  1. We got back from Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky, OH yesterday. We had made our reservations the day we were to arrive at the park. I called and spoke to Kathy about my gluten free options. She told me there would be plenty of options for me for breakfast, lunch and dinner. She told me to ask for chef Matt when we checked in. Matt wasn't available when...
  2. oh dear~I just realized that I spelled Pizza Planet wrong...If you're printing this, you might want to make the adjustment. I just wish all these restaurants would start using good-tasting flour like Jules' flour...I just got a request for a survey in the mail from our trip. Maybe I'll make that suggestion. I'm so used to not being limited in any recipes...
  3. We just got back from the The World yesterday (and, yes we're going through the Disney withdrawal). Since being diagnosed with celiac, we've been there two times and just recently became DVC members. We were very nervous about me not finding anything to eat, but we'd heard that Disney was the best place for celiacs to go on vacation and being that my husband...
  4. I'm not going to be much help here, unfortunately. In fact I avoided work today because I knew our managers were serving lunch to everyone and I didn't want to stand out. I normally work at home every other day and today was my day to be home anyway, so I lucked out there. Sounds like you don't have much of a choice, though, huh? Is there any way you can...
  5. Yep, I get it! It's only been a few months for me. When I tried to explain this to some very close friends, they say exactly that "oh, it's just like being a diabetic!" I just wanted to scream! It is absolutely NOTHING like being a diabetic. I tried explaining, and now one of those friends and I just don't talk much. The others tell me that they think...
  6. hmmmm, I've had migraines for many years. I wonder if going gluten free will help those too. Oh~That would be awesome!
  7. So, does the amount I eat have anything to do with the amount of damage that's being done? I feel that because I don't have the real bad symptoms I could be damaging them and not even realizing it :-(
  8. Ok...I was diagnosed with Celiac in October. Now, I don't get severely sick with diarrhea and stomach cramps that kill me all the time. I'm wondering that since I don't feel THAT sick, do I really need to worry so much about contamination or accidentally getting a little bit of gluten if I can put up with the excess gas & bloating for a little while...
  9. Tostitos....
  10. Pizza Hut Pizza Bob's Sub from Slippery Rock, PA Garlic bread and lasagna I'm not crying too loudly, though because my husband is making me steak on the grill with a grilled yam for dinner :-D
  11. OH, that sounds similar to the lettuce wraps at my new favorite gluten-free restaurant, PF Changs ;-) I will definitely try making lettuce wraps using the ingredients you mentioned too! Thanks for the advice :-)
  12. well...I eat it...I'm not entirely sure if it's ok for me or not. lol I still have some gas pains occasionally, but not nearly as bad as before. I contribute that to the fact that I still have some time for my insides to heal...I'm hoping this is the right choice. Refried beans sounds like something healthy to add to them, though. I never tried (or heard...
  13. Well, since I've discovered nachos with tomatoes, cheddar cheese, hot sauce and sour cream is gluten free, they've become my favorite late night comfort food!! Problem is...I've been craving them and eating them nearly every night since...I'm sure it's not helping me lose those last 10-15 lbs, but it's one way I deal...
  14. Lawrence County here. Right on the border of Beaver and Lawrence. Originally from Butler County and work in Mercer County. Plan on attending and very much looking forward to the support meetings in Butler when they start back up. I'm finding all the information and unfortunately, misinformation to be mind boggling and would love to talk to people who...
  15. Thanks to all of you. I was really beginning to feel paranoid until I read these responses today. I got some inaccurate info from the book I was referring to and some other stuff I saw online. It' scary how much research we're left to do on our own and when we're newly diagnosed and reading inaccurate information no wonder there's so much confusion. ...
  16. yes, that's the one! Is that why I'm goin crazy? Lol
  17. I've seen that on here too,but according to the Gluten-Free Diet book, tocopheryl acetate is listed as an ingredient that could indicate the presence of gluten and my bote of Dawn includes that ingredient. I don't get "sick" b/c of gluten contamination . I'm just worried about the damage that's being done to my body as a result of it. So, if I don't get...
  18. I've been doing a ton of reading lately on the topic of Celiac Disease. I'm finding that not only do I need to watch what I eat, but is it true that I have to watch what I wash myself and my dishes as well? From "The Gluten-Free Diet" book I'm reading that I need to watch for certain other ingredients used in things that aren't foods...tocopheryl acetate...
