In 1997, I had my entire large intestine removed (abdominal colectomy). My small intestine was just fine, so the surgeon just shortened my intestinal tract, without having to have a colostomy. This was a definite life-saver!! Now, finding out the celiac diagnosis, I am a little confused and slightly frustrated in the change (AGAIN!!) in my bathroom habits...
