  1. Past few days I've been working on a diet plan that will hopefully help more than what I've been doing. This morning I woke up feeling like I did a few hundred crunches yesterday though all I did was rest. My constipation problems haven't ever given me this type of discomfort so I'm not sure if it's the intestines actually starting to heal more. Any suggestions or related experiences? Thanks!
  2. I'm not around here much because I have my symptoms all under control and I live a normal (but gluten free) life. The only time I come around really is to check if certain foods are safe for me or not. That being said, I felt I should make this post to help others with my findings. Hopefully someone else that's struggled like I have with canker sores can find some relief with this information. Some backstory: I was abruptly graced with NCGI shortly after my 22nd birthday. I'm 24 now and with 2 some years of dealing with this diet I've gotten fairly good at it. No symptoms... Except one... Canker sores. My whole life, not just since I got NCGI, but my whole life I have gotten BAD outbreaks of canker cores. Sometimes up to 7-8 in my mouth at one time. I'd get lower lip cankers as big as a shirt button. Just smaller than a dime. I mean... Huge. My lip would swell to double it's size and going to work or seeing family would be so embarrassing. After getting NCGI I found out that it's fairly typical for celiacs to struggle with canker sores. So it seems I was always destined to get celiac of some sort at some point in my life. Thankfully it took until I was 22 and didn't ruin my fun teenage years. The findings... Let me put it simple and straight forward. I have been doing this for 3 months now and have not had a single canker sore since... I will start to get one maybe after biting my cheek or drinking acidic alcohol or candy, but if I just keep up with my routine it won't develop into an actual ulcer. It will die away. ---------------------------------- SENSODYNE toothpaste. It has 2 qualities that make it a canker sore killer. It does not have Sodium Lauryl Sulphate in it. I won't explain what SLS is, you can look it up if you don't know. And the second quality is it balances residual acid in your mouth. The PH of your mouth, essentially. It's very important to brush thoroughly with Sensodyne after any acidic food or drink. Lysine supplement. I take 500mg in pill form twice a day. Lysine from what I have read is an amino acid in many foods, especially in wheat based foods, and celiacs lack in lysine levels. What is Lysine? Again, you'll have to look it up lol. By changing these two things in my life, I have gone 3 solid months without a canker. That is HUGE for me. I hope this information is useful for someone. Here's to 3 more months. Or longer!
  3. Hello everyone, I just want to share my story and see if it sounds like I have DH. I was never diagnosed by a dermatologist, this was a self-diagnosis, but I have many reasons to believe that I am right. I am a 25 year old caucasian female. I consumed gluten for most of my life until the age of 21 or so; then, I developed a weird lesion on my neck that would not go away. I tried different antibiotics, but nothing worked. Then, more lesions started popping up on my neck and then face. Sometimes they would form a line pattern, so I suspected sporotrichosis and took some antifungals, which helped at first, but then stopped helping. The lesions were huge, like the size of a dime, but they mostly hurt and leaked pus (sorry this is gross); however they did not look like boils (that I see on some DH pictures); I think they immediately came out as open sores, but of course I might have picked at them without realizing at the time (being on adderal did not improve things). Their center would be pretty hard and moist, and filled with what looked like granules of some sort. They never really itched (still do not itch); however, they do hurt/sting, rubbing them feels sorta good so I guess they do kinda itch (I am confused lol), but the one on my lip REALLY stings, if I start picking at it, tears would start flowing from my eyes involuntarily. It feels like a thousand pins in my lip. Also, after healing, they would leave a purple and white scar that would not go away and stand out against the rest of the skin; the ones on my face are actually idented sorta like cystic acne scars; the one on my nose is uneven and bumpy. Sometimes the scars would form a mini-blister that would be painful and unproductive to pop; sometimes they would form a pimple. I (mostly) do not eat gluten anymore except rare random exposure due to my forgetfulness or lack of food to eat (the other day I bought Rafaellos and ate a couple before realizing they do have some gluten in them; but I take Gluten Cutter, not sure if that works or not). So, anyways, to summarize: - The lesions do not exactly itch, but they definitely sting/burn, and it feels good to rub some of them (not my lip, that is too painful). - If I remember correctly, they never looked like blisters, and started with pretty large open sores. - If I get an outbreak now, it will start looking almost exactly like a pimple, but if I try to squeeze it, it is a painful, hard, watery blister with nothing coming out. It feels like there is a cluster of granules under the blister. Sometimes it starts as a brown, VERY TOUGH piece of tissue (a little crust that is almost impossible to rip off, later it falls off by itself and a regular crust forms). - The lesions leave scars that are either indented or discolored or both. Even the scars still feel kinda prickly and they never go away. - Cutting down on my gluten intake decreased the number and severity of outbreaks, but I still do get them from time to time. Right now my face does not look so good without make-up. The weirdest part: At some point I though I had Morgellons disease, and my lesions did look exactly like the Morgellons lesions with little "roots", etc; I was also finding fibers on my skin and even under my skin. I am not sure if I was losing my mind or what, but I even studied samples of my skin under microscope and found ingrown fibers, etc. Later those symptoms mysteriously vanished when I started cutting down on gluten intake. I am still not sure what it was. So can anyone relate to this? I am REALLY interested in your feedback! Thanks!
  4. Hello, I'm brand new to the place and I'm not sure if I'm even posting in the right 'area' so feel free to tell me if I make a mistake or something. Okay, well, I guess I should begin and tell you a little about what the heck is going on with me! Even if it is a little TMI... I'm a 20 year old female. I'm pretty healthy; I try to swim everyday, although I don't get enough sleep as I should. I was diagnosed with hyperthyroid and was put on 100mg Synthroid; I take it in the morning. I've been on it for about two months now. I never forget to take it. Before I was even diagnosed with this thyroid problem I would get boils. I've had them on my armpits/side area and inner thighs. Some of them had to be lanced (Worst pain I've ever felt) and now I have purple scars My inner thighs are becoming a serious problem. I get them more frequently now and they hurt SO bad. They form in clusters, these purple hideous things. I don't know what to do. I use the anti-bacterial soap everyday and put cream on them but nothing works. I was a 'vegetarian' (No red meat) for many years but I recently (5 months ago) added red meat back into my diet because I also have a blood clotting disorder and need the iron. I just moved across the country and I haven't gotten in to see a doctor yet but I'm desperate for any kind of help at all! I just want these things gone for good; they're driving me insane! Help, please?
