Relacore is an otc cortisol blocker. It's marketed as a weight loss aide. I buy mine at Kroger because it's cheaper there than drug stores. Cortislim is about the same thing, but for me it doesn't work as well. I tried it because my doctor thought that my hives might be from stress. It helped with them, so I thought I had found the solution for a while. Eventually I ended up with my Celiac dx and figured out that's what was causing them. Relacore uses rice as a filler.

I also take Oil of Olay vitamins (the energy pack) and if I take 2 packs those days it seems to help. They're the greatest vitamins I've ever tried.

Oh yeah, and I eat a bunch of chocolate and ice cream and try to tell myself that crying is therapeutic.

Robitussin meds and drops are ok too.

I'd say that depends on each kid. My little brother stayed sick for 5 days or more when something knocked him down. My son is almost always better in 3 days no matter what he's dealing with.

Girl Ninja or Girl Head are hubby's affectionate nicknames for me. If he has a specific reason for choosing those, I don't know what it is. What a weirdo, eh? It's cool, though. It could be soo much worse.

In addition to a variety of other symptoms, gluten makes me extremely over sensitive and depressed. I spend at least a whole day crying, sometimes more. I stress about issues in my personal relationships (like my brother must hate me because he hasn't called me in a month) that really aren't there. I feel overwhelmed by even simple tasks if there's any obligation or deadline attached. At first, it's hard to recognize it for what it is, especially if I don't realize that I was glutened.

Strangely, before I went gluten-free my depression symptoms were way more aggressive. I didn't cry or mope. I felt really angry and was combative, negative, verbally abusive, etc. That's pretty much gone now except for rare instances. The "other depression" is new to me and I'm still working on coping methods. If I know that I've been glutened, I take Relacore. It helps with the depression/ desperation feelings and also keeps my hives to a minimum.

The Denny's I worked at used a powdered ranch we had to mix up ourselves and I believe the mix was from Hidden Valley. Aren't their normal ranch dressings we can get at the store not safe either?

Is there an Asian market anywhere near you? I have looked for wonton wraps that don't have wheat gluten, but I haven't found any at the mainstream grocers near me. All the spring roll wraps I've found have wheat. I think I might have to find myself an Asian market. It's the crab rangoon I miss the most.

As for the sausage, I think we need more info on what exactly her issue is. Whatever she can't have, I'm sure someone on here can help.

Excedrin has a little bit of caffeine in it. It was originally formulated for people experiencing caffeine withdrawal. I've always just quit cold turkey when I felt the need for caffeine becoming obsessive. I can't wean very well.

My last reaction lasted 8 days and I'm still getting spotty flare-ups of hives which is my most persistent symptom. It seems to me that I get a totally new symptom every time. This time it was an awful sore throat. Some people have said they react for 10 days or more.

I get awful headaches. I'd be lost without excedrin migraine. Excedrin tension headache for those who can't have aspirin.

The malt mix could be made from corn, but I'd ask to see the ingredients. If there's actually someplace I can have a malt again I'll be sooo happy!

I like to make a big batch of Bob's hot cereal on Sunday and keep it in the fridge to microwave all week. It's soo good with some nuts, dried cranberries, butter, and brown sugar (just a little, but it makes such a difference!). Mmmmm.

I also vote for almond milk. We drank that and used it for cereal and baking when we were vegetarian. I liked it the best of all the milk alternatives.

I'm still feeling my last glutening. Tuesday night at work, I ate 6 caramel mini rice cakes from Quaker. I realize I should know better. Within 15 minutes I started getting hives, dizzy, felt like I might pass out, migraine, sore throat, sore body and joints, really cold. The guy I work with got to watch it start. He was amazed at how fast I reacted. It was the only thing I'd eaten besides a banana a few hours before. The migraine lasted until Thursday morning. I still have a sore throat and mild brain fog. No canker sores this time.

I have tested negative for wheat allergy, but am absolutely intolerant. The docs I saw didn't seem to realize the two could exist separately, so did not consider Celiac possible for me.

Munchkinette - I tried this recipe last week and my family totally loved it. I found it in a different forum and I don't know who it originated with. It was really satisfying. The commentary isn't mine. I copied it along with the recipe. I did my own with 2 medium eggs at 400 for 20 min and I thought it was fine.

Pizza Crust

you take 3 cups cooked rice (1 cup dry), mix with 1 cup shredded cheddar and 1 (or 2) eggs, mush it out onto a pizza pan, make a lip around the edge to hold in the toppings and bake for 18-20 minutes (I think it was at 375 degress). Then add your toppings and bake or broil until your toppings are the way you like (I like the cheese to brown a little). I baked mine at 450 for 20 minutes before topping. Then 15 minutes after topping. It was still a little too soft in the middle, but absolutely delicious. This might work better in personal sized pizzas.

Last week I met a guy who has been a general manager for Outback for 13 years. He has worked at 5 stores in MI. No one had ever explained the gluten free menu to him. He thought all of the stuff on it was sugar free. Kinda scary. I did my best to explain it to him.
