  1. I have recieved the results of the blood test for the increased number of antibodies and I have tested positive at a level of 155. Is this a high number of antiobodies or not? Has anyone had higher or lower and been diagnosed? I will be getting a biopsy in around 4 weeks. thanks in advance.
  2. Hi, my 5 year old daughter is being investigated for possible Celiac disease after several months of GI symptoms (pain, diarrhea alternating with constipation, recurring bouts of severe nausea, vomiting...). She scored >300 on a blood test where normal values are under 15 (transglutaminase antibodies I think). At the moment, we are waiting for the results of a second blood test to confirm the earlier results before a biopsy is scheduled in January. Her pediatric gastroenterologist offered no suggestions for dealing with "flare ups" and I've turned to you for advice. Can you think of anything that might appease the symptoms, especially the nausea and vomiting which really scare her? I thought drinking water might help to move the food faster through the GI tract and make her symptoms more "stool related", does anyone have any support for this theory? Tonight, I tried an acupressure point that had worked for me during my pregnancy-related nausea, and it seems to have helped (time will tell). I'm not expecting medically validated advice, but I would appreciate any anecdotal experience you might have so I could try to ease her suffering while I still have to feed her gluten. It breaks my heart to see her in pain like this. Thanks for your help.
  3. Hi guys. I'm new here and I don't know what else to do but I can't go on like this. I have a problem and I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this. In September I started to feel really sick and have a pain in the lower right side of my stomach. The Dr thought it was appendicitis and I was sent to A&E because the pain came on suddenly and escalated. It turned out not to be appendicitis, but they thought it was an ovarian cyst. It wasn't that either. I went to the DR recently because the pain is still there, I and I felt sick and like utter crap a lot of the time. I had a blood and stool test and it came back negative for several types of cancer and celiacs. However I have been keeping a food diary and the things that irritate my stomach most are bread, pasta, pastries which have gluten in them but other things don't make me feel sick at all. I read that you can still have celiacs and have a negative test result. Has anyone had this issue? I have noticed that I am tired all the time. I am usually tired in the winter and my mum bought me a sunlamp but its not helping; I also feel sick particularly after eating, my stomach hurts frequently lower right hand side and I have tummy troubles (mostly pooping too much) . The funny thing is that the doctor asked me had I noticed I had lost weight without trying. I said no because my flatmate and I don't have scales in our house; but my jeans are getting loser and I am eating a lot of chocolate and carbs like pasta. I also have naturally sort of olive toned skin and my flatmate says I go pale and look sick. What do you guys think? Should I go back to the Drs after Christmas? Some of my cousins have problems with gluten (and possibly my Dad and Granddad) so it's a possibility and I also tend to hurl after one pint of beer. It's really wrecking my life and can't carry on feeling this rubbish all the time. Thanks to any one who reads this. Emily
  4. Hello everyone, I was diagnosed in early January and adopted a 100% gluten free diet, as well as trying to eat primarily whole foods. I felt pretty much completely better and my main symptom, persistent nauseation, was alleviated. I was doing very well for several weeks, when I consumed a large amount of black rice and had diarrhea for about a week (featuring undigested black rice - ew). Since then, I have had increasingly intense symptoms, and a wider variety of symptoms than I was suffering pre diagnosis. I usually experience a few days where I feel almost back to normal, and then I will feel terrible as though I have been glutened for many days. I have extreme lower abdominal pain that lasts 2 - 3 minutes (worst pain I have ever experienced, I double over and want to cry out), fatigue, I feel nauseated, indigestion, passing partially digested food, diarrhea, burning in the stomach, anxiety (and anxiety driven nightmares), and heartburn. Has anyone else experienced this? What should I try? I am considering attempting to cut out fibre, or trying the SCD diet. Any advice or support would be very, very appreciated. I am beginning to feel very discouraged Isabella
  5. Hello: My name is Amanda. I'm so glad I found this site. Recently I've been going through a bought of extreme stress... Anyway, even more scarier is my health, which looking back now are issues I've had my whole life. I haven't had my period since March so of course I went to the gyno and he found a mass on my ovaries (not cancerous). However he said some of my symptoms couldn't be cause my the mass and suggested that I may have Celiacs and told me to find a good gastro. Here are my symptoms: canker soars (had my whole life) trouble gaining weight (I've had my whole life) tingling in my hands and feet, odd rashes that are extremely itchy on my elbows (I've had my whole life on and off), headaches (I've had my whole life), either I'm constipated so bad I have to take massive amounts of laxatives to go, or I have diarrhea so bad I can't stay out of the bathroom... I've always had irregular "movements" but the past few months its been so bad. I'm in my twenties and I've actually gone in my sleep and in my pants at work while I was running to the bathroom (how embarrassing). I notice the enamel on my teeth is starting to wear away a little bit, my belly is so bloated it looks like in pregnant but I can rarely release anything, when I do it is so foul I have to leave the room. I've lost 14 pounds since March. After I do go to the bathroom I'm so fatigued and exhausted all I can do is lay down for a couple hours... When I go through the spells of diarrhea I can't seem to hold any food in my system and its like water when I go and the color of clay. I'm constantly exhausted lately its awful... I either have no appetite at all or can't stop eating because I'm soooo hungry! I just feel so frail! I've never really been diagnosed with any sort of disease before besides anemia. I also am so irritable and have such bad mood swings lately, sometimes all I can do is cry and I notice I lose my patience with my daughters so much easier lately. Sometimes all I can do is cry. I am so fed up I look anorexic and like a little boy I am so skinny and I am in my mid twenties with two babies. I also get nauseated after I eat. My husband noticed a huge difference in me too, especially my weight. I might also add I have a neural tube defect in my spine (which my doc assured me is not related to these symptoms). Since he suggested Celiacs I've done a bit of research and it seems a lot of the symptoms at there... However they have come and gone my entire life it just seems very prominent now. I wanted to get some feedback from someone who actually has Celiacs Disease and see if they an relate at all and try and figure out if its possible and worth going to get tested. Please excuse all of the typos I am on my phone!
