  1. I like Better Batter flour and gluten free Bisquik. The Bisquik makes really good pancakes, and the pizza recipe on the box is also pretty good. If you see this on Nov. 26, 2012, Gluten Freely is having free shipping for that day only. This might be a good chance for you to get an assortment of things. Unlike Amazon, they sell single items. Chocolate Chex isn't on sale, but I can't get it locally, so I'm glad to be able to get it. If you haven't been to this site, they have quite a few things - Lara bars, Chebe mixes, Pamela's mixes, Progresso soup, and more.
  3. I'm sorry to say that Blue Bell milk chocolate has gluten in it. We have it in our freezer and I just double checked. The ingredient list says "flour (wheat)." This is my dad's favorite ice cream, and we were all baffled when we read the ingredients. Luckily he can still eat it, but I can't. I don't know why they think they need to throw a spoon full of flour into ice cream!

  5. You could be reacting to the xylitol. It's an artifical sweetener, and it often upsets people's stomachs.
  6. Does Funfetti icing have sprinkles? Those are a potential problem, some sprinkles contain gluten.
  7. There's no Starbucks near me, but I thought I'd pass this along. I looked up all 3 bars mentioned, and Kind lists them as gluten free. "On February 5th. Starbucks will sample KIND bars at all of their 7,000 stores across the country! Drop in to try one of the two delicious flavors selling at your local Starbucks: Fruit & Nut Delight and Cranberry Almond+Antioxidants." Link They also say "Starbucks adds Almond Cashew + Omega 3 to its healthy snack lineup" so I check it as well, just in case. Here's the links for each bar, under "Description" each one says gluten free. Fruit and nut Cranberry and almond Almond and cashew I hope some of you get to take advantage of this!
  8. They're a jelled fruit candy, dusted with powdered sugar. They're really delicious, and different from other kinds of candy. I'm impressed with their response, they seem to really know their stuff.

This is what I generally see. ...ingredient, ingredient, malt (barley), ingredient... ...ingredient, ingredient, natural flavoring (derived from milk and wheat), ingredient... ...ingredient, ingredient, food starch (corn), ingredient... So, for those companies, if you don't see wheat, rye, barley, or oats in the ingredients, you should be fine.
  10. The problem is, they are changing so many of their products say "may contain wheat." So corn chips are labeled as made with "Corn, Oil, and Salt...May contain wheat." Does this mean, made in a factory that also uses wheat? Does this mean, they sprinkle wheat on the conveyor belt to prevent sticking? There's no way of knowing.
  11. I just want to say what a wonderful friend you are, taking the gluten free-issue seriously, and taking time to research things.
  12. I take Natural Calm, which is powdered magnesium citrate. It's labeled gluten-free. Because it's a powder, you can start with a small amount and work your way up. It would still give me diarrhea sometimes (as magnesium will). I recently started taking VSL#3 probiotics, and that made a huge difference. I can't help thinking the probiotics are helping my body absorb the magnesium, instead of just wasting it. So you might consider trying probiotics as well.
  13. You can have an allergy to anything. I have a horrible reaction to sorghum flour, far worse than my gluten reaction. Lots of gluten-free products are made with it, so I have to check everything carefully. I eat the Dinty Moore stew all the time without problems. (It's thickened with corn starch.) Have you ever eaten it before? Did your problems match your usual gluten reaction, or were there some differences?
  14. You might consider making your own with Chebe mix. The All Purpose mix doesn't have any of the things you're allergic to. It's a simple mix to make, it's not a yeast bread so it doesn't require rising. Their webpage has recipes for making sandwich and hotdog buns. One big warning - not everyone likes Chebe. It's chewy, not soft and fluffy. I love it myself. I can buy it for less that $3 a package at Drug Emporium. If you can find it at a good price locally, it might be worth experimenting with.

The serving size is 1/10th for 150 calories and 37g carbs and 1g protein.
