ARCHIVED Do They Put Your "out" For The Biopsy?
Sis replied to Chelle15's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had an Endoscopy done not too long ago. I am right there with you on the GAG PHOBIA!! My procedure was not very pleasant at all. My advice to you is to make sure you tell your Dr. that you don't want to know anything that is going on durng the procedure. I made the mistake of just letting the Dr. do his job as usual and I remember everything! The Dr. actually... -
ARCHIVED Results Are Back From My Capsule Endoscopy!
Sis replied to Sis's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Christine, Thank you so much for showing me that article. It all sounds very similar to what I have been experiencing. I just hope that my bouts with severe abdominal pain go away soon. I am a little discouraged though because I have the Capsule Endoscopy that says without a doubt that there is very little evidence of the Celiac Disease and that most... -
ARCHIVED Results Are Back From My Capsule Endoscopy!
Sis replied to Sis's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Well, the doctor did not go into detail because unfortunately he got my answering machine and that was really all he left on his message but I do have an appointment set up with him the 2nd week in July so we will probably discuss more then. The pain I get with celiac whenever I have been "glutened" is always the same for me..it kind of feels like I really... -
ARCHIVED Results Are Back From My Capsule Endoscopy!
Sis posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi there everyone. I just got my results back today from my third capsule endoscopy and I have mixed feelings about what it all means. The good news is that my intestines have almost completely healed from being on the Gluten Free diet...so that it great news, but they found a couple of other things that I am not sure if I should be concerned about or not... -

ARCHIVED Need A Recipe For Hushpuppies
Sis replied to Sis's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thanks, I have that cookbook. I will try it. I know that there are some "safe" brands of cornmeal out there, Do you think that they could be used for more traditional hushpuppies? Just curious if anyone has do that before. I am a hushpuppie lover but I never made them from scratch, just usually ate them out in restaraunts. -
Does anyone out there have a recipe for husppuppies? That is the one thing that I have been craving since going gluten-free. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Sis

I have had the fries several times since going gluten free about 6 months ago and have had no ill affects. I love to dip mine in the Polynesian sauce (also considered gluten-free on the website). I eat the Chargrilled chicken salad also. Love it but I have to drive 30 minutes to get to the closest Chick-fil-a Sis

ARCHIVED What Is Wrong With Me?
Sis replied to durhamgrrl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
durhamgrrl, I totally feel the same way about the Hypochondriac label. There have been so many weird things going on with me that no one can seem to figure out as well. I have been going to UNC for most of my GI stuff. I feel like I have been poked and prodded and radioactive from all of the tests and procedures I've had but still they don't know an exact... -
ARCHIVED What Is Wrong With Me?
Sis replied to durhamgrrl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am so sorry that you are having such a hard time. It sounds like there are maybe a few different foods that you maybe truly be allergic to or have an intolerence to. Have you had any testing done for various food allergies? You don't have to answer this but are you from Durham, NC? Just curious cause if so, we would be neighbors. Good luck to you... -
I Have been taking Levoxyl since before my celiac was dx and have not had any problems or known of any problems with gluten but I am not sure if there is anything else in it that you mentioned. You may try calling your pharmacy and ask them to research Levoxyl for you. Just tell them what your intolerences are. Sorry, wish I could be more help. Good luck...

I was dx with Graves disease several years before the celiac and had RAI to kill the thyroid and so now I am Hypothyroid and it has been so hard to keep my levels maintained. Sis
-
Just got my lab tests back today and my TSH is 24.00. Hypothyroid again and increasing Levoxyl to 175 mcg, UGH!!!! Guess that explains my extreme fatigue even with being gluten-free for almost 6 months! Sis

ARCHIVED Whole Foods Cheddar Cheese Scones Discontinued?
Sis posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am totally UPSET to find out that the whole foods bakehouse has discontinued the cheddar cheese scones. I went to pick some up a couple of weeks ago and they were gone, so I asked the customer service person and they said they weren't carrying them anymore. I can't believe it. It is hard enough finding things that are gluten free that actually taste like... -
ARCHIVED I'm New And Have Celiac And Graves Disease
Sis replied to Texas Celiac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have had a terrible time keeping my thyroid levels normal. My TSH was up, then down, and then up again, so I have had to keep adjusting my medication dosages. I go back to have more blood work on Tuesday because I really feel like my levels are off again. I think it is a combination of the thyroid and celiac that contribute to the extreme fatigue, at least... -
ARCHIVED I'm New And Have Celiac And Graves Disease
Sis replied to Texas Celiac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hello all! I too have Graves Disease along with the Celiac. Had RAI in 2000, been on Levoxyl ever since. The Celiac was dx just in 10/05 by blood tests and biopsy. I can relate with the confusion of figuring out this whole diet thing. I learn something new about this disease everyday. I am still dealing with quite a bit of fatigue and tummy trouble. Have... -
Thanks for the reply. I am not sure what I am going to do next. I just seem to be in pain most of the time. I guess I need to try and let the Dr. do his job. I just keep praying for him to find out what is going on in addition to the Celiac.

Do you have Bowel Endometiosis? If so, what kind of symptoms do you have? I was diagnsed with Celiac Disease back in October and I know the symptoms I suffer from when I get glutened, but I have had a lot of other weird symptoms that neither my GI Dr. nor I can figure out. We don't think it is another intolerence or allergy because the abdominal pain that...

I have been following the messages posted on Endo and Endo of the small bowel and have noticed that I am having similar symptoms and that these symptoms are happening pretty much right before I start a period. I've read where the diagnosis is usually made through Laparscopic surgery. I had Laparscopic surgery back in November which was performed by a GI Surgeon...

I don't know how you are about taking pills, but My GI doc prescribed something called Visicol tablets. (Not sure if that's the correct speling??). You have to take a whole bunch of pills in a short period of time and drink lots and lots of water. It might be worth asking you Dr. about. It was pretty miserable, but I have also had to go on a complete clear...

Welcome. I am new to all of this as well. look forward to talking with you on th board. Sis

It's when the intestine actually telescopes into itself. My Dr. says that it is pretty rare in adults but that there was so much damage to my small intestine from the Celiac Disease that it has caused the intussuception. I've done some research on it and most of what I've read say that usually the most common treatment is small bowel resectioning. I am going...
