ARCHIVED Help! Don't Know What To Do Next....
Lori L. replied to vthuskies's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Amy, I know exactly how you feel. My tests for celiac disease came back negative and so did my allergy testing. I don't know if my doctor knew all of the tests to run, but the allergy dr. started me on the gluten free/dairy free diet. Within a day and a half I felt better than I've felt in years. I tested myself with wheat and dairy after being on... -

ARCHIVED Carnival Cruise Excursions?
Lori L. replied to jmreed's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I don't have an answer to your question, but I have a question for you...What did you mean about the ship providing food while on board? Will they cook seperate items for her? I went on a Carnival Cruise last year (before I new I was gluten intollerant) and wondered about it if I get to go again in the future. Thanks! -
ARCHIVED I Have A New School Lunch Idea!
Lori L. replied to Kara'sMom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi, I was reading your post and noticed you use uncured hotdogs and bacon. Are regular ones not gluten-free? I'm still learning! Thanks! -

ARCHIVED Lawry's Season Salt
Lori L. posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm sure someone out there already knows if Lawry's Season Salt is gluten free. According to the label, it looks ok to me, but I've found out that isn't always the case. Please let me know. Thanks! -
I noticed your name "jayhawk mom". I'm from NE Okla/SE Kansas area. Also a jayhawk fan!!

ARCHIVED Kansas City, Anyone?
Lori L. replied to A-Swiss's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Would that put you in the Joplin, MO area?? I'm in the Oswego, Kansas area...anywhere near you? -
Thank you so much. I really enjoy what I do. I've been spending alot of time in the bakery working on my newest competition cake. The competition is the end of September. I'm beginning to wonder about symptoms I'm having and can't pinpoint it to anything I've eaten. So, it makes me think that it could be the flour in the air. I can't give up now - I...

ARCHIVED Why My Husband Is Awesome
Lori L. replied to samcarter's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Isn't it wonderful to have someone who not only believes you, but who will look out for you!! My hubby is wonderful. He travels alot, unfortunately, but when he's home he doesn't mind the grocery shopping or the cooking. When I first started the gluten-free diet (I've only been on it 2 months), he was going to the store and I asked him to pick up some... -
I've been on a gluten free/dairy free diet for 2 months now. I did not have positive blood tests for celiac disease, but responded extremely well to the diet. One problem I have, is that I can eat a huge, well balanced meal, and 30 minutes later I feel like I'm starving...not just hungry - starving! I know I can't be truly hungry again. Anyone else have...

Thank you so much!! I didn't mean to be pushy:) I'll call him tomorrow!!

I'm still looking for a doctor in the tulsa, ok area, kansas or missouri. If anyone has suggestions, thanks!
-
Wow! I didn't understand very much of this, but what I did understand made sense. As far as whether I'm truly gluten intollerant or not, I don't have any proof from tests; my bloodwork was normal. I didn't do the biopsy, but started the gluten free diet and feel MUCH better. If I eat something that is questionable, I can usually tell by how I feel within...

I don't have a website, but you can find some of my competition cakes online by googling my name, Lori Cossou. I've also been on food network, so you might see me there occasionally. (I hope it's okay to put this info out. I'm new to this and don't want to get into trouble!) Thank you for your help and you're interest in my art!

Thank you so much for your advice. And I would love to get some names of doctors in Tulsa. Like I said, the doctors around here don't seem to know much about gluten intolerance. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Sincerely, Lori

Thanks, everyone, for the advice. I'm a sort-of well known sugar artist in my industry and have worked hard for 12 years to get my business to where it is now. I don't think I have the energy to re-vamp the business to that extent. I also doubt that my area would sustain it if I went to gluten free. I'm new at the gluten-free thing and am trying to...

I'm needing to find a doctor - I live in the southeast kansas/northeast oklahoma area. I had made a post asking if it is safe to work in a bakery if I am gluten intollerant or have celiac disease. I would like a doctor's opinion, but the doctors I have been to in this area don't seem to know much about celiac disease. Is there a doctor out there that can...

I believe I am gluten intollerant or I have celiac disease. I have had the bloodwork and allergy testing and all came back negative. The allergist had me start a gluten free/milk free diet. Within a day and a half of starting the diet, I feel better than I have in years. I have also tested the gluten and milk products and was miserable after consuming...
