About Me

My name is Amanda and I live in Oregon with my Husband and two Fur-babies! I was diagnosed with IBS and Ulcerative Colitis about 6 years ago and have been treating the symptoms with Lexapro. I was doing well as long as I remained free of stress and didn't binge on sugar.

About 2 months ago I went off of the lexapro to start TTC. Once I went off my symptoms went crazy. I am just trying to figure out what is wrong and see what I need to do to solve the problem without going back on the medication.

  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. 6 years ago I started have D, occasional vomiting, gas, cramping. I have always had a "weak" stomach but this was so bad I had to drop out of college. That is why I went to the doctor to start. After a bazillion test, a blood test showed that I had UC. So the Doc told me that is what it was even though my colonoscopy was clean. He gave me meds, asacol...
  3. One thing to mention, if you want to get tested for it you need to be eating gluten. So if you are person who needs an "official" diagnosis, like me, then you might want to wait and get blood tests done first. I am pretty much assuming that mine are going to come back negative as all my tests do. Apparently there is nothing medically wrong with me ...
  4. Don't forget to stop by Nehalem Winery. They have some nice ones.
  5. So now I am completely paranoid that I am not eating gluten free. I try researching all the ingredients but there are always a few I am not sure of. I am still really tired and crampy. No D though. I do have the worst heart burn. So it makes me think I am getting gluten even though this is only my second day going gluten free and I must admit last night...
  6. I already take a buttload of vitamins. Luckily they are all gluten free. I take a good multi, vitamin d with calcium, and omega 3. I am in Southern Oregon and have no whole foods or trader joes. We have a local place called Food 4 less and they have a huge health foods section. We also have a Fred Myers, Safeway, Albertson, Super Walmart and Winco...
  7. Are you keeping track of your calories and stuff? Might be helpful to see a dietician. The gym will help. I would kill to be back at the gym but I have no energy right now. Pretty sad since I use to go 6 days a week.
  8. I keep track of everything on a diet website called sparkpeople.com. It is meant to keep track of calories, fat and carbs but it works for this as well. They also have a few gluten free groups there to talk with. I can also print out my journals if I need to take them with me anywhere. Called my doctor and I won't have the test results for like a...
  9. So I think I am totally gluten free today. I am sure I am not but hey. Almost had a freak out on the coffee stand girl when she used a spatula to scoop the splenda foam off my Kona. Thought I couldn't go wrong with a cup of kona with 4 splenda. Anyhoo...LOL
  10. Blue food dye will turn your poop green.
  11. How soon before I know that it is working? How soon before anxiety lessens or is gone?
  12. WHy do make up and lotions matterif you don't digest them?
  13. You just stop eating gluten right...I know. But then you have your cross contamination, people talking about make up and shampoo. It is so daunting. How did you start?
  14. Gluten Challenge? I am assuming that is just going gluten free. I have not yet because I had some tests for it. I should be getting those results anytime. I don't want to stop eating gluten until I get those results in case I need to go for further testing.
  15. Are you sure you aren't telling my story? I don't have any answers for you since I am going through the testing phase myself but hang in there. Someone will come a long with some answers and just so you know I called out of work sick today. You aren't alone! Amanda
