  1. I don't have one, the one I was seeing when I was diagnosed is completely Celiac illiterate and a complete idiot besides. I did see one to actually go through all my test results that the first GI didn't explain and he ran some vitamin labs, ran an update on my antibody levels and a referral to PT, I only seen him once. I have no one to follow up with. Actually...
  2. I didn't have obvious symptoms of celiac either, I found it trying to rule things out for what ended up being muscle tension. My mom only found hers because I made her get tested when they found mine, and my grandma's only symptom was anemia. Our bodies are definitely good at coping. Thanks for the list!
  3. First a background... my grandma, my mom and I all have Celiac, some of my cousins have children with Celiac also, but so do their non blood spouses and no one else will get tested. Anyway... I have a little girl who just turned 3 last month and has had chronic diarrhea for awhile (year +), never poops solid and complains daily of tummy aches, I had her tested...
  4. Just an update.... had my EGD and colonoscopy yesterday. I don't have any non-celiac health issues, yay .. and like I suspected I don't have constipation or impaction troubles either. So thankfully they will quit trying to shove laxatives down my throat, hopefully. So far all I know is I have "mild scalloping", but I was half asleep when they were talking...
  5. I contacted her today about the biopsy and she assured me they will take adequate number of biopsies along with complimenting me on my knowledge on the subject... so now I wait, again, lol.
  6. I have to have a colonoscopy anyway... which I'm hoping all those issues are just constipation but I need to rule out anything serious... so adding the EGD isn't a big deal since I will be there anyway. I was scratching my head too when she said slightly elevated when the control was 0-19.5 in addition to my grandma having confirmed Celiac.... however, I...
  7. She seemed like the type to not assume without all the information on the plate. I do find it a little concerning that she kept saying "rule it out" though, I had several other labs to rule out other things and the celiac was all that came back abnormal. The internal medicine doctor who ran the labs seemed to have no doubt it was celiac. I also worry the...
  8. I met with the GI today and she asked if anyone had talked to me about my lab results and I told her the nurse said they showed positive for celiac. The GI responded with, "they're not positive, just slightly elevated and we need to do an EGD to rule it out". Sooooo.. if she wants to "rule it out". What else would create these lab results if its not Celiac...
  9. Good to know, and I love nuts .
  10. Ugh.. I hope this doesn't last months, its been close to 2 months of this now and I don't know how much longer I can deal before I go crazy, lol. I feel pretty good upon waking in the morning, but as the day goes on, I feel like yuck.
  11. So lately I have a lot of pressure in my lower belly around my back, which I'm going to assume is gas. It's really nagging, relentless, weird feeling and sometimes feels like I have a stomach bug and need to go but can't. Driving me insane from discomfort, but not pain. From your personal experience does gas usually go away as soon as you start the gluten...
  12. I love cheese too... It may or may not be the reason behind what sent me to the ER... that is assuming some of my problems are just constipation. I was on a nacho spree leading up to that visit, lol. I just ordered a book called the "Paleo Approach: Reverse Autoimmune Disease and Heal Your Body" and the "Paleo Approach" cookbook.. I have been following her...
  13. I was working towards converting to paleo for the last year... slow process because there's a lot of foods I wasn't willing to give up yet... like dairy and nachos . Anyway, the kids started school and everyone was being so rude with my paleo choice, I started consuming grains again... including wheat, many pizza nights since my kids are in sports. Ended...
  14. Thank you, I hope so too! They told me it could be combined, but both procedures take 30 minutes and depending on their scheduling may have to reschedule to allot for the extra time of both.
  15. I've been on my mom every day since my lab came back. Part of her hold up is she wants to keep donating plasma and she's afraid if she is diagnosed with Celiac, no more plasma. However, if her protein is low because of Celiac, she will probably keep getting deferred anyway. Anyone know if there is any reason those with controlled Celiac can't donate...
  16. My cousin married a girl who ended up having celiac, I suppose it was his genes and her genes that gave 2 of their daughters celiac as well. I'm learning its more common than I ever imagined. I suppose the ball and spasms on my right side may be completely unrelated to GI, but with the way I have been feeling in that area, I don't quickly brush it off...
  17. I'm not actually constipated, I go regularly, like clockwork actually. The lactulose put my digestive track in serious overdrive and made me feel worse. My problem is I FEEL like I need to go when I actually don't?... weird rectal sensations maybe? Sigmoid colon? It feels like I have a ball on my lower right side and it twitches like a muscle spasm periodically...
  18. I've thought about that... but here's my hang up. I went in originally for colorectal issues (hence the repeated diagnosis of constipation), and I'm not sure that it's Celiac related. I kind of think the doctor had tested me for Celiac to rule it out but really didn't expect it to be positive, the colonoscopy was scheduled to look for colon/rectal inflammation...
  19. I sent an email to the doctor to ask what the heck is going on.. hopefully, I will get somewhere.
  20. I was just reading the reviews on Bob's Red Mill Pizza mix the other day... I was apparently worried about pizza, and I don't even eat it that often, lol. I'm about ready to give up on my medical team.... Last Thursday, my nurse told me they'd be calling to schedule and endoscopy... well, now its Monday and still nothing. So I called, and my doctor...
  21. I'm not a fan of beer... but I had a caramel roll and a sugar cookie.... and pizza... I'm really going to miss real pizza.
  22. Thank you for the responses. I was also thinking the wait for endoscopy would be a good way to say goodbye to some of my favorite foods.... but putting it in perspective has been a challenge as I pity myself over the loss. As sad as that sounds. So for this test to come out accurate, I need to eat gluten daily until test day?
  23. Hi I just had labwork come back positive for celiac and am currently waiting for someone to call to schedule my endoscopy. I haven't been feeling well for awhile and things got bad about 6 weeks ago, I have been trying to find out what is wrong with me for the last month. After being repeatedly treated for constipation, a doctor finally ran celiac labs...
