  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. Welcome! I was told I had "IBS" years before they diagnosed me with celiac disease via biopsy. I've had diarrhea and gas problems since I was a child. Gas, diarrhea, digestive problems, and bowel issues can all be symptoms of celiac disease. It's kind of interesting that your D went away temporarily when you stopped the artificial sweeteners, though...
  3. Hi....just a couple of comments/questions (from someone who has been battling autoimmune hep for at least 2 years now): * When they did your liver biopsy, how many samples did they take? Hopefully at least 3 samples from different areas of the liver, otherwise they could have missed something. * If you tested positive for the AIH antibodies, you should...
  4. Hi, I just asked almost the exact same question as your question #1 about prednisone and azathioprine (Imuran) and got several replies. Check out the topic if you haven't done so already. It seems that prednisone may induce some healing of the villi and make it harder to diagnose celiac disease. I too will be having a biopsy in the near future. Good...
  5. Thanks, happygirl! I knew I forgot to ask the doctor about something important, like how many different spots she typically biopsies. So many details to remember....and my brain is not functioning well these days. rissa
  6. Thanks Nora and Jestgar.....I was going to ask for the reference but JNBunnie1 beat me to it. Is the original citation about prednisone causing villi to regenerate in that book edited by Davison, Humphrey, Liversedge et al. Multiple Sclerosis Research, Elsevier Scientific Publishing New York, 1975? rissa
  7. Thanks! I'm glad that the gluten-free diet is making such a difference for you. That's the kind of story that gives me some hope for myself! My doctor did mention microscopic colitis as one of the things she'd be looking for during the procedures. I'm planning to go ahead and get them done....whatever the outcome. Also, good luck with your biopsy...
  8. Thanks for the reply! That must be nice! Unfortunately my personal time for surfing the web is the weekend...my employers would frown on doing it during working hours! Although lunchtime is always a possibility..... rissa
  9. Thank for the welcome and helpful reply! I did mention my concerns to my doctor but she insists that she wants to do a biopsy regardless of my medications. Hopefully, if I really do have celiac disease, there will be some evidence to be found. Not that I'm looking for one more diagnosis. I think that I have more than enough autoimmune diseases already...
  10. Thanks for the reply, Jestgar. I have been worried about the biopsy results being affected by the prednisone. I just don't want to go through that if there will be nothing to see. So maybe I've been looking for some excuse to cancel the procedure and go gluten-free right away to see if it makes me feel better. As it is, the doctor wants me to stay on gluten...
  11. Thanks Momma Goose. That's not what I was concerned about. Althought I would LOVE for someone to answer my questions (in my other post in the Pre-Diagnosis and Testing section), I wasn't asking about why no one had done so thus far. I just wondered about the counters for "views" of the posts, and why I was able to view several different posts without...
  12. Thanks for the explanation. You're right; I went back and looked at one of the posts I had viewed, and sure enough, now it's showing 20 views instead of 0. rissa
  13. I feel slightly invisible in this forum; whenever I go and view a post, then look to see how many "views" there have been of that post, it never increments. In other words, the fact that I looked at it apparently doesn't count. Is that because I'm new, or is it something else? rissa
  14. I'm new here; I have lots of autoimmune diseases, including autoimmune hepatitis. I'm taking azathioprine and prednisone for the AIH. I have gastrointestinal problems (diarrhea mostly) and have been losing weight for the last 6 months. My doctor recently tested me for celiac disease including DNA typing. All of the blood tests were negative except...
