ARCHIVED Tazorac Cream - Anyone Ever Use This?
queenofhearts replied to DingoGirl's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Once when my husband was out of work I decided to cut out coffee to save money. I work as a freelancer & I found I ran out of steam about 3 hours earlier without coffee! Did the math & realized it was thriftier to keep drinking it. -
I have the opposite problem, eating gives me chills. It seems to be diminishing now that I'm gluten-free though... unless that's just because it's so hot now! But now that I think of it, hot tea makes me perspire, & it's not just the heat, because coffee doesn't...

You might try making them into hummus or refried beans, breaking them down some before you eat them...

Never heard that... nothing gets cut, isn't that what surgery usually entails? Though I guess the biopsy is a little cut, actually... -

Hey, I've seen those Austin bats fly out at dusk! It's really pretty cool. I was born in Austin & have relatives there so visit now & then. It would be a cool city if it weren't so durn HOT! (105 when I visited June before last...) HURRAY your challenge is almost over!!!! -

That's spooky about the name Tasmin! It's beautiful though, I can see why you picked it. My docs told me my nausea was due to the increased hormone level with twins, so that could be it... but I suspect Celiac connections anyway, since it also does affect hormones. -

Do any of you have experience with Prevacid? My doc prescribed a daily pill & I took it for a while & then my prescription ran out. When I stopped I had ferocious burning, WAY worse than before I started, & having been down that rebound road with Sudafed, I've decided I'm not comfortable taking something with such wicked rebound. It might actually... -

With me, for some reason, the only thing that would stay down was dry Cheerios. After the boys were born I couldn't stand the sight of those O's! (They loved them of course.) -
ARCHIVED Do You Ever Just Want To Try It Again?
queenofhearts replied to KayJay's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I can definitely relate to the wish to partake in special celebrations that center around food. The social aspect of this illness is one of the hardest parts. But on the bright side, it's easy to make really good pie crust gluten-free & most fillings can be adapted by replacing flour with tapioca. Now yeast bread.... that's my tormentor. I need to... -
ARCHIVED How Can I Convince My Family?
queenofhearts replied to ElizabethN's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is really a toughie. I'm officially diagnosed, & my sister has had health problems all her life that sure sound Celiac to me, but she's resisting being tested. One of my sons also shows some signs. He's 19 & doesn't want to hear about it. Sadly, I'm not sure there is anything one can do to convince someone who won't listen. My thought... -

ARCHIVED Is It Possible To Be Overweight And Have Celiac?
queenofhearts replied to azmom3's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I really don't know why but the statistics don't lie-- even the NIH points out that Celiacs can be overweight. Have you seen their new site? I hope it will help doctors forget what they read in their old textbooks & wake up to reality! Open Original Shared Link Leah -
Are you sure it was gluten? I had a bout of food poisoning recently that was pretty similar in effect. Or is your mom one of the ones who doesn't believe in cc, that sort of thing? Leah Oh! And I just remembered, years ago I got food poisoning from some raw broccoli. I'd never heard of such a thing but I was told... how do I put this delicately...

It just worked when I tried it again. I'm sending the address to my equally javafied brother! (How's that for incorrect English?) Thanks! Funny I was just on an insomnia thread... giving advice! Hm... -

Actually I was really sick when I was pregnant & when they told me it was twins, my first thought was "Thank God, I'll never have to go through this again!" (I really wanted 2 kids.) Of course the extreme nausea was probably from my undiagnosed Celiac. -

ARCHIVED So What Do You Do When You Can't Sleep?
queenofhearts replied to megsylvan2's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My son (19) has had trouble with insomnia & his doctor cautioned against Benadryl because it leaves a "hangover" effect. What really helped him is Melatonin, but the effect isn't immediate, it takes a few days to kick in. It works by regulating your body clock, not by knocking you out. Leah Oh-- I meant to tell you my weird trick-- I do crossword... -

I just heard somewhere that it's very high in antioxidants too! Maybe it's the enzymes that are helping with digestion, I'd never heard that one. -

Everyone thinks I'm nuts when I say it, but coffee helps me too, & that's even though I had D as my main GI symptom... particularly if I eat any sweets, I really HAVE to have coffee or I feel ill. I really don't know what it's doing, but it helps somehow. Leah -
ARCHIVED Not Sure If Its Celiac?
queenofhearts replied to Forrest's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My kids used to tease me because I was always trying some new supplement, food, exercise... I kept thinking I must be missing something to feel so bad, & I was, but only because gluten was preventing all the healthy stuff from getting through. When I was diagnosed it all made sense. My son actually said the other day, "That's why you were always taking... -
Okay, now Lister, that's not a funny joke! You have to hang in there, things will get better. And I have an idea... this may sound weird... but you have a balcony & you live in Oregon, that probably means you can grow some greens in pots that will keep you healthier for less money. Chard is easy, keeps coming all winter in a mild climate. Seeds...
