  1. Guess that explains why I keep finding myself here!
  2. Just touching your kids' food probably isn't be a problem if you wash your hands thoroughly afterwards. But if you cook for them, the flour in the air can be a problem. Leah Some vitamin E is derived from soy, but you do need to check!
  3. Thanks for posting your results! That idea sounded good to me too. I'll try it next time I have leftovers. (Wouldn't work with saucy ones, though...) Leah
  4. Hello? Anybody?
  5. My dh used to burp the words "Excuse me" ... er... how ....polite?
  6. Do you use hand lotion, sunscreen, lip balm, moisturizer, shampoo? Any of these could pose a problem. You might look at Nini's Newbie Kit to get a fuller idea of cross contamination issues... they're actually quite complicated, but worth pursuing because those tiny glutenings add up. Nini's site: Open Original Shared Link Leah
  7. Most chewing gum is safe, though there are some exceptions. Wrigley's is safe. But some folks do have bad reactions to sugarless gum, so consider that... Leah I really think you need to give the diet more time, Toni. Especially if you have been ill for a while, it takes time to recover. I've been gluten-free since late May & I'm just now beginning...
  8. Welcome to the forum, Babe! This is a great place to find answers. Your height loss is making me think osteoporosis-- a fairly common Celiac symptom, since we have trouble absorbing calcium. Have you been tested? As to the gastric symptoms, are you sure you are really gluten-free? Have you checked your cosmetics, cross-contamination issues, &...
  9. No worm-eating please! Try chocolate instead! Though I guess going over D will make it harder to find bras... still, better a new bra than pain!!
  10. I had a lot of breast tenderness after about a month gluten-free, went on the board to ask about it, & several members mentioned they had gained a cup size... sure enough, my bras were too small, hence the discomfort... never would have occurred to me, but my feeling was just like yours, undressing at night felt much as it did when pregnant or nursing...
  11. I don't have gluten-free kids, but for myself, I'm partial to Neutrogena brand, since most of their products are gluten-free, & they will send you a definite list unlike many cya companies. (There was one posted on this board, I'll try to search for it. But it may be out of date...) edit: Open Original Shared Link Their sunscreens are not all...
  12. There are several bread recipes on the Site Index here, & I would highly recommend buying Bette Hagman's The Gluten Free Gourmet Bakes Bread. Many great recipes in there & if they include dairy she usually recommends a substitute.
  13. p.s. There was another post that cast some doubt on the soy crisps-- could it be a cc issue?
  14. I don't know much about gall bladder issues, but the symptoms sound suspiciously Celiac to me, & Celiac can be triggered by an unrelated health event like surgery. I'd say it's definitely worth looking into especially if his rash resembles Dermatitis Herpetiformis (you can search for pix on google). Leah
  15. I know what you mean! I've learned so much from you all. There is somebody who has done a study showing that the amalgamated wisdom of a large group beats the "experts" in most fields... I'd be willing to bet we'd beat 99% of doctors! Leah
  16. Hey PJ, I have catmint in my garden. Think it's related to catnip but not exactly the same. (Cats still love to roll in it.) Do you think it would be safe to try a tea of it? Leah
  17. Susan, sounds like a sort of R-Glutening to me, a little cc from brother & ex-girlfriend, & then you went & took a bite of the real thing! Hope he's out of your system soon. Judy, nice to see your radiant smile! Celia, there was an E coli outbreak in the water of the town next door. What's going on here!!!??? Leah p.s. I typed g...
  18. Mine were plain sea salt, but I'm also wondering if there is a specific problem for me with soy flour. Other soy products haven't bothered me, but MiDel gingersnaps do & they have soy flour too. Of course they could have been cc too as they're made in a wheat facility... Who knows, I may be barking up the wrong tree, this is a fairly recent issue. ...
  19. Hmmmm, well I just posted about the Genisoy crisps causing a problem for me. Wonder if there's a glutened batch out there? Leah
  20. I've posted a couple of times about how MiDel Gingersnaps bothered me. Well today I had similar symptoms from Soy Crisps (by Genisoy). They both contain soy flour. The odd thing is, tofu, soy sauce, &c. don't seem to cause trouble. Nor does other bean flour, as far as I've noticed. Is there something specific to soy flour? Or is it just a coincidence...
  21. As Sherri says, peppermint is soothing-- but be careful if your problem is heartburn or reflux, it can make it worse. Ginger is renowned for curbing nausea, especially motion sickness. But it is better to pin down the cause of your distress & attend to that rather than treating symptoms-- if you are gluten intolerant no treatment will help you...
  22. Sorry you're feeling so rotten, Lister, hope tomorrow's better... & definitely see the doctor, you need to figure this out. Hang in there, Leah
  23. I think I'd take the chance since your main problem lately seems to be not eating enough... I'd hate to make that worse.
  24. Wouldn't it be sweet if it works? Just for the cc issue alone... to eat out without fear! Ah....
