    ARCHIVED Carbonation?

I thought that, but I got it from the regular root beer too...and from a different brand of root beer I had.
  2. I've been having some GI issues lately, so I've been extremely careful about everything I eat. No dairy or gluten but I still wasn't feeling right. I'd still get really bloated, experience throbbing pains in my intestines and frequent stomach aches (which is rare for me) and bad, almost constant gas. At first I thought it was soy or caffiene of some...
  3. I found out today that Tommy's in Coventry has some gluten-free stuff. Stir Crazy...well, I don't remember if they have an actual menu, but they do have gluten-free sauces. The manager came out and talked to us and told us what sauces we can have gluten free.
  4. Wow I'm surprised so many of you smoke. Cigarette smoke is really bad for my asthma. If I'm around it for even a half hour, I start coughing and my lungs start burning.
  5. Are you sure it was gluten? Maybe you're just not used to Mexican food? I think Mexican gives most people gas. Just a suggestion, but it could be gluten too.
  6. I'm in Chicago for a few weeks, and today we went to Da Luciano's in River Grove, which is just west of Chicago. I didn't see anything posted about this place, but it's amazing! It's an italian restaurant, and they have an entire gluten-free menu. I got fried calamari, garlic bread, ravioli and a cannoli! It was all so good. I haven't been this full...
  7. I'm from Cleveland. There really aren't that many places...that I know of, aside from PF Changs and Outback. I'm trying to think if we go anywhere else. Stir Crazy at Legacy Village will accomodate gluten-free. If I think of anywhere else, I'll post it.
  8. I wasn't actually diagnosed. My dad has it and my sister has it. I got a blood test that came back negative (I think, or else the doc didn't know how to read it...they said I'm really allergic to dust). I also wasn't eating much gluten at the time. I didn't get anything else. I went to my dad's GI once, and he just told me to keep a food diary. I did...
  9. I thought I heard somewhere that celiacs don't tolerate L-glutamine well... But maybe someone just made that up? I don't mean to change the subject, though! I hope you feel better.
  10. My sister has Celiac disease too, and I guess she found out from her friend the other day. I'm not sure how she found out, though.
  11. I found out just the other day that the chocolate chips used in Graters ice cream are not ok. Apparently, the chocolate chips are made from the chocolate that drips off of the chocolate-covered cones and cookie dough and whatever else they chocolate cover. Just FYI. I'm sad because those chocolate chips were good!
  12. I'm sorry that you didn't get much help at the ER, but you have to consider a few things. Unless they bring in a specialist, the ER docs won't know everything. They'll run blood tests to rule out anything life-threatening, but if you don't have something that's really serious, they have patients in critical condition who are higher priority. I hate to...
  13. I didn't think it would work for that reason. I feel like there's a lot more to celiac disease than we know, though. I don't think it's just that we can't handle gluten, but there's something wrong with us, and gluten-intolerance is a by-product.
  14. Yeah I'm going to wait a little longer before I eliminate anything else. I'm thinking it might be soy as well, but really hoping its not!
  15. I don't think it really was trying to say that it's ok to cheat, but that was my interpretation. She was saying that most people probably will cheat at least once, and I think there is merit to that, especially in the beginning when you're frustrated and hungry...But that doesn't mean it's a good thing to do, and I don't think she was saying it was.
  16. Hmmm. I have a separate oat allergy (I found out from a scratch test). I don't know if I have trouble with all of that other stuff. It's hard to tell, but without gluten and caesin the last few days, I still haven't felt great...
  17. My coach, who reads a zillion articles about everything and knows about everything, mentioned this, but he doesn't know if it would work. Of course, he wouldn't tell me to just eat gluten, but if I were about to go out to eat or encounter a meal that I suspected might have CC or something, it might help. Quoted from him: Did you see this one too? Open...
  18. Hmmm when I read it, I liked it, but maybe I didn't read all of it because I don't remember all this contraversial stuff. I interpreted the cheating chapter differently. I always feel like I'm in the middle of this no gluten at all vs. some gluten is ok debate. My dad and his doctor claim it's ok to cheat now and then because you won't react to small...
  19. What's the difference? Is there a difference? I don't know which I have, but I know I'm better without gluten!
  20. Well, they really can't do dental work without numbing the area. I don't think they're allowed. ...My dad is a periodontist. With that much pain, you'd go into shock. I would call your dentist right now about your symptoms.
  21. The Changs Spicy Chicken really reminds me of Chicken McNuggets, which i think it why i like it so much because sometimes I crave chicken McNuggets even though they're awful and I haven't had one in like 10 years.
  22. Everyone else has given you great tips. One other thing. At first, it is very intimidating, and you'll probably feel sad about all the food you can't eat anymore. As you adapt and realize that there are foods you can eat, that seems to go away. Now, I'm, dare I say it, proud of my Celiac Disease because it forces me to eat healthier than everyone...
  23. You'd think I was pregnant if you didn't know better.
  24. I had the singapore street noodles last time, and I wasn't impressed. They don't have very much...flavor, I thought. Plus, I got sick.
  25. Hmmm maybe I pass as a kid because I'm 20? ;-) But you'd still save $4!
