  1. Thanks guys. I know I need to start cooking for myself more. It's been hard lately because I've been traveling around Ohio and Michigan a lot, and I haven't stayed in one place long enough to buy fresh food and actually use it all before I leave again. I've been really careful for the past 24 hours, I haven't had any gluten or lactose and I'm feeling...
  2. I find that some brands make me feel not-so-great, but the brown rice bread from Whole Foods is OK. I really like the um I think it's enjoy life bread that's really springy (it tastes like eating a sponge, but in a good way) but it seems to make me a little sick so I don't eat it anymore.
  3. I got sick from the dessert, but I also do have a mild pecan allergy. It was the first time I had pecans since my diagnosis, and it gave me a headache...It also could have been from the obscene amount of lactose. As a side note, if you want ribs, you can save like $8 if you get 2 orders of kids ribs instead of 1 order of adult ribs, and you get 2 sides...

    ARCHIVED Normal Bm's

I used to have quite a few per day, before I knew I had celiac disease. I only got really bad BMs when I hate extreme amounts of gluten (like after carbo-loading), but usually they were frequent and quite tan. Now it's down to like 1 a day. If I get glutened now, I get our good friend Mr. C.
  5. I don't know if it's gluten or lactose or some other allergy that I don't know about (probably soy), but I have been sick like..all the time lately. Yesterday, we went to PF Changs, but I definitely got glutened, probably from cross contamination. As we were leaving, I got really bad brain fog. Then I got more symptoms as the day went on...Dizziness, nauseous...
  6. Yeah I get sick less...I didn't even get a cold this spring! I think that was the first time ever.
  7. I got glutened from there yesterday...but I think that was the first time.
  8. Fruity pebbles and cocoa puffs are gluten free??? I would have never expected that.
  9. Has she gotten any other allergy tests? Scratch tests, blood tests, ect. Also, sometimes it can take awhile to start feeling better because of the damage gluten does. 2 weeks may not be enough time to be completely better. Also, depending on how familiar you are with gluten, you could be unknowlingly feeding her stuff with gluten in it, either from...
  10. So are PowerGels not gluten-free? On the powerbar site, it tells you not to eat the bars because they have gluten in them, but it doesn't say anything about the gels.

    ARCHIVED Sports Drinks

Also, Hammer Nutrition products...a lot of them are gluten-free. They started making bars that are gluten-free, but they're actually just the same as the Orgnaic Food Bars they sell at whole foods and other stores like that...Seriously, exactly the same, except bigger and cheaper.
  12. I was just diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea...I did a sleep test a few nights ago with a CPAP. I haven't heard the results yet, so I don't know if it helped. I do have a deviated septum, though, so I think mine might be fixable. My doctor thought I had narcolepsy, but I have a feeling it's just good ol' gluten (on accident, of course).
  13. Be careful with the Wendy's frosty. It was on a gluten-free list for awhile, but then they took it off. I'm not sure if it's still off, but I don't trust it.

    ARCHIVED Pf Changs

Also, if you're worried about them messing up your order, the Changs spicy chicken is gluten-free anyway.
  15. It's hard to tell. Symptoms can be caused by so much. I start to drive myself crazy if I think about what's causing every one of my ailments.
  16. I can understand getting a gluten cake at work, but at home would make me really mad. Sometimes my mom tries to feed me stuff with gluten in it (and she knows about it because my dad has been diagnosed for like 30 years), and that makes me mad. For me, it's not that I get upset watching people eat stuff that I can't eat, but sometimes I freak out when...
  17. I go to U of M, so I'm in Ann Arbor.
  18. Yeah I had trouble with soy for awhile after going gluten-free, but now it's ok.
  19. I think I might need to do something like this as well. Lately, I'll get extremely tired after eating (more than is normal), even if it's food that I know is gluten-free. Maybe I need to go off of lactose again. Whenever I'm cooking for myself, I don't use lactose, but if I go out to eat or something, I usually let it slide. I think I'll just start paying...
  20. Since we have to go through the same process every time at a restaurant to see if what we're ordering won't make our intestines throb, most of you probably have it down to a methodical order. I usually start with "Is there wheat in that?" and depending on where I am, I don't always ask more questions. I used to ask "is there gluten in that?" but most...
  21. It's hard to know if we get like that after being glutened because of the physiological effects or the psychological effects. It's possible that we get frustrated and mad at ourselves for not being so careful and frustrated with the world for not accomodating our needs, hence causing us to be somewhat introverted.
  22. I don't know...I think I would die if I went vegetarian along with being gluten-free. My diet is already restricted enough.
  23. My symptoms have gotten worse over time... If you *really* wanted to see if gluten was causing your symptoms, you could intentionally eat it...but you probably don't want to do that.
  24. My celiac disease has been a bit of a guessing game. My dad has it. My sister has it. I went gluten-free for a few months last year during school (and almost starved because there was not much I could eat in the dorms). I went to a doctor in the spring after school got out. My gluten test was negative, but I don't think I was eating enough gluten...
  25. Well, I'm not sure. I've always had serious attention problems..I can't focus on anything. I also have some anxiety issues. It hasn't gotten better since I've been gluten-free. I'm also still tired quite a bit. My doctor is trying to figure out what else is wrong with me. I did one sleep test that said I had sleep apnea, and I'm doing another...
