  1. lol Will do! I feel like I've had nearly every test under the sun done in the past 6 years! I've been medication free for the past 6-8 months now. Kind of bummed out that I may have to go on a ton of medications.
  2. The test is next week so I'll ask which one they are doing. Thank you. Yup, considered other intolerances. Went to an allergist, kept a food journal, etc. Have also been to two endocrinologists, internal medicine doctor, acupuncturist, cardiologist (today), family doctors etc. Got tested for Cushings too and though I have all the symptoms, ends up I dont...
  3. I keep reading that a lot of people had a diagnosis of Lupus and then later in life got a diagnosis of celiac. I've been gluten free for about a year now and have still am having problems. The doctors are now thinking that I may have Lupus too. Any get a diagnosis of Celiac and THEN lupis?
  4. I'm usually ok these days but had had food poisioning a couple of weeks ago that put some stress on my system. It was the tiredness, rash, hives etc that made me think gulten before. But maybe the sheets on the bed or someone else had come into contact. I guess there is no way to know but if I ever have a CT scan again I know to let them know that I felt...
  5. Unfortunately we didnt notice the hives until the doctor on the floor was gone from doing his rounds and were only able to discuss it with the nurse. She wasnt sure what was going on. They've since gone down. The just did a quick heart test before the CT for some reason. I dont think they did a nuclear medicine stress test. I've been slowly gaining weight...
  6. Thank you Roda. They didnt have me drink anything. They hooked me up to an IV and had me fast for quite a few hours. Then they took me to have my heart checked, then a chest x-ray and then to the CT. They injected the liquid into my arm and then felt all warm for a moment. All normal. The only other things they did that day were took blood, blood pressure...
  7. I'm really at a loss then. I keep racking my brain but I can't think of what else it may have been. There was the CT scan, some other scans without any injection, blood tests, blood sugar tests, iv saline solution...All should be ok. What am I missing? Maybe the bedding?
  8. I had to spend a couple of days in the hospital. I brought in my own food but seem to have gotten badly glutenated somehow. I havent been this bad since diagnosis! I had to have a CT scan with injected contrast. I asked the nurse what the ingredients are but she couldnt find out. I know gluten can sometimes be in the oral kind but what about the injected...
  9. I think you're right about the insulin resistance My symptoms (weight gain around stomach area, boarderline high blood pressure, water retention etc) plus the pre-existing blood sugar problems(reactive hypoglycemia) seem to point to it. Actually, when I got really sick with the celiac disease I stopped digesting food nearly completely (came out the...
  10. Maile, what is if in the test results that makes you think that I could be anemic? The doctors who looked at the results said I wasnt. And all the things that are a bit high or low they said were not of any significant value. I'm checking out that site you sent. Looks like the slightly off levels may be due to malabsorbtion and/or blood sugar issues....
  11. So, still retaining water I've now seen a private practice family doctor, endocrinologist, gynocologist, and acupuncturist as well has had those specialists consult with 2 different internal medicine doctors. All test so far have turned out normal and I've gotten the responses: - It's just the way you are - It's your celiac disease (no suggestion...
  12. IrishHeart really said it all but, I remember gluten free pancakes from about 10 years ago. My mom sent me a box and it weighed a ton! Then we made it up...you needed a cup and a half of oil to make one batch!!! lol Prepackaged gluten free foods have come a long way but even better is the availability of a variety of flours. There are plenty of places that...
  13. Hi! Apparently the protine levels in my blood are fine and my protine levels in general are fine...which actually suprised me because I should eat more protine and I know it! I already eat a lot of foods with probiotics and a suppliment. It's been about 4 months since I've been 100% gluten free. Part of the problem is I'm not sure how long this has been going...
  14. Test results came back today and apparently everything is normal (It's always normal ). Everything that was a bit below or above apparently wasn't enough to be significant. Doctors are now thinking that maybe it's my birth control pill (been on the same one for years) and going to see a gynocologist this week. Test results (taking Laxis a diuretic...
  15. I found going cold turkey was the best for me. I had terrible cravings at first but I think it would have been prolonged if I had slowly weaned myself off. A lot of us are in a similar situation to you. Before my celiac diagnosis I didn't eat meat (I dont digest animal protine well and I dont like the taste), and couldn't eat shrimp, msg, artificial sweeteners...
  16. How much gluten was he having before the test? I believe repair can start resulting in results which appear to be damage but not enough for a diagnosis of Celiac
  17. What reason did the doctor give that it wasnt Celiac disease?
  18. Well, I've been gluten free for 3 or 4 months now. Not sure if this problem was present before or not though. I had a billion other things I was trying to sort out. I've had thyriod problem like symptoms for years but every test has been negative (I dont know what tests they have run). I hear that water retention can be due to protine absorbtion problems...
  19. I don't know how long it's been going on for but I noticed about 2 weeks ago that I'm retaining water. When you press down on my legs I get indentations that take a long time to go away. I went to the doctor and he tested some protine level, electrolite levels and something else. Everything came back as normal. He has me on diuretics for the next 2 months...
  20. Just an update, seems like the problem might be mushrooms of all things! I had 2 fairly bad reactions this past week and the common thing both times were mushrooms. We thought back at the last couple of times I've had bad heartburn, difficulty swallowing, upset stomach and it looks like a pattern might be forming. We eat fair amount of mushrooms and if I...
  21. As far as I can tell soy isn't causing a problem. It's so hard to tell though if there isnt a big difference isnt it? I know I just cant handle alchole right now and other than ginger ale pop isnt my friend either. I'm planning on buying a multivitamin from Lame Advertisement.com in the next couple of days...I'll have to check if it has vitamin C.
  22. Hi ravenwoodglass! I saw that article too! To be honest though, I really dont think I ever had asthma. 11 of my students and my husband had N1H1 virus and we had black mold on all of the walls in our appartment when I first had breathing problems. When we left the country on vacation, no breathing problems. The doctor said that this was because the medication...
  23. Urg, this is so frustrating. I didn't think of this before but in October 2009 I got really sick. I couldn't breath. I thought it was the N1H1 virus (11 of my students had it at that time) and the mold problem we had in our appartment. Though the doctor didn't test me he said that I was wrong because I didn't have a fever and that I had asthma. He put me...
  24. Hopefully! I've had a chest infection now for almost 10 days. Before going gluten free I actually didn't get sick (gluten related sick yes) too often but in the last 2 months I've had two major viral infections. Could it possibly be like a detox sort of thing? You know like when your body gets rid of a poison like drugs, your immune system goes down as it...
  25. Weight gain(check!) bad skin (check!), rash (check!), massive hair loss (check!)...Thank god for makeup and a wide variety of scarves and ribbons I could wear in my hair. My students think I'm pretty and trendy because of it instead of insane! But after 3 months I was stopped in the office the other day by my old boss. He wanted to know if I had been exercising...
