About Me

Hello,

My name is Danica its pronounced like DanEka (NOT like the race car driver). I was diagnosed with osteopenia when I was 13, my doctor said that even though it was rare that I had fractured hip at a young age it was due to my inhaler that I was taking for sports induced asthma. My freshman year of high school at basketball state is when I first remember my bloating, unbearable stomach pain, feeling like I was starving, and the lovely bloody "stool" started. Throughout my high school career on top of having to try and handle the teenage drama I was also dealing with debilitating pain that I had no reason for, the bloody stool continued and I just chalked it up to a poor immune system. On top of the regular teenage awkwardness I was also dealing with a very bloated tummy that made me look like one of the starving babies from a third world country a I still had no explanation. By my senior year I had pneumonia three times and strep throat ten times. The summer between graduating and starting college I experienced the worst pain I have ever had, I thought I was bleeding out. I couldn't stop the bleeding or the pain there was no diarrhea so to speak it was all blood. That was when I got the ball rolling, I have been tested for parasites, std's, and all other "deadly" diseases. This year in 2010 I met the man who saved my life. My gastroenterologist did a blood test and the panel came back positive, we wanted a lower biopsy just to be sure and he found nothing, so we did an upper biopsy and found it. I have Celiac and it has been hell I have been through more than I can even type about just like all the other Celiac sufferers out there. I was diagnosed this year in August 2010. I have little support in my small town other than my family no one knows what "gluten" is. My body is still trying to heal, my body is still very sensitive to a lot of foods and products, I am open to any advice and help anyone has to offer. I hope to chat with you all!

  1. Is there anything close to being as good as cheese-its?

  2. Im a newbie! feel free to add me im not sure how this all works but i am looking for some advice and lots of help on this new road of gluten freeness.
