Brittany85 replied to Brittany85's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Wow! I have so much to learn. I'm going to meet with my doc and get her to expand my labs to get more answers. I will take notes of this thread and use it to find out more. Thank you all so very much for your help. You're fantastic!! -
ARCHIVED Test Results
Brittany85 replied to Brittany85's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ah, bummer. I asked specifically for a Celiac Panel, hoping that it would encompass all of those. I'll take that list with me when I meet with my dr. Thank you! -

ARCHIVED Question About Gluten Challenge
Brittany85 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I've been on a gluten challenge for almost a month in preparation for testing and at first it was unbearable. Almost constant migraines, nausea, fatigue, dizziness, etc. Now, it's eased off quite a bit. Fewer migraines, not a lot of nausea, hardly any evidence of INTENSE glutening like I was experiencing before. I still have fatigue, back to being constipated... -
Yes, I believe it's just something I have to get used to. Actually, I've found that since making a conscious effort to stay away from gluten, I've gotten the hang of it and now have to figure out how to eat gluten every day. I know it's not the end of the world. I know I'll be fine gluten-free. I'm much more inclined to eat whole foods when gluten-free anyway...

ARCHIVED Decided I Want To Be Tested For celiac disease
Brittany85 replied to Brittany85's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, she was diagnosed. She's helping me through this. It's been two whole days of being back on gluten and I feel just like I did before: aweful. I'm really trying to make the rash flare up to shorten this ordeal. It's never gotten really bad, though. Hmmm.... -
Thanks. It's just nice to be around others who are going through this. I'm on the gluten challenge- eating a big bowl of pasta right now. I'm using this time as a "last hurrah" for the gluten foods that I love.

Great information! Thank you! Is there a certain form of gluten that is the most effective in this challenge? -
ARCHIVED Reality Check
Brittany85 replied to SolveigB's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm certainly no expert, but that definitely doesn't sound normal to me. I've read that celiac tests can show false negatives. Did she have an endoscopy? -
ARCHIVED Constantly Hungry- Never Full
Brittany85 replied to Xhale1227's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I felt that way too when I went gluten-free. I think it has something to do with malabsorption. I'd suggest eating small meals and snacks frequently with lots of protein. I think this is part of the detox process and I'm sure it will get better. -
ARCHIVED Decided I Want To Be Tested For celiac disease
Brittany85 replied to Brittany85's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Fatigue, constant constipation with occasional diarrhea, moodiness; spells (what I now recognize to be glutenization) of cold sweats, dizziness, nausea, rapid heartrate. Also bloating, stomach aches, and a rash on my arms that started to clear up after quitting gluten. -
ARCHIVED Decided I Want To Be Tested For celiac disease
Brittany85 replied to Brittany85's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you for your reply. I just want to know what I'm dealing with, that's why I want to be tested. I wonder if the symptoms will be different than what I was dealing with before changing my diet... I'll continue doing research. Thank you very much. I have so much to learn. -
ARCHIVED Tremors When Glutoned......
Brittany85 replied to Macbre's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I experience the tremors, rapid heartrate, along with sweating, weakness, dizziness when I'm glutened. I haven't been tested yet, FYI. Does this happen with CC or direct gluten consumption? -
I have come to the conclusion that I do want to be tested so that I know exactly what I'm dealing with. I just posted a question about how to do that in the Pre-testing board. I don't know if I have become more sensitive to gluten since changing my diet or it's just that I'm more aware of it, but I've gone back to gluten a bit (in preparation for testing...

ARCHIVED Decided I Want To Be Tested For celiac disease
Brittany85 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I've attempted to be gluten free for almost a month and I know I have to be on full gluten for a certain amount of time for testing. I'm going to schedule an appt with my midwife for testing (just because I have a good relationship with her, my primary moved recently, and she offers lab stuff). So my questions are: What do I need to do to prepare for testing... -
Okay, I suppose it's more realistic to say 17 days of attempting to be gluten-free. I have been careful about everything that I eat. The slip ups have been pretty deliberate. I have found comfort in fresh foods like the fresh pico de gallo and guacamole I made this morning, sweet potatoes, baked potatoes, simple salads, etc. I'm also undiagnosed. My mother...

Today is day 17 for me and two days ago I was getting ready for a dinner out at a Chinese restaurant where I knew I would probably not be able to eat anything so gave in and ate my favorite chips- Barbeque Baked Lay's. The ingredients lists wheat as a flavoring and I ate it anyway. I knew I would probably suffer the consequences in some way. To my surprise...

ARCHIVED Gluten Detox
Brittany85 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've only been gluten-free for 11 days and I know it takes some time to fully detox from gluten, but does anyone know of a way to assist with the detox? I'm being diligent about my diet, so that's not an issue. I am excited to feel really healthy once it's "flushed." -
ARCHIVED Mom Has celiac disease. I Suspect I Do Too
Brittany85 replied to Brittany85's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you for your reply and for sharing your experience. The more I contemplate it, the more I feel better about living a gluten-free lifestyle without seeking testing. Now, I'm wondering if I should start cooking gluten-free for my family as well... I guess 1985 was a good year for Brittanys! lol -
ARCHIVED Mom Has celiac disease. I Suspect I Do Too
Brittany85 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm 26, married, with 3 kids. My mom was diagnosed with celiac disease last year and I suspect I may have it too. I've always had gastrointestinal problems and in the past year, I've been feeling increasingly unwell. I'm so fatigued and I've been experiencing spells in which I feel faint, have a rapid heartrate, sweating, nausea, etc. Recently, I began to...
