ARCHIVED Perfume
Becksabec replied to Becksabec's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I can't find one either. I tried doing a web search and also checked the websites for all of the stories that carry it. The bottle I have doesn't list any ingredients. -
ARCHIVED Lush Products
Becksabec posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I e-mailed Lush about their products, and I received a reply in 30 minutes. The reply is below, in case its useful to anyone else ... -
I read somewhere that there are some perfumes that are not gluten-free, but I can't seem to find them. Does anyone have any insight? I'm in the process of emailing the companies of the ones that I use, but so far, no luck. The main perfume I use is Juicy Couture, and I did e-mail them. They responded saying that they don't have that information available...

ARCHIVED Muffin Or Bread Recipes?
Becksabec replied to Becksabec's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I don't have any actual mixes, just bags of the different flours. I'm sure I could probably find a recipe for a mix though. -
I'm running low on stuff to eat breakfast, and as its finals week, I thought it would be a good idea to make a batch of muffins or some sort of breakfast bread. Does anyone have recipes to share? I have most of the common gluten-free flours and such, so having to go out and buy a bunch of ingredients shouldn't be an issue.

ARCHIVED Cold Medicine?
Becksabec posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I woke up this morning with the beginnings of a cold (figures the week of finals, eh?) and I'm wondering what cold medicines are gluten-free. I'm hoping I can take something liquid (Theraflu or dayquil) since my throat is feeling kind of closed up. -
ARCHIVED Did You Have A Trigger That Started Your Symptoms?
Becksabec replied to afreeclimber74's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
About the age of 20, I started having a lot of stomach issues. They did all these tests on me, and couldn't find anything, and I ended up being diagnosed with a bunch of different disorders based on symptoms alone (IBS, GERD, gastritis, etc). Of course, the treatments for those things didn't really help. It wasn't long after that when I started having... -
ARCHIVED Are Silk Products Cf/gluten-free?
Becksabec replied to Becksabec's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ok thanks. It has been midly upsetting my stomach lately also. I'll just switch to something on the safe list then. -
ARCHIVED Trader Joe's gluten-free Pasta
Becksabec replied to Becksabec's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That's great to hear! I haven't been eating pasta much because it's so pricey, and this is definitely more friendly on my budget. -
Has anyone run into issues dating? I really hate it because guys will ask me out to dinner, and usually they have a certain place in mind. And then I have to be like, I'll have to research it or call and see, or I can go to Place A, B or C. Sometimes, I feel like I'm annoying to the person I'm with when I have to ask what's in everything, or ask that...

ARCHIVED Trader Joe's gluten-free Pasta
Becksabec posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Has anyone tried this? My roommate picked up a package for me. She was grocery shopping and came across it, noticed that it's much cheaper than the stuff I normally buy. It was only $1.99, compared to the almost $4 I normally pay at Whole Foods for pasta. -
Oh yeah, I've actually had fun trying to discover all the possible substitutes. I do buy some of the alternative products, and I've done a lot of experimenting with baking. Actually, I think it was the baking that kept me sane in the beginning.

ARCHIVED Corn Tortillas?
Becksabec replied to G-freegal12's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I love, tortillas, too! I get the Enjoy Life Brown Rice Tortillas. They aren't made out of corn, but rather, brown rice but they're yummy and I've never had a problem with them - and I'm very sensitive to CC. -
ARCHIVED Do You Feel More Mentally Healthy After Going gluten-free?
Becksabec replied to TotalKnowledge's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have a long history of depression, but I've been able to manage it the last couple of years. I still struggle from small bouts of it, and also low self-esteem. After going gluten-free, my friends have actually made comments about how my mood and general outlook has improved. In fact, that's usually the first way to tell that I've been glutened - my... -
I was only diagnosed a couple months ago, and in the beginning, I found myself kind of depressed about being on the gluten-free diet. I missed being able to eat whatever I wanted, and it was even worse when I saw my friends and family eat things I couldn't have, in front of me. But now, I feel like I don't even miss it. I was the grocery store with...

ARCHIVED College Search...
Becksabec replied to celiacprincess17's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Yeah, it just depends. Honestly, I would call residence life for the colleges you're considering and find out. Some types of dorms require the meal plan. My school said they couldn't guarantee there wouldn't be any CC, but another college could be more helpful in that aspect. Also, I think most colleges now have options that they don't require it. I... -
ARCHIVED College Search...
Becksabec replied to celiacprincess17's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
One thing to keep in mind .... The micro-fridges are normally in the suite-style dorms, where the meal plan is required. I was told that even with documented celiac, they couldn't make an exception. They put me in an apartment-style dorm where there is a full kitchen and i can just make my own food. -
ARCHIVED Doctor Says I Can Have Dairy Again, But A More Strict Diet
Becksabec replied to Becksabec's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think that's what he meant by bland, I think at least. He mentioned no more coffee, and to eat more foods that will be easier on my digestive system. -
ARCHIVED Only Celiac In The Family
Becksabec replied to Becksabec's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
No one in my family has been tested, no, but everyone is in very good health. -
ARCHIVED Laura Mercier
Becksabec posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I used Laura Mercier foundation pre-diagnosis, so I thought I'd call and find out if it's still safe to use. I was told that the only products with a risk are in the anti-aging skincare line. The woman I talked to said that the regular skincare products are produced in the same area as the anti-aging line, so there is a CC risk - but that the makeup items... -
ARCHIVED Dedicated gluten-free Brands?

Thanks again everyone! -
ARCHIVED Betty Crocker
Becksabec replied to Becksabec's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That was definitely the case for me. I thought they tasted like normal brownies, and my roommate also really liked them! I think I will definitely be buying them again, and I'd really like to try the cookies. -
I'm the only known celiac in my family, and I'm wondering if that's the case with anyone else. I've read a lot of about multiple people in the same family with it, and getting tested if someone in your family has it - but I seem to be the only one.

ARCHIVED Betty Crocker
Becksabec posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Has anyone tried any of the Betty Crocker Gluten-free mixes? They say on the box that they are made in a gluten-free facility. I have a batch of the brownies in the oven, and I'm eager to try them. -
ARCHIVED Dedicated gluten-free Brands?
Becksabec replied to Becksabec's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks, I will check out those brands. I've used Udi in the past, with no problems. However, I just moved to a new city and the Whole Foods here doesn't carry it for some reason. I have used some products from Whole Foods gluten-free bakery, so I'll have to see what else they have to offer.
