  1. my daughter is a diagnosed celiac. both my husband and myself were tested and were negative. i have all the typical gi symptoms and have started the diet with my dd. i feel MUCH better! my question is can you have a rash that's NOT DH but is still because of gluten? my sis has eczema(pompiholyx) on her hands, she gets these tiny bubbles that eventually...
  2. hi! it sounds to me like they found duodenitis, this means the duodenum is inflamed. sometimes this is just plain ol irritation from GERD, or too many meds like IB profen or motrin. various other irritants. BUT, sometimes its an indication that something else is going on. i was diagnosed with it myself a few years ago after months of trips to the er with...
  3. ravenwoodglass, i guess your right about the dietary response...i've just always been one of those people that wanted something concrete like test results to go on. guess its time to let that go...lol my mother was commenting last night that it would fit that im the one who gave it to my dd because i was a very colicky baby and always had tummy trouble...
  4. i thought that the Delimex Taquitos were ok as long as they were the ones in corn tortillas, obviously.....but after my daughter started complaining of being nauseated i read the box and found out tonight that the beef and cheese kind are not ok. im sure this is old news to most everyone else on here but we are still fairly new to this. it was totally my...
  5. jhow32000, you didn't offend me at all! i like straight forward answers! i DO feel better on the diet, but i find myself saying "oh i can cheat a little, my tests were negative". guess i just need to suck it up and do it! as for my husband, i seriously doubt he will go gluten-free without a diagnosis.....BUT he is amazing where my daughter and i are...
  6. my dd wa diagnosed thru positive blood test, negative biopsy, and positive response to the diet(VERY POSITIVE), about 3 months ago.?? since then my husband and i have both been tested, and both were negative. im on the diet to support my dd and do in fact feel better in regards to my IBS and energy level and mood, my husband is not on the diet. neither of...
  7. Hello to my fellow Texans!! lol After searching high and low at Whole foods, Albertsons, Wal-mart and Kroger....I FINALLY found it tonight at Target!!!!!!! I am in the Arlington/Mansfield area. Seems like it just took while to make it this direction for some reason. My daughter and i ALSO hugged the box!!! I have no shame! lol

  9. i thought so. I've read conflicting reports. my dd has been acting whiny and cranky, and says she's nauseated the past couple of days, i thought maybe it was because she just got a new retainer(following her braces being taken off), but since she started the gluten-free diet she only reacts this way to gluten...not every little stress in life the way she...
  10. are quaker rice cakes ok?
  11. thx nora_n! I've read some stuff that says it can indicate auto immune disorders, and other things that say it doesn't mean anything. so i dunno. they did not run any gliadin tests, i don't know why. he has an appt with his pediatrician on tuesday hopefully we'll know more then.
  12. does anyone have any idea what an ELEVATED total IGA means?? this was the only thing out of range on my 4 year old sons tests. i know all about IgA deficiency, but im dealing with the opposite. should i be concerned????
  13. ok i went and picked up my sons lab results and i had another question: EMA IgA-Negative tTG IgA - 1 (0-3 being negative) IgA serum(total IgA) 113- flagged as HIGH so i know tha low IgA can skew the tests, but i what in the world does a high overall IgA mean?!? if anything?
  14. i am on the diet with my daughter, and my husband is suppose to have his tests done tomorrow, but im trying to convince him to go gluten-free regardless of the results. just as you predicted in one of my other posts Ursa Major, my "IBS" has mysteriously gotten much better on the diet! lol i think im going to have a sit down with the hubby and talk about making...
  15. ursa major, thx for your quick response! if his tests are negative would it be worth it to do a scope? my dd's scope was negative, but the gi doc is so convinced that there's damage somewhere in there she's offered to do the pill cam. anyway, its just going to be much harder to explain to a 4 year old why he cant have the foods he's used to, my daughter...
  16. ok, long story not so short: my daughter was diagnosed about 3 months ago(she's 7) after years of diarrhea, bloating, irritability, over sensitivity, etc. and doing SOOO well now that she's gluten-free! my 4 year old son doesn't have as dramatic symptoms as she does, but we had him tested since he is having some gi symptoms and they were going...
  17. rice guy, thx so much for that link! im going to take some more time to read through everything later when i'm not chasing my 4 year old around the house! lol as far as that being what either of us wants to hear...im totally on board if that ends up being his diagnoses, even if its not i am still urging him to try the diet, he's coming around very slowly...
  18. i was wondering if anyone would be willing to start a list of disorders and issues related to celiac? my dd was dx'd about 3 months ago, figuring she inherited it from somewhere i have been tested(everything was negative but i am gluten-free anyway to support my dd, and it has helped with my "IBS" and fatigue, no surprise there right!), my husband is going...
  19. my daughter, she's 7, is the same way! up until she was diagnosed about three months ago, we thought she was just an over sensitive little girl. she was always crying at the tiniest thing, and moody, often quite irritable or just weepy. it got so bad i truly started to question my ability to be a good parent. literally DAYS into the gluten free diet, she...
  20. Everyone may already know, but i just wanted to spread the word....on friday General Mills announced that Rice Chex cereal will now be GLUTEN FREE!! The statement i read says that it will be made on a dedicated production line, so there should have no cross contamination issues. There will still be some old boxes on shelves with new boxes so be sure to check...
  21. thanks everyone for the replies! i have considered putting him on the gluten-free diet since my daughter and i are on it anyway(i tested negative for celiac, but have been "diagnosed" with IBS and duodenitis and hypothyroidism), but he is a very picky eater and i think i would have a hard time keeping him on it unless i know in my own head its necessary....
  22. hi everyone, my daughter was recently diagnosed, and doing sooo much better! my question today is about my 4 year old son. he's been having green and orange stools, sometimes normal in consistency, sometimes loose but not what i would call diarrhea, and lately some pellet like stool mixed in.....almost always green and orange in color, his appetite...
  23. Ursa Major, thx for the quick reply! i assumed a virus was definitely a possibility, i guess its just throwing me because she had no fever or anything like that, she had frequent bouts of vomiting with no fever etc before we got her diagnosed. gi doc said unexplained episodes of vomiting and diarrhea were most likely related to celiac. im wondering if this...
  24. hey everyone, i think my 8 yr old daughter was glutened. on saturday my husband and i went out for our anniversary so my dd spent the day with my sister. we packed her lots of food, but they did go see high school musical on ice lol, anyway she ate a couple of my sister's nachos(just chips and cheese sauce). which im sure has many things in it that are...
  25. does anyone know if fasting before the celiac blood test will affect the results? im assuming it has no bearing on the results, but thought i ask would to be sure. thanks for any info! ~K
