  1. Thanks, Mushroom! You've been a huge help already, as well as a comfort. Yes, I have been a very avid lable reader for many years. I also research everything thoroughly on the Internet and in books. There just seems so much to research all at once now, so it's extremely overwhelming. What do you use for hair products? Do you have to research every single...
  2. Bubba's mom, thank you so much for the encouragement and the hugs. SOOOO appreciated!!!! Thank you for the tips. Will do the Google search -- thank you!
  3. Thank you, Mushroom. I've never been a pancake person -- I've always loved french toast. I am excited to check out the websites. Thank you very much! Oh -- I've tasted Daiya cheese -- I can have goat dairy in moderation -- it was a low intolerance (had close to 50 low intolerances, so don't have to give up any of them, otherwise my doctor said...
  4. Thank you, Mushroom. Pollyanna is one of my favorite movies! I just showed it to the 5-yr-old I take care of last week. Chex cereal is not an option for me because it is not organic. Don't want to risk any GMOs. I don't think that would facilitate healing for me. I like coconut ice cream as a once-in-a-while treat, but Whole Foods discontinued...
  5. Notme, thank you for the tips and encuragement! I don't think I am going trough any type of withdrawl -- the symptoms you describe I have all the time. My hot flashses and night sweats aren't from gluten, just old-fashioned menopause. Unfortunately I can't have Udis bread because it has egg. Haven't found much "grab and go" stuff I can have. I...
  6. I do need a hug, MeToo -- thank you!!! I can't have almonds anymore but I've been using rice milk for years and love it. Thank you so much for the hug and the encouragement!!! So appreciated!!!
  7. Thank you, Mushroom! Yes, that is the first thing I told myself -- that I wasn't going to think about what I can't have but instead focus on what I can have, and I made a list. Then I threw out, or bagged to donate to food pantry, everything I can no longer have. Then I went to Whole Foods and had a mini-meltdown, which I didn't anticipate. Then I went...
  8. Hi everyone -- I'm new here, practicaly speaking. I joined here 2 years ago when my brother was diagnosed with celiac. I was trying to find out what sort of testing I needed. But I didn't have a doctor, money, or insurance, so I put the testing off. Last month when I was in for another bacterial infection my optometrist told me she wanted me to go off gluten...
  9. Praise God! I'm thankful everything went well. Yes, God is good! Blessings, Elizabeth
  10. I am praying for you, Bev. God is good and I am asking Him to give you peace and your doctors wisdom and to work all things out for His glory. Blessing in Christ Jesus, Elizabeth
  11. Thank you so much, everyone! You have all helped to give me a much better understanding of everything and I am much appreciative!
  12. My understanding from the reading I've done is that it's gluten in your instestinal tract that causes problems. Why are some people saying skin contact can cause problems? I haven't read that. That makes the whole thing even more overwhelming and seem like there is really no possiblity of avoiding all gluten. How can anyone live their life without constant...
  13. Many years ago I started seeing a Naturopath and he told me to take Jamaican Dogwood and Cramp Bark tinctures for menstrual cramps because Tylenol and Midol didn't help and I was taking way too much Advil. These two herbs are for smooth muscle contractions, which menstrual cramps are, and they work wonderfully! Have been using them for about 19 years now...
  14. I'm careful about produce coatings, and those grown with straw. What produce is grown with straw?
  15. and cc was glutening me, Sorry, I'm not catching on -- what is cc?
  16. I've been reading in lots of places that people who are celiac/gluten intolerant need to stay away from things like shampoo, self-adhesive envelopes and stickers, and various other things that you obviously don't eat. I'm not understanding why a gluten-free "diet" also includes things that re not edible. Does anybody know? I can't seem to find an answer...
  17. Wonderful -- thank you!
  18. Why are the boxes by some questons green while others are blue? Why is there a light blue box and a pencil by my post but not by anyone elses?
  19. Thank you for the information. I will look for a doctor.
  20. My brother was diagnosed with celiac in January during his routine yearly physical, after some blood counts came back low. He wasn't aware there was anything wrong. I've read that celiac sometimes manifests after a high-stress trigger, which for him was probably the sudden death of our mother in September. He already has osteoporosis and some other things...
