My celiac antibody tests have been ordered by doctors in the same Gastroenterology department in the same health system for 12 years. The TTG-IgA test has had three different normal ranges in that time! Original normal range 0-19 units Next normal range 0-3 units New normal range 0.00 to 4.99 FL units The DGP tests have only had two different normal ranges, so for a period of time the TTG and DGP tests had different normal ranges. Original range 0-19 units New normal range 0.00 to 4.99 FL units I don’t know what FL stands for. Perhaps fluorescent, as some tests use a detector that measures fluorescent tags. The units used for celiac antibody tests are not absolute weight per volume units like many blood tests. They are set by each test manufacturer and standardized for their tests, which is fine and normal unless you’re trying to compare results from one time to another! This is why I often respond to posts by asking for the standard ranges of the poster’s test results🙂.

Tissue Transglutaminase IGA range 0-10.9, 7-10u/ml = borderline >10u/ml = positive Result was 11 u/ml IGA normal range (0.80. -2.80) Result was 0.67 g/l Endomysial antibody IGA level Result was positive. So I’m thinking this all seems clear-cut. This is for my 16 year old. Posting with permission. Is there a chance to skip the endoscopy with these results? No gastro symptoms but low iron (not anemia), slightly low vit D. All other vitamins tested within reference range. Also there is a 3 month wait list for appointment. Could we just switch to gluten-free now? Seems a long time to wait & potentially make him more ill, goes right against my parenting instincts. Feeling v anxious about all this so please kind words needed x Thank you 😊

Hi! I have a 2.5 year old who is struggling to gain weight and frequent, loose stools. We went to a specialist and he was tested for celiac disease. His IGG number came back too high so the nurse said the doctor would like to do an endoscopy in a couple of weeks. Would this be the appropriate next step? Is my sons IGG level really high or just slightly? Are the other numbers in the normal range? Should I also request a genetic marker test for celiac? Here are his results below. Serologic evidence for celiac disease is present. tTg may normalize in individuals with celiac disease who maintain a gluten free diet. If high suspicion of celiac disease, consider HLA DQ2 and DQ8 testing to rule out celiac disease. My daughter (now 12) was diagnosed in Jan. 2020 and her tTG IgA was in the high 100s if I recall correctly. After a gluten-free diet for over a year, the number was down to 15. At her next follow up almost 1 1/2 years later, the tTG IgA was higher again, at 38. She has never been symptom free (main complaints are daily nausea, random sharp abdominal pain a few times a day). We are quite strict with diet, do not eat out (other than a couple of times a year at dedicated gluten-free restaurants). She does eat more processed foods (gluten-free pasta, bread, chicken nuggets etc) than is ideal. Our home is gluten-free, she takes lunch from home to school, etc. My question is, is this higher number and her symptoms clearly a result of continued contamination? I've seen members discuss those numbers being high due to other issues, but her GI didn't mention that possibility. I've combed through everything she eats and possible contamination sources and I'm at my wits end trying to figure this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Okay so about 3 years ago I got tested for celiacs disease with a blood test after having all the symptoms. My doctor didn’t understand the results and sent me to a GI doctor for a biopsy. Life happened and I never ended up going to the GI doctor. However, my symptoms have gotten worse and I developed anemia and my routine bloodwork shows malnutrition. I’m getting blood tested again for celiacs in about a week before I go to the GI doc in January. I was wondering if anyone had negative antibody tests but had an IgA deficiency and if that means I could still have it. I’m aware the biopsy is the only way to truly know if you have it. Just stressing out a bit haha. Hello, My 11 year old son recently had bloodwork done as he has had stomach aches and bathroom issues ever since having COVID in December. His celiac panel all came back ok with the exception of the last test. I should know more about this as my 8 year old daughter was diagnosed with celiac when she was 4 but her bloodwork looked completely different. Are there other things that can cause an elevated IgG? He has PANDAS and recently got lyme disease as well. Thanks so much for your help!!! Hi folks, I managed to get an endoscopy (!) in these hard times after some setbacks due to the covid situation. I'm struggling to understand my results. Is there any way to tell if this is "early celiac" or "non-celiac gluten sensitivity"? (I'm ~30 and I got some sort of virus a year ago and was really sick with diarrhea and gastritis, I suspect that whatever I have has its origins there since I had zero problems before that; I'm now finally on a gluten-free diet and it has been working wonders for me.) - endoscopy: mild non-specific inflammation in the small intestine (explanation says it could be NSAIDs, which I don't take, or early celiac), more precisely the summary reads: "duodenal mucosa with a patchy mild surface intraepithelial lymphocytosis, otherwise no significant histopathological abnormality" - IgA: 383 (high) [lab's range: 87-352] - tTG IgA: 3 [where 4-10 is a weak positive] - tTG IgG: 10 [where 6-9 is a weak positive] - EMA: negative - probably relevant to mention: they also found thyroid antibodies (antiTPO, presumably Hashimoto's some day soon) and the diagnosis journey started when I was found to be iron deficient back in July Thanks! I'm really happy to see that there is such a big community of people out there with similar issues.

Hi everyone. I just had a celiac panel done about a week ago. I was eating 2-4 slices of bread or the equivalent every day for about 2 1/2 months. I already know I'm gluten intolerant but my new endocrinologist wanted to test for celiac. I have googled until my eyes fell out of my head looking for something that will help me interpret my results, and everything is either not what I'm looking for or so far over my head that I can't understand it. Anyway, here are my results (from Quest Labs if that helps). I'm worried sick about my high IgA (and there's precious little info about it that isn't technical), so I'm curious about that. I'm also curious about the tTG IgG as it is barely in the range. Can anyone shed some light on this? It's Friday afternoon and my appointment isn't until next week. I'm anxious and hoping someone can help. Thanks!!

I don't know how to interpret these lab results and my doctor isn't available for a few days to call. Anybody know what this means?
