  1. I'm right by the jail, if you remember wheret that is. I don't want to put my address on here, but I will PM you if you want to know the exact information. I don't want to put the real address because that could get me into some trouble... you know how people are! I'm familiar with Las Vegas, the church is really strong there. I LOVE the SLC/Utah...
  2. Am I the only one who went to the SLC GIG meeting tonight? It was fun, they made waffle cones and we got to eat them! LDS Business is where I go right now, so I guess that means that I am kind of a BYU Student sinse I go to a BYU school. I still might go to BYU... you never know! Many of my friends go there and it would be fun to go with...
  3. I have pretty serious asthma. Before I went gluten free earlier this year I kept getting asthma attacks and my throat felt like it was swelling up. I thought it was just my nerves because it was during the end of school and I had a bunch of tests, then I went home for the summer and thought it must have been the city air... Nope, as soon as I went gluten...

    ARCHIVED Ran A 5k Today

congratulations on running this morning. i hope everything works out for you and the weight comes back on quickly. i'm sure it will since now your body will be eating things it can absorb.
  5. I actually live in WVC, and attend a University of Utah single's ward in SLC. I would like to see how other people deal with the sacrament too. I would also like to get in touch with all of you to see what everyone eats. I am happy that there are others like us in the SLC area too! I wish my classes weren't at the times that the support group meets...
  6. good to know i can still go on a mission!! wonderful news! i missed the baking bread activity because i was coming back to UT from my real home. dang it! i wish i had been there! sacrament is a trial. i am in a single's ward so every single elder in the entire ward knows about my situation. i sit in the same place every week and i bring a Frito...
  7. michelle, welcome to the board! we are glad you're here. i hope you can get all the answers you're looking for. to me it sounds like you might have celiac, so just be patient! i agree with Carla - eat your gluten and make sure doctors know what they are doing! carla, i heard that the hospitals are supposed to have your biopsies on record for 7 years...
  8. happy birthday Bette! i just got her book and am very excited to make some stuff! thanks for sharing, Leah!
  9. I think you can definatly eat well gluten-free on a budget. Grill a hamburger in a frying pan on the stove and serve it with a sprinkle of salt and new potatoes and broccoli with natural, unsalted butter. Make chicken and have yams. These vegetables will fill you up and because they are carbs will keep you full longer. For breakfast have some fruit or...
  10. My birthday was on Sunday. It was a pretty bad birthday for me too. I just moved to a new state to be a live-in nanny with a family that I had just met on the previous Wednesday. I told them I what I could and could not have and they were feeling very overwhelmed. I told the family a few days before that it was going to be my birthday, and they didn't...
  11. jabberwife, i love on the border and i ate there the other day. they don't have dedicated fryers, so there could be cc and the waitress warned me about that. but they do have a gluten-free menu and when i ate there, i ordered the chicken fajitas or something with no sour cream and corn tortillas (which were obviously from the freezer). i enjoyed it...

  15. Hey all! This is my second year of college and will be my first one gluten-free. The school I go to used to have cooking apartments, but recently we moved so now the dorms are just a room and a bath and all residents of the dorm must purchase a meal plan. I am not really worried about living in the dorm, because I did it last year and everything turned...
  16. there are recipes that call for butter, eggs, milk, whole-milk yogurt, sour cream, milk.... most look like they just call for butter and eggs most of the time.
  17. AndreaB, The email address I used is Foodph@aol.com and that will reach her. We had company come over a few nights ago after I said I wanted to make this cake. So I got ambitious and made it. Our guests couldn't even tell that it was gluten-free and I was so happy because the cake tasted just as good as I remembered it. (The other day I did a gluten...
  18. I actually own this book! When I got it I could not believe that she had come up with all of the recipes in there. They all look great, haven't actually made anything out of there. We have company coming this weekend, maybe I'll make that cake! She is a really nice lady. I emailed her to tell her that I loved her book and she replied promptly and told...
  19. the only reason i asked about your mission is because i'm planning on going on one in a couple of years when i'm old enough to put in my papers. i was going to ask you about how you ate on your mission gluten-free. i guess you didn't know you had problems with gluten when you were on your mission. i wonder if they'll even let me go, but i've been planning...

  22. Hi! I am 19 and I've been struggling with stomache aches for the past 8 years. I've had a lot of the tests done, except they were done when I was 15. I am not sure if the doctors ruled out Celiac, but I have my test results just need some help deciphering them. If any of you experts have any ideas, I'd love to hear it. Also, I started a *real* gluten...
