  1. You can order Culturelle online if you just do a search. I order it online b/c they have two formulations--one with gelatin caps and one with microcellulose, and if I take too many gelatin capsules they make me sick. I've never seen Culturelle at a health food store, but I hear they carry them at Walgreens. Culturelle and VSL3 are the only probiotics...
  2. I also look young for my age. I'm 27, but I look about 20.
  3. Coffee is a very inflammatory food. It's not recommended for people with bladder or stomach irritation, so maybe the cappuccino just really irritated your already irritated system. Also, it sounds like you could have an eosinophilic allergic disease of the digestive tract that is aggravated by food and/or environmental allergens. Have you done allergy...
  4. I think that all Caucasians can get it, and there are definitely Caucasian genes in South Asia. Maybe other people groups also have susceptible genes, too, but don't typically eat enough gluten for researchers to know it. Since your family doesn't seem to have a strong predisposition to the disorder, I'm wondering if there is any event that triggered this...
  5. Good post. People have a right to vent without being judged. Everybody gets angry and frustrated sometimes, and we don't need to be lectured for the occasional emotional rant. Most of us have had both good and bad experiences with doctors. It's really disheartening to have those bad experiences because we go in with expectations. We expect doctors to...
  6. Hey, Stupor-Man, you and I are very similar ethnic mixes. British mix on dad's side, Hungarian and Polish Jewish maternal grandmother, and British/Scandinavian maternal grandfather.
  7. It's a class of antibiotics. I took cipro with no problem, but then with avelox I was disabled for a couple of months. Still have mild lasting effects 5 months later. This reaction seems to run in families, but they're not exactly sure what causes it.
  8. I have the DQ8 gene which isn't as common as DQ2. I'm curious about others with similar genes and what their health conditions are b/c I wonder if there are any trends associated with this gene combination. My test results showed problems with gluten and casein. I also have seasonal allergies and a number of mild food allergies. And probably totally unrelated...
  9. I'm blond, green-eyed, fair-skinned. In fact, I look kind of like Bean. But my gene testing showed the celiac DQ8 gene which is Mediterranean/south European. I'm 3/4 northwest European mix, and 1/4 east European Jewish. I always thought any gluten problems would come from the northwest European side (the side with allergies and arthritis), so I was pretty...
