    Thanks for the link! I'll have to try this. And yes, I buy my coconut milk at a little Thai grocer, and it's usually 30 cents to a dollar cheaper per can.

    I had the cough, too. Reflux, even if you don't have heartburn, can cause spasms in your esophagus, which in turn cause you to cough.

    African Americans are not exempt from celiac. Since you're not feeling completely better on the gluen-free diet, you might consider cutting out dairy for a while as well to see if that helps.     My favorite fast(ish) food place is Chipotle. I can eat everything except the flour tortillas there, so it's easy. Qdoba's pretty easy, too, but their guac isn't as good.

    I love the En-er-G ones and the Glutino ones (except multi-grain). Not a fan of Mary's Gone Crackers (tried them two different times, and both times, different flavors, they tasted burnt).

    Is it possible she has hidden gluten in her diet or is getting cross-contaminated? Otherwise, I would think that maybe celiac isn't the only thing going on.

    There's the gene test, which will only tell you if you carry the gene for celiac--it won't tell you if you're genetically predisposed to gluten intolerance w/o official celiac.     This could also be due to another food sensitivity developing. Lately I can tolerate BBQ sauce unless it contains corn syrup (HFCS or regular CS).
