After 7 years of diarrhea, my daughter was tested through blood work and biopsy for celiac. Both results were negative, but she went gluten-free anyway in Feb. 2010. She improved dramatically and felt she was gluten intolerance. She had been doing great, but diarrhea has returned, somewhat. Could she have become more sensitive? I saw her gastro MD and told... -

Thank you for the advice. I am thinking about going gluten-free too, but I think it will be more gradual for me since my only symptom is constipation. She is living with me so eventually I will totally switch over. With all the info I've read about gluten's bad effects, it seems like it should be illegal! LOL. My 20 year old daughter has had diarrhea and abdominal pain freq. over the past 8 years. Docs said it was IBS. She also developed vitiligo around the time her gi symptoms started. Her blood tests for celiac were negative but doc decided to do endoscopy anyway and the biopsy results were negative for celiac but showed some white blood cells and mild inflammation... -

Hi Lisa, I did have an antitTG test i think that was borderline, 14.3, near the cut off of 15 that is why the doctor did the biopsy. Does this mean i don't have celiac? -

Hi Everybody! I just had a intestinal biopsy which showed "latent celiac disease". The doctor ordered more blood work to test for the genetic marker and nutritional deficiences before she recommends a gluten free diet. I'm confused. If the genetic test is positive and there are no nutritional deficiences, should i go gluten free anyway? I guess gluten can...
