  1. I have a spouse with Celiac and it is hard to keep things straight. I would like to start a support group. Does anyone has any info on the best way to do this?
  2. Well, It has been 11 months since my hubby's diagnosis and what a ride. At first the doctor scared him straight...that lasted all of 3 months, and since then he has been going down hill and especially in the last 3 months. I cook gluten-free and then he hits a few Oreo cookies. YIKES! what is a person to do? If any of you have or had the same issue please...
  3. Wow, I cannot believe that it is time to move onto 2010. Where the heck did 2009 go? What a year. I personally am glad to see it go and good riddance to it. It was a year of 3 brain surgeries for me and a celiac diagnosis for my husband. Honestly, I think I won out in the deal. The holidays have been hard in that it is difficult to replace all the...
  4. Good Morning Everyone,It has been sometime since I have checked in and for that I apologize. The gluten-free diet is going well but a little boring. I did discover a new product (well new to me). I was shopping at my local Redners a few weeks back. I was picking up the cookies my hubby likes. upon my arrival I noticed 2 men standing right in front of...
  5. To update this information with what I just learned. I spoke to a woman at the 800-967-5248 which is the number listed on either the Yoplait light or the whips. Anyway, she indicated to me that if the yogurt is Gluten Free it will be listed on the back. If not then it is not. She was very blunt about it and less then excited to help me. Nancy
  6. Last weekend all 5 of us went to Hershey Park. What an experience to have with a celiac! We did search the official website for Hershey Park and was happy to see they offered a page listing all the ingredients of the food at the park. There was one place that had gluten free hamburger buns. Over all we did have a good time but worrying about what a person...
  7. Good Morning All! Well as good as it can be considering it is Monday. I have to tell you all how important a great support system is when it comes to celiac disease. As the only cook in my house for my husband I cannot tell you what a blessing it is to have friends and family who help you with this chore of love. We had a party to attend on Saturday...
  8. Good Morning all, Sorry I have not written in a few days. We have be busy like all of you. Friday night my husband and I went to our favorite place to eat (since the diagnosis). Pizzeria Uno. The most fascinating thing happen. We were sitting there eating our food talking about what else, G-free eating, when all of the sudden the couple sitting in the...
  9. Thank you all for you great advise. I cannot imagine having to give up stuff like people on a gluten-free diet. Kudos to you all!!
  10. As soon as the diagnosis of celiac disease came, the doctor told us he would refer us to a really good dietitian. We were very excited to get in front of her because we had so many questions. As with anything else, the more information you get the more you need so you can filter through it all. I found out that the insurance would not cover it. The plan...
  11. I have a real quick question. Do any of you or did any of you suffer from issues with fatigue? My husband has Celiac and for the past 5 years it has gotten worse. He sleeps alot. He has been glutten free for 1 month and it seems to be worse then before the gluten-free eating. Has anyone else noticed that? Any advise? Thanks and have a great day!
  12. First thing this morning I read a post on the Open Original Shared Link regarding a husband who has celiac disease, while his wife does not. It was like reading about myself. Sometimes we may feel that the person in our lives who has celiac disease is not interested in taking a hand in the treatment. Like the wife in the post, I too find it to be very frustrating...
  13. Wow, reading your post makes me feel as though I wrote it. My husband too was diagnosed a month ago and I am the one reading the info and so on and so on. If I hear "can I eat this" one more time, I think I will throw up. LOL. I am not sure what to tell you as this is new to me also. But what I have done is get enough info to get started. Then I politely...
  14. I think these are due out this month. I keep checking my food stores and nothing yet. I will let you all know how they are, although I am sure if you all like cake they way my husband does you will be tellimg me. LOL Enjoy!
  15. What great ideas everyone has added. Thanks for asking the question!!!! I use bread crumbs in alot of things and was worried about what to use. As a newbie at this at fisrt glance it is scary but once you read some advice from the vetrans and the smart things one can do, the task of keeping my husband Gluten Free seems a bit easier. Good luck
  16. I am new to Gluten Free baking. I think the cooking part (meals) and the shopping issue are much easier then baking. I find it easy enough to whip up a gluten-free dinner or whatever meal but desserts or bread is another story. So I have been experimenting with bread and cakes. For bread I have just used a bread machine because I have been using the packaged...
  17. LOL that is funny about the casket. He is scared to death of getting cancer it is just new to us. I did read a good chunk of the book by Dr. Green. As a matter of fact my brother had Celiac Sprue when he was a child and his doctor told my mom that he out grew it. When I read in Dr. Green's book that you never out grow it I called him immediately and told...
  18. Thank you so much for the advice. I think I have it under control then you think of one more place that needs going through. I would never had thought to give the kitchen and all the acroutaments in it the once over. Bring it on!
  19. My husband and I went out one night and he had not had Pizza in a few weeks. We were happy to see that Pizzaria Uno has a gluten-free menu with pretty impressive selections. I would reccommend the pizza.
  20. I am new at this but my guess would be that one becomes before the other and one goes away and they other does not. By that I mean you must be GI in order to get a diagnosis of full blown Celiac. But once you go gluten-free and your intestines heal you do not have Celiac now but you still are GI so if you go back to eating Gluten you will become a full...
  21. My husband was diagnosed with Celiac and we are trying to keep him Gluten Free. There is a lot of confusing information about alot of stuff. For example, his symptoms are not that severe. For example he does not have any reaction to walking into a bakery like Panera Bread but I have learned that some people have a bad reaction to going into Panera bread...
