is what seemed to get me. I don't usually have a problem with hypoglycemia, but certainly do when glutened. I also have a problem with dehydration, constantly.

    Well,

I drank my 32 oz of propel water along with 16 more ounces of regular water and today I'm almost at 100 percent. The dehydration thing is getting under control. The gluten thing...I have to admit...I was HARD HIT. That's just going to have to run it's course I guess. My head still feels funny and my legs are weak. Boy...Gluten is bad...yuck....poison....ect lololol

    Thanks again yall...Celia

  11. Celia, I am in Southeast Texas as well, Beaumont in fact. Where are you?

The last time I got glutened (last week) I came home from work and crashed in bed for 3 hours because I felt so disoriented.

If you are in the Beaumont area, I'd love to have a buddy for shopping, etc.

    Natalie

I'm from Port Neches. Sure....I go to Basic Foods at least three times a week...

  12. I was just telling my husband today that it would have taken me years to figure out all I've learned from this website. I'm so thankful for this technology so we can meet!! I have never met another celiac face-to-face, so I think it's uncommon everywhere.

The time I mentioned above, I spent two days laying around, then another two days where I really didn't feel very good, but was at least functioning. So, it may take some time to feel better. When I get really dehydrated, water is not enough, which is why I carry Propel in my car so I always have it. If I'm at home, I'll just pour a little juice in my water.

I got a touch of dehydration yesterday. It was near 90 degrees, and I recognized the symptoms. I got into the air conditioning and started drinking Propel (anything with electrolytes would work, I like Propel because it's not as sugary as others). I was not glutened yesterday. Interesting now that I think of it ... I guess I get this way from glutening since that makes me dehydrated, and from the heat for the same reason.

I've often wondered if it's better to go to the hospital when dizzy and incoherent. Does anyone have any thoughts on that?

    Carla

Propel...hum...I've always just drank straight bottled spring water. I'm definately going to start on that. Anything to help me feel better...thanks

  13. Hi,

I know the reasons why we are currently not approved to eat oats, but is there anyone here who eats oats? If so, where do you get them from so that they are not "contaminated"? I've heard some things about Irish oats. Any problems from eating them or other oats?

    Thanks in advance,

Rachel - gluten-free since 2003 (diagnosed by bloodwork and biopsy)

daughter age 6 - gluten free since 2003 (diagnosed at 3 - bloodwork and biopsy)

daughter age 4 - gluten-free since 2004 (positive bloodwork, negative biopsy, 2 genetic markers at age 22 mos.)

    son age 1 1/2 gluten-free since birth

    Well,

I take what's called "Berry Green" It's an Organic Drink of fruits and vegetables. It says that there's organic oats in it. I've emailed the company and I'm waiting for a reply on this. But to just eat oats from anything out of any grocery store or actually cook with it....no

  14. Last time I got glutened, I was very dizzy and even got mentally confused to the point where I could not understand what was being said to me. My husband sat me down and I drank 5 bottles of Propel. Apparently I was very dehydrated, yet I did not have bad d, only one time in fact. I think low blood sugar may have contributed to mine, but I do not necessarily think I have hypoglycemia, I think it was just in combination with the gluten and dehydration. Maybe your Sprite was part of the problem.

When I had my gluten challenge, I was often so dizzy I could not drive.

Yeah....my boyfriend was asking me questions but I couldn't answer them. The more that people were asking me if I was okay, the dizzier I got...you cana tell by this reply...I'm still not quite right. I'm fumbling around. I get dehydrated alot too. What's up with that situation. I never had a problem with that before and now. Geez...As soon as they gave me some juice I started feeling better though. Thanks for listening to me ramble yall. This life style change is extremely challenging and nobody around me understands...I live in Southeast Texas...nobody really even know about Celiac. Hell, my gastro doctor doesn't even know that much about it. When diagnosed he just gave me a list of what not to eat and send my on my way. This place is really all I got right now.

  15. Do you know for sure that the sausage and the beans and rice are gluten free? At the party did you drink anything?

Know, I assumed they were. No...no alcohol just some sprite. I know that my affects when being glutenned are far more worse than at the beginning. This really scared me though. Do you ever feel really dizzy...
