  1. This recipe comes to us from Phyllis Chinn. 1 tablespoon potato starch 1 teaspoon chili powder 1 teaspoon paprika ¾ teaspoon salt ¾ teaspoon minced onion ½ teaspoon cumin ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper ¼ teaspoon garlic powder ¼ teaspoon sugar 1/8 teaspoon pepper Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Add spices and seasonings and ¾ cup water to 1 pound browned ground meat. Bring to boil, cook 7-10 min., stirring occasionally. Makes filling for 12 tacos (about 3 Tbsp) each.
  2. Has anyone tried the SIMPLY ORGANIC Spicy Taco Seasoning? The ingredients seem safe, but is not certified gluten-free. Thanks!
  3. It's always wonderful to have the opportunity to review a versatile product you can use for seasoning, cooking, and baking. Paleo Powder is gluten-free and also free of MSG. Paleo Powder adds a nice taste to many different foods. I tried it on a frozen hamburger patty before grilling, and it was so much more tender and juicy. I also tried it on chicken before baking. The chicken turned out very moist inside with a crunchy but delicate thickness on the outside. Curious about it as a topping, I tried it on lettuce and it turned a regular Caesar salad into a delicious healthy meal. The powder has the "just-right" combination of chili, garlic, onion, and cumin to make it flavorful, but not overpowering. I no longer need separate shakers for salt and pepper and other spices, as a few shakes of the Paleo Powder Seasoning and food that seemed bland before is now tastier than ever. You can also add a little water to your saucepan while cooking to make a delicious basting sauce. You don't have to be on the Paleo diet to enjoy Paleo Powder. It is the perfect spice for every gluten-free cook's kitchen. For more information, visit their site. Review written by Patricia Seeley.
  4. Finally someone has made a taco seasoning that is not only certified gluten-free and organic, but it also doesn't contain the usual preservatives, artificial colorings and flavorings—including MSG! Another plus about this mix is that it is salt-free, because most taco seasonings are loaded with salt—I like to control the saltiness of my food, thank you. The tacos I made with Spicely Taco Seasoning came out great, and the mix is also free of milk, soy, eggs, fish, shell fish and nuts, for those of you who avoid these common allergens. 5. We tried out Organic Gourmet’s Vegetable Seasoning Stock Concentrate, which is a gluten-free and organic. It dissolved easily in the hot water and the first thing we noticed was the array of colors from the organic herbs and vegetables. The taste of the broth was delicious—it had a natural broth taste without too much sodium—not something that I would associate with a stock concentrate. It had an excellent flavor with the right balance of herbs and was not overpowering. The convenience of this product will open up many new doors in your kitchen—I can’t wait to get started using it!
